Thanks so much for watching! I hope you found this video on Hardcover vs Paperback for your Children's Book helpful. If you’re planning to write a children’s book, let me know! I can’t wait to cheer you on!
You are so easy on the ears! Great detail...explained proficiently...with additional resources provided. What a great Ambassador of self-publishing you are. Thank you for the exemplary video - one of the best on RUclips!
Thank you again, Eevi, you are a treasure trove of useful information. After searching many brick & mortar bookstores and large department store book sections for "desirable children's book formats" I had come to the conclusion that paperback was just not wanted or acceptable to the p[ublic. You have corrected my view with an intelligent, experienced eye. Thank you again.
Hi Eevi 🖖! Love your videos 😇! They are so helpful! Would you have a video on how to find a reputable overseas offset printer? It is useful to have copies of our book on hand when we do readings in schools, in libraries, in daycares and want to offer copies for sale. Also when we rent a kiosk at a market. Sure, it is an upfront cost, but the profit per book is interesting. Also, the image print quality is much better as is the quality of the paper and finishing.
Hi Deb! I believe a share a link to a printer in the description of this video (calculator). Other than that, I wouldn't know anyone I would feel comfortable recommending. For author copies for in-person events, I just posted a new video this past Sunday as well. I so hope this helps!
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! 1000 thanks! You have a new subscriber! I will share with you our (my wife and I) first children's book once we figure all this out. We are so excited! Thank you again for this valuable information.
Thank you so much for this video, packed with info! I will definitely watch more of your videos. I already have one of my books on Amazon (Dagbjort Asgeirsdottir), but aim at publishing more of my books. Greetings, from Iceland 😊
Hi I have a question, do you have any suggestions for publishing a hardcover children's book 8.5 by 8.5 with a dust jacket? Ingraham spark doesn't seem to offer a dust jacket for this size. I also wonder, do you think a dust jacket is necessary for a children's book? Do your hardcover books offer a dust jacket? It seems that most of the books I see in libraries have dust jackets, so I wonder about this. Thank you.
I have problem . All my interior pages prints are over saturated. Especialy blue colors. In photoshop i tried to reproduce in color proof the same print result. Nothing goes close to it. What are the exact parameters in color proof custom setup for kdp ?
Love your videos they’re great! I am struggling, Is my paperback and hardcover manuscript different sizes? My paper back manuscript is all spreads looks great, but I just recently received my hardback from ingramspark but for some reason it has a gap in the middle where my spreads do not connect
I'm so happy you enjoy my videos! If we choose the same trim size for our paperback and hardcover, then the interior size will be the same. Only the size for the cover sheet (back+spine+front) will differ between these two formats. I so hope this helps.
Hello Eevi, thank you so much for the video it’s very helpful. This is the first time for me creating a children’s book. I was thinking to do ebook and paperback through KDP and hardcover with Ingram and was wondering how they can all be on the same sale page on KDP! May I ask, will it be beneficial to do ebook and paperback with KDP, and paperback (overlap) and hardcover with Ingram? Thank you so much!!!
Hi Crystal! I'm so glad it was helpful! I've copied a link to one of my videos on expanded distribution. That's would be the main reason for publishing our books via KDP, and then also over on IngramSpark: ruclips.net/video/Z3gNrZysk8I/видео.html As to your question on every format showing up on the same sales page over on Amazon - as long as we are submitting our books with the exact same information (author name, title, subtitle), the linking usually happens automatically within a couple of days. I so hope this helps!
What are the sizes that are available on both Ingram AND KDP? Would like to know which size to design paperback in KDP so I don’t have to reformat later on when wanting to publish a hard cover on Ingram.
Hi there! How are you? I hope you've been having a fantastic week and that you've enjoyed this video. I went ahead and shared a link to one of my pages that shares the different available sizes toward the bottom of the page - www.eevijones.com/illustration-template-generator/ - I so hope this helps!
Hi Tracy! I have not used BookBaby before, mainly because we can set our books up for absolutely free over on KDP and/ or IngramSpark. I hope this helps, Tracy!
Hello, Eevi I have been looking at hardcovers for my childrens book at the size 8.5 x 11. I have been wondering if a paperback will be durable enough at the size I'd like to print? Do you know anything about this sizing by chance?
Hi Tierra! Here is a video specifically about sizing, because we will want to make sure the printing platform we decide on using has the sizes we wish to use. I hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/NJaoq9EJ6hs/видео.html
Thanks so much, Keisha! Yes, you can! Once you have set up your author account over on author.amazon.com/ you will be able to "claim" or add your book by searching for it via its ISBN. Good luck!
As of right now, I'm not aware of any cost-effective board book providers that print on demand (POD). Here, the best option would probably be off-site printing.
Hi Eevi, Should we put only the hardcover on Ingram Spark after we upload the paperback on KDP? I heard Ingram Spark can distribute to stores and then accept them all as returns with a cost to authors. Or would it be be worth putting the paperback on Ingram Spark as well?
Hi Ollie! How are you? If you'd like your paperback to be available outside of Amazon as well, then setting them up over there as well might be useful. I went ahead and shared a link to one of my videos on expanded distribution that shares one of the best strategies in terms of our book's availability. I so hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/Z3gNrZysk8I/видео.html
Hello.I hiredna book designer tonassist me in formatting my children's, she did so in 11x9 . Kdp said they could accommodate this landscape size in paperback but I was misinformed. Ingram can accommodate an 11x 8.5. My designer can adjust. Is there a service to assist in uploading to Ingram spark?
Hi Carolyn! Uploading our books onto IngramSpark is very similar to uploading it onto KDP, so if you can upload it onto KDP, I'm confident you can do IS as well.

That's so very wonderful to hear, Michael!! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind comment! I truly appreciate you!
I love the insight that the best reason to make a book hardcover is if it’s meant to be bought as a gift
I'm so happy you found this helpful, Jared!!

Great tips as usual, Eevi. Thank you! ❤ By the way, is that a cymbal behind you? Do you or your boys play the drums? 😊
I'm so, so glad you found this helpful. Thanks so much, Anna! And this is a cymbal! My youngest plays the drums :)
Thanks for all the insights and details.

I always had my heart set on a hardcover. I never thought about it this way.

Hi Eevi. Its two years later and is paperback still the same popular choice for childrens books as it was?

I wrote my book 25 years ago, and I’m publishing as soon as I can pull all this together. I want it published in multiple formats.
That's great to hear, Tom! Good luck!
@@EeviJones thank you. Just a lot to look over and consider
What about board books? Who does those?
