youtube's ads are disgraceful, mobile gatcha games, pyramid schemes, MLM schemes, it's absolutely shocking they make up about half of the ads i see. and only reinforce my desire to block the ads.
This. I wouldn't mind watching ads if they were high-quality. Unfortunately too many ads look too low-effort/scammy nowadays.
yutub
Yes; this has been my experience as well.
I keep getting that f*cking Hero Wars being advertised
The fact they don't moderate or validate those adverts just shows how money grubby Google can be.
First it was an ad near the video.
Then they started putting little banner over the bottom of the video.
Then they started putting skippable ads at the beginning of videos.
Then they started putting skippable ads throughout the video.
Then they started putting unskippable ads throughout the video.
And now we're at multiple lengthy unskippable ads throughout the video.
I wonder why adblock is so popular...
Partly the massive security vulnerability posed by ads; but also, the ads.
😜
They also put ads in livestreams from what I hear.
I still think it is hilariously bad when I got two midroll ads where the first was like 2 minutes and then the follow up skippable was over 7.5 hours for a surfing competition, and to top it off this was for a 6 minute video. At least the surfing competition was more entertaining than the 4 times a video Google ads, or the screaming gotcha games, and other irrelevant, questionable, and/or obnoxious junk.
"...users might experience service issues like buffering, error messages, and videos failing to load..."
I get all of those without having to run an adblocker!
Next up a lawsuit comes to youtube stating they blew up ppls hardware and are forced to pay billion us dollars .
same lmfao
Technically throttling your connection just because you have an ad-blocker enabled is already illegal.
Yeah these are the reasons I haven't bought premium, I don't trust it would work
@@defectiveparts8604exactly, they gonna have a very bad time in the EU :))))
Adblocker is essential for surfing the web, not just for RUclips but everywhere. I've had shields up for the past five years on all my devices and I've never looked back.
It is literally reccomended as an essential for browsing the web by countless big cyber sec firms including wait for it....THE FBI
the FBI recommends using adblocker as a basic security protocol.
@@ShaggyRogers1It doesn't.
@@Gkario It does. FBI literally encourages adblocker use to fight scams and malware. Malicious ads delivering scams and malware have been rampant on the internet for decades, and the FBI started encouraging adblock use YEARS ago.

If RUclips stopped showing literal scams in both Shorts and standard ads, I would have never had a problem leaving them in place.

@@d.b.cooper1Yeah, it's the worst toxic man bs
Imagine RUclips being under investigation for being the accomplice to financial crimes by forcing people to fraudulent advertising. That'll change their tune.
I wonder if we get such crap ads because we never click on them, so the only people willing to spend money showing us ads are the bottom tier spending stolen money anyway and paying a minimal amount for it.
RUclips needs to figure out their AD moderation.
I made an honest attempt to stop blocking ADs. But some of them are extremely disturbing. I remember getting a "Here is the sound of an owl being tortured, screaming in pain" as that was supposed to be some PETA nonsense.
I don't need this in my life. So I will block ads as long as I can.
There was one gambling operation that was more than half the ads I saw for well over a month. One that isn't even legal in my country.
An ad that featured a known sportsperson driving off down the centerline in an expensive car. So, someone so confused he didn't even know what side of the road to drive on wherever they filmed it.
I got a Chinese ad where a girl made some loud, embarrassing sounds, unskippable. Due to moderation, I can't describe it but it sounded like the birds and the bees. I swore never to watch RUclips with sound outdoors unless it's on bluetooth.
Damn, the horror stories are real
@@yensteelum what kind of psychopath would watch RUclips with sound on where members of the public can hear anyway?
I saw ads in times of democracy elections, but some of them were "not" from a party. The ad show how a kid using an app to buy a loaded gun and the kid shots his sister and himself, the message? This is what will happen if "X" party wins
It's so f up
Well, 95% of the channels I watch are demonetized, yet ads still run on their videos so RUclips can keep 100% of that revenue, them stating ad-blockers "prevents the creator from being rewarded" is grand!!!
I love how RUclips uses the argument of the creators get not getting paid when blocking ads, when its been proven that their ad revenue is peanuts compaired to their other means of income.
RUclips can also demonetize a video because they believe it violates their community guidelines, but then puts ads on the video to make money for themselves. They're either being disingenuous or straight-up lying about the 'creators need to get paid' concept.
Last time ltt published their info RUclips was still quite a significant chunk of it. And not everyone pimps merch.
and they forced to add ads to videos which deliberately don't want ad revenue, either by uploading copyrighted/flag-able stuff (songs) or when they have other source of income and don't want youtube's unreliable ad sence which infairly can kill your income for the video for no reason sometimes
No, it wasn't proved to be peanuts. Unless you're blacklisted, copyright struck, demonetized, or don't even have many views in the first place.
Huge advocate of Fadblock merely on the chance that its fast-forwarding counts as an ad view for the content creators. If not, oh well. I would be willing to pay for YT premium but not at a time that looks like rewarding this behavior. And deliberately staying away from the Google ecosystem like Chrome because of these antics.
Let the cat-and-mouse game begin. May the best ad blocker win.
This is why I use a Network adblocking IoT Device, because frick ads, I don't have time for it. The world is just to full of them.
but our favorites content-creator and educator on RUclips might lose their income if there is no advertisement
Yeah I'm down for it, and in the unlikely event of a "loss" I'm fully prerpared to not bat an eyelid. Platform is laughably weak these days as it is.

@@Simon-L-BRUclips wants you to leave if you don't pay through either premium or ads, though. It costs money to serve video.
@icantcomeupwithnames469 the problen with this logic is that, when half of your viewers leave and using an another video platform, even the ad requester will not pay the same price for the ads, if half of the viewers, than half the price too (in statistics they only see the users, they don't care the paid/free users ratio, only the maximun amount of reacheable user..) so they need to raise the price again.. so what the original comment said can be true..
@@TamasKiss-yk4st If you're not watching the ads in the first place, then you're not watching them, let alone clicking through. Advertisers get a lot more information on the ads than simply how many people view the videos RUclips serves them on.
The problem is ads aren't harmless. they're high resolution images, photos, flashy banners that all eat at your bandwidth. it doesn't matter if you have a data cap or not, they don't care. They siphon a little bit of your bandwidth (that you pay a premium for) to advertise a product. This also increases load times for pages.
Not to mention some ads are malicious, and predatory.
to me that's like the idea of you're filling your car, someone walks up to you obnoxiously soliciting some product, but also siphons a little but of your gas while they're there.

@@stillmoms Me?
@@stillmoms I do pay for the content I watch, I pay my service providers the fee to access the internet. The sell it to me like it's a finite resource, and in a way it is. there's only so much bandwidth available at a time. It's not my fault or concern what others do with the web. The fact that there's content creators that have found a niche of a job online is great! But why is it my concern to adapt with their needs/wants? Besides they could choose to gate keep their content behind a pay wall (Patreon). Many individuals do this, this is the way business is most typically done.
I can block ads, so I do. And I benefit greatly from It. No, I'm not sorry.
You know RUclips was the most widely used video hosting platform _before_ RUclips bought it & began packing it with ads, right?
Content creators want their content witnessed. Great works are made to be great, not only to make great profits. When rent-seekers move to greener pastures, communal operations arise to meet communal needs.

I joined RUclips when the ads I agreed to see were banners and sidebar ads.
That is the agreement I hold them to.
The intrusive BS they push now is horrible.
Wow, the altruism of RUclips, rewarding content creators? Some creators don't even snag a slice of the ad pie, even when they've given the thumbs down to those uninvited ad intruders. If RUclips's really keen on us ditching our ad-blockers, they ought to resurrect the "Dislike" button for videos and let us vote on the best and worst ads we're forced to endure. Fair's fair, right?
Big fan of the return youtube dislike button extension
@@TheVisualParadox More like a necessary evil, since the server of that is not open source and it kinda has a monopoly on a lot of data, which in due time CAN be sold. The concept is great, but as it's stands right now it's on it's way to become it's own evil (or at least could without us knowing)
Paid ad-blockers & proxies, too.
Paying a subscription for a service, tends to get diminishing returns per dollar.
Paid proxies were always a bit scammy (relatively few can verifiably keep no logs & there's considerable operational & monetary & legal incentive to collect usage data) & now companies that can easily know what ads they're blocking on which sites, are eager to bundle "premium features" with their ad-blocking...
Buyer beware! Whether you pay or not, you're still the product. The only altruistic services are communal services.
youtube is not RUclips, it's ShareholderTube, if there was a solid competitor, odds are i would be over there.
RUclips is entrenched. The only way for there to be a successful competitor would be if content creators could move their entire channel, videos and all over to the competitor's platform.

PeerTube exists, not that there's anyone making the effort to dual post there. A handful of uploaders aren't enough to draw casual viewers looking for randomness. It would take a lot of major uploaders, dual posting to _the same platform,_ to get a decent userbase going.
Platforms like Patreon have the benefit of being attractive to content creators who fancy the Idea of getting paid by patrons, but the experience isn't great for viewers hoping to kill time without committing to multiple subscriptions.
So long as uploaders keep posting only to profit-driven hosting platforms, the situation is unlikely to improve. Uploaders who just want stuff seen, have other options, but right now the one with the most public awareness, is unfortunately still TPB...

Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out who buys stuff from online ads in the first place. I'm sure marketers and ad sellers want to highlight how effective they are, but are they really? I can only speak for myself but a promotion with a lower price in a grocery store is probably the most effective way to get me to purchase. Even for things like fast food with a time-limited menu item advertised in a traditional TV commercial doesn't work; yeah, probably be interesting to try but at the price it is selling for, not worth it. Now that's the study I want to see. "Have you actually bought something you saw advertised online? If so, we'd like to speak to you now!"
@@commentinglife6175 i suspect half the stuff that gets clicked through on is someone accidentally clicking on something. I do it all the time. RUclips could reduce the impact of ad blockers by lowering the cost of their premium subscription and not being so aggressive with ads. They use ads to annoy you into subscribing which drives a lot of people into adblocker workarounds.

The PaintCam Eve device seems interesting, but would it also be considered a boobytrap? Pretty sure I've read that setting boobytraps up on your property, even if it is to protect your home/belongings, is illegal. Only a matter of time for one of those cameras to misfire on a delivery driver or random visitor to the home.
I believe the intent has to be to harm for it to be considered a booby-trap and it may also need to be concealed or camouflaged to count which could be a hard sell when the device is out in the open. The tear gas version might be a tough sell but the one that shoots UV paintballs to mark targets for Cops to deal with would be no different than the Dye packs banks use. Well, then the timer gets to zero, the ad just keeps playing half the time and the button either stays greyed out, or allows you to click on it only to keep the ad playing.
I can't wait for the "premium with ads" to come out smh
Firefox on Android ftw
Hell no. Samsung Internet is best
Word, this thing slaps
Why on Earth would you use anything other than ReVanced on Android?
Samsung internet is a chromium based browser that doesn't support desktop extensions like ublock. You have to pick one of their partner ad blockers which are not nearly as good and sometimes require paid third party software. Samsung internet has some advantages, great dark mode great widget... You care about ad blocking it's pretty dismal.
Ytdlnis Even lets you download just sections of videos and save them. Again unless you're running out of storage or something there's really no reason why you shouldn't have quite a few options.
Ever since I started getting ads that imply these companies are accessing my medical history, I feel like I have a moral and ethical obligation to block all ads.
RUclips fails to realize that Adblockers are like Hydras. Cut off one head, two more grow back.
All they've done is further incentive Adblockers to become better. They're fighting a losing war. It's an endless game of cat and mouse.
I saw the Boston Dynamics video of new Atlas before this. Is Boston Dynamics trolling with us? That shit is scary.
Bro i am telling you it’ll be all hell the day one of these 'innovations’ kills someone by mistake.
[ puts on a tin hat ] they keep saying dont worry, but how hard is it to mechanically alter the toy trigger to an actual gun trigger, even if its all wires a receiver for a mechanical pull isnt impossible.
Its the most mechanically efficient way to get up
The more RUclips tries to crack down on this, the more the 5% of desktop viewers that watch with adblock will retaliate...
So I just contacted RUclips Support - because I have a Premium account and have been experiencing these buffering issues (adblock disabled) - They offered a two month refund to my account - But THEN they cancelled my subscription on the spot - which I had already paid for. What a bunch of scum
Meanwhile the embed API used by the games I play does not even support adverts.
6:26 200,000 Kilowatt = 200 Megawatt. Idk why it bothered me, but you could have used megawatts to shorten it to something more graspable. It's like referring to 1 GB as 1024 MB.
Press released in kilowatts to make it sound like it's more power than it is
Same power as 6 AU falcons at idle
@@450clancy6is it an English falcon or an African falcon.
@2:28
I can't get enough of the sfx 🤣🤣🤣
if they made a youtube "premium" version that was just the ad blocking and was cheap more people would jump onboard. as it stands it's far too pricey for things I don't want and won't use.
2:28 I love how the robot grabs it's nuts..... literally lol
They know what they are doing when they keep throwing "creators" under the bus.
If the creators are in a bad spot, that's on youtube, not the consumer and I'm certain they will care little-to-nothing about creators when their AI needs a fine dataset or when they get another ToS violator like sssniperwolf rolling in the engagement away from competitors.
remember when "premium features" used to be free and available to all before they locked them behind a subscription gate? I remember.
RUclips has the world's worst bitrates. Literal, corn sites have better bitrates.
It's not a culture. It's a boycott. Google promised to only show me personalized ads. That's why I allowed them to collect my personal information. Read my emails, look at my Borwser history, and know all my purchases. In all the years I've been using Google's services, there have been exactly ZERO ads that matched my personal interest or it was just the repetition of what I've already bought. There's just no value to me in watching ads. AND I watch hours of videos that match my interests, all of which also contain ads. So, what the fuck is the problem? I'm aware of yt's CEOs' claim that they don't have enough money. But when I look at their stock prices. Then I highly doubt it. Maybe you just change your perspective and try to put yourself in other people's shoes?
RUclips says there are 318 comments but I only see 3 comments?
315 spam comments blocked. Working as intended.
Watching this on a 3rd party app with ad-blocking. So far, no buffering or error messages.
I’m a premium member and I’m always getting error codes, so maybe RUclips is deteriorating and they are just preemptively covering their bases.
They won't slow down certain traffic, but they are allowed to speed up certain traffic... Which is artificially slowing down certain traffic by not allowing it the same speed as other traffic...
What is this stupidity? Net neutrality shouldn't say "don't slow down" but instead should say "no traffice should be discriminated against." This is just the administration trying to say they restored NN. The original taking out of NN and the backlash was saying "it's not a fast lane. It's putting everyone else in the slow lane."
I’ve recently had an issue with RUclips where I have turned off all ad personalisation. There are some certain topics that are sensitive and I dislike, and Google seems to agree about that fact too and allows you to hide certain genres of ads such as Alcohol, Gambling, Parenthood, Dating, etc. However disabling these ad topics and keeping ad personalisation off are mutually exclusive.
Meaning you have to hand over all your personal and ad tracking data in order to disable these topics.
I would happily pay for RUclips premium if they didn't artificially inflate the price for my country and force you to buy a subscription for 6. Why cant I just get a personal subscription at the same price as my neighbouring country?
I might stop using RUclips at all, take that Google :DDDDDD
That's probably what they want, running costs etc, but as long as the feeling is mutual it's no loss to you really. At best it's a mere shadow of it's former self these days.
You wont
You might?
@@alandjerryeah and there is no real competition, and people
wont switch platforms just for one of their subscriptions.
Pretty sure that's in their favor since they save on bandwidth costs that don't give them a monetary return.
Ah I see TechLinked continues its bootlicking for RUclips.... I guess some things never change. At least it's fitting that Vessi is your sponsor, they've got all the footwear you could possibly need to get down and lap at
what they don't get is that we are so bombarded by advertising that we take absolutely no notice of it anymore. It's in one ear and out the other. The problem is, that we are paying for obscene amounts of money spent on advertising through the products we buy. Producers don't care how much money they throw away on advertising as they just put up the price of products to cover it. It's one reason why home-brand products are so much cheaper. Not because the quality is necessarily any less, but because once you take the cost of advertising off the product, the price drops significantly.
I would be more inclined to allow ads if they actually vetted advertisers. The majority of ads on the platform are filled with scandalous, and sometimes blatantly illegal, content (pyramid schemes, miracle scams, fraud, disinformation, etc). It is unbearable to deal with, and I refuse to support them.
Gonna be honest, I have been paying RUclips premium for a couple of years and I’m never going back.
I mean, ads are the biggest issue but there are more functions I literally use daily that I only get with premium.
Just wish there was a way to share premium with my wife without having to use the same account.
There's a family premium that can extend up to 5 separate accounts.
You Just have to get the family plan, that’s what I do
Premium and yt music here
get the familly subscription and you will have up to 6 people.
im a disabled vet that already cant afford to eat 3 meals a day so i can feed my kids. i cant spend extra money that i already dont have.
Here's how stupid this all is. When youtube was actively trying to stop people from using an adblocker, forcing lots of people to turn it off or risk having their accounts banned, one of the ads I kept getting was for you guessed it, an adblocker.
"I bet we can speed up the process by sending our legislators AI generated videos of them robbing banks."
But...aren't they already doing that? And aren't they BOASTING about doing that? This would have no effect on any of our politicians.
But how else will I find out that I’m “stupid” for not participating in the $6400 scam? I keep reporting and the scams keep coming so YT must be complicit at this point.
Buffering isn't a deterrent when seeing an ad would still be buffering, but now with an annoying scam rather than just peace and quiet
The have the audacity to not pay us individually for tracking us with cookies, and be mad for not being able to feed us with ads😂
The fact with youtube is that they try saying that w/o ads you're harming content creators, yet they demonetize them and still put the ads.
And also with all the data they collect from people they are embarassingly bad in the choice of ads: I'm a 19 yo guy, and yet they try sell me cars, pets food (i dont have a pet neither i'm planning getting one), industrial machinery or stuff like that. Like cmon, google probably knows me better than my family, at least put some decent ads...
Good, I hate it when my ad watching session gets interrupted by short stretches of actual content.
RUclips's stance wouldn't be so bad if they were capable of distinguising between an adblocker like ABP, and antimalware addons like Malwarebyte Guard.
As an experiment, I have ABP installed but disabled on youtube sitewide, and Malwarebyte Guard's adblock toggle turned off so it's only active for malware and scams.
I still get dinged by the same "adblockers aren't allowed on youtube" but reloading the page after their incompetent message will either load the video correctly or play a single ad before then proceeding to the video.
Even an honest attempt to comply leaves you in the same situation as ignoring youtube's demand, so why bother?
The minute that YT tries to yell at me for using an ad block, even though I have premium, ill cancel premium and just watch other streaming site from now on
