Now would be a good time to have a follow-up video. At the mid-season point Brighton is in the middle of the table with 26 points They've only lost 4 matches, but their offense hasn't produced much, only 27 goals. I'd love to see your take on how Hurzeler has succeeded (or failed) to implement his tactics in the Premier League.
Another great video. Once again, it’s nice to see how this channel has grown and improved. Your analysis has always been top notch, and the presentation and quality of the videos has only gotten better and better over time. Keep up the good work!
One way to press Brighton is to use a mid block instead of applying the pirst line of pressure on the defenders the wingers can cut off the full backs with out to in runs and the strikers can sit in a passive press in front of the midfielders with the trigger being the first pass from the center back trough the middle
The reason why Brighton can't do what Liverpool does and have a spare CB to press the ball carrier is because they don't have the same quality of CBs as Liverpool. The club is currently going through a CB crisis as it's really hard to find proper ball carrying and pressing CB, they tried to buy Olivier Boscagli this transfer window but failed to.
Im playing Brighton in fm 24 won treble with them i mean with Europe league.. im also using tracking tactics its effective though we concede goals a lot but fans love's it
Probably won't work for long, thats a five man pressing unit, against seven. They are going to work the ball out into the space behind the LM/RM. Any press that's going to work for a whole game, to disrupt their rhythm, has to foe
Another reason De Zerbi faced challenges last season was the departure of key players like Mac Allister and Caicedo-quality talents who have yet to be replaced. De Zerbi's departure from Brighton was reportedly influenced by frustrations with their transfer and recruitment process, as the club operates more as a "shopping centre" in the Premier League, mostly selling talent rather than building on it. Despite struggles from teams like Manchester United, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and even Manchester City this season, Brighton has failed to capitalize on the opportunity..
Fail at what? They're a mid team side that want to be top 10. Why not create some wild games and buy some expensive players to shake it all up a bit. Better than laterial passing themselves into 15th like potter would do
@@Golfphantom This high line is suicidal with CB-s as slow as Brightons, and I say that as a Brighton fan. It only takes one player to be out of position while trying the offside trap and the opposition winger/striker is through on goal. With De Zerbi they were capable of regularly beating better teams, but I can't see this happening if Hürzeler carries on with this type of defence.
How to win Brighton ? Playing against Brighton without Van Hecke, you don't need any tactics. Just park the bus, put your striker beside Dunk/Webster. Be patient, and I guarantee you will get 1v1 moment with the GK at least 4-5 times per game I said this as Brighton fan
Teams vacate midfield for goal kick restarts now. It's not a revolutionary thing. Teams must be prepared to press short kicks and defend long kicks over the top simultaneously. Thus, empty midfield.

Club owners profit and everyone says Hove are geniuses for another year. Rinse & Repeat. Reality: zero titles, zero finals appearances, zero midweek games, zero trophies...ever.
Who is Hove? And as Brighton and Hove Albion qualified first Europe the season before last and currently sit in sixth place it’s a bit early for you to see a pattern. As for winning trophies do you know how few teams in the EPL have won one over the last decade?
Great video and analysis, really clear and concise information. If you don’t mind me asking, what software are you using for the digital tactics board animations?
With and without Joao Pedro is totally different. Pedro's good physical ability is quite important for the team picking up the long ball and providing a great possibility to play 'unusual' game for de Zerbi.. example 1-0 Vs. OM in Europe League. His injury in late season cause the failure of brighton. If Pedro is in the squad when against Roma brighton would find the way to break the Roma
Interesting way of defending it like Roma did. But does this not lead to a lot of space for the fullbacks? Especially when stay much higher creating a 1v2 with the winger against the opponent's fullback? Just my opinion on how to "counter-counter-attack" Roma's way of defending :)

Only when it works. I feel De Zerbi was the best Brighton could do. While Hurzeler's tactics are interesting and enjoyable, I don't feel they will yield many victories. As well as their comeback was against Spurs, I also feel Spurs lost that mentally. It's the Spurs victory that appears to have given these tactics validity more than anything else. I'll be surprised if these tactics make Brighton unstoppable. Good side with a good young coach. Just my take.
