I am resident in the UK and really enjoy you videos. I have a You Tube channel myself and really appreciate the effort that goes into making them. I shoot with a Canon EOS R and an older 70D (which I prefer) and for fun use a Minolta Dynax 5D and 7D both of which work perfectly without first frame black issues. Keep up the good work!

I believe three things keep these older DSLRs still working at their advanced age: 1) They were very well built to start with, 2) they were fairly expensive to buy and thus well cared-for, and 3) their owners found them unwieldy once they got a smart phone, and they stopped using them.
I am getting used to shooting a Canon R50 with RF and EF lenses, but I also shoot with a 7D, 40D, 70D, and 5D. I occasionally shoot film with an A-1, and I just purchased an EOS 650 and an FTb.

Hard to stick a DSLR in your pocket, thus cellphone wins. And people are lazy and not talented in photography. They are only good for selfies and group shots.

      3) Before smartphones became usable, advanced compact cameras became the competition for DSLRs. I still use Olympus XZ-2 and pray it will last as long as possible and sometimes take Canon PowerShot S90 with me when I need something really small.

Today I shot with my D3, K-30 and film with my Nikon F .
Chilly sunny day here up north today. No snow left except for high up in the mountains.
Hope you're having a good one too.
My wife still has got her 350D/Rebel Xt but when her kit lens broke I got her Panasonic's G1 with the brilliant 15-45 kit lens.

I still have my first and only DSLR - Pentax istDS from 2004, I believe, with some descent lenses, it has awful autofocus (for some reason much worse than late SLR Pentaxes) and is noisy, but I love the colors. Now for years I'm into m43 Olympuses (currently Olympus E-M5mk3), I love its size/to image quality ratio, excellent IBIS and good affordable lenses on the market, but more often than not I take Olympus XZ-2 with me (bought in 2013) and pray it will last as long as possible - I love good compact cameras, it's a shame it's a vanishing category now. BTW, your video made me curious about early Olympuses.

I think the reason there's not a lot of profit in DSLRs is you won't tend to find them in lots or "x cameras in a box" till they're basically "throw away". Any one that still has some value is going to likely be known or found out by the potential seller - cause they paid a lot up front and so are far less likely to just toss in a box now. Also, post 2014 or so when smartphones "got decent", the $400-$650 new kits are "worse" in full auto mode point and shoot than the smartphone. And anyone who spent $1,000+ body only plus lenses is either a dentist or a camera aficionado. So they're also going to be more likely to know about residual value, and also may be more likely to either list themselves or go straight to MPB for a hassle free trade in or sale.
Anyway, I use a Canon R5 with the EF 24-70 F2.8 II lens most of the time, with occasional EF 50 f.14 in the dark and some random adapted manual lenses for fun, and just got the Canon RF 200-800 for my bird photos. I currently believe the Canon R5 is going to be the new 5DmkII that'll be relevant for a decade or more - it was so OP when released and still is one of the top tier do anything cameras.

Not to complain but I noticed that the Olympus E510 and the Nikon D60 both flashes barely work at all. I don't think Kevin noticed that from behind.
I was also a little surprised that Kevin seems to prefer the CCD sensor to the CMOS ones. CCD was discontinued by all the high end camera makers (Nikon, Canon) years ago because they were much slower especially when using video.
Still a fan of these videos.
As to his question about what we shoot with these days I mostly use my Samsung Cell phone as I always have it with me and those built in cameras keep getting better and better, Some of them have 50 MB resolution.
Also, a suggestion for Kevin to make a video showing the shutter count procedure and does that only work on DSLRs?

I think some times flash doesn't fire due to him shooting in full auto. Surely cmos is the current choice but there's a crazy trend out there right now in photography community for older ccd sensor cameras because they produce kind of film like results.
