    I agree with him. While both shows can be vulgar or violent, it’s pretty dumb to say that’s all they are or that they have no value because of it. Its just one aspect of the show. And I don’t think people like these shows solely because they like an abundance of cussing and inappropriate jokes, I think they like it because those things make it obvious that they are irrefutably shows for adults. A lot of animated shows are written off as children’s content just because of their art style, so it’s refreshing to get a show that keeps that vibrant fun art style while maintaining the fact that it is undeniably not for children.
    I think that if the shows just aren’t to your taste thats fine, but generalizing an entire series you may or may not have even watched in the first place as unintelligent or lacking depth on the basis that you don’t like excessive swears or sexual humor is silly, and not an opinion that holds any weight to me. So many people in reality, at least in my experiences, swear the amount that the characters do in the show, and that says nothing about their intelligence and everything about how they were raised and habit. Swearing a lot doesn’t make you an idiot, and choosing not to doesn’t make you a genius superior to everyone who does. It’s just a preference, and you can express that preference without being a dick to people that harmlessly enjoy a show

    • @anangoohns
      @anangoohns Месяц назад +12

      Exactly! There's a difference between "there's too much swearing" and "there's too much swearing for me"
      Theres a difference between "all this sex stuff isn't funny" and "I don't find all this sex stuff funny"
      The formers aren't valid criticism of a show for anyone besides yourself bc those things are personal preferences not anything objective. The latters are absolutely acceptable bc you're allowed to like what you like and not like what you don't. But universalizing your preferences is where the issues start.

    • @table2.0
      @table2.0 Месяц назад +2

      For real tho! The swearing can even be character building imo! Like how Blitzø swears a lot but doesn’t joke or play around when he’s serious, enough for Loona to notice and not question his decision.
      Some characters very rarely swear, Moxie does so for emphasis when he’s peeved at Blitzø for instance.
      Stella does so to insult or demean others or to be verbally violent
      Store owners swearing not not swearing is world-building because politeness in Hell isn’t that big a priority to most, but some still keep civility and grace for their clientele.
      Sometimes it gets a bit much, especially Blitzø, but the fact that it’s noticeably him to me feels like his character is effective and makes his quiet moments more poignant

    • @table2.0
      @table2.0 Месяц назад +1

      @@anangoohnsthere are ways to objectively critique humour, but as you said people are just going about it wrong.
      If they broke down a joke for its timing, delivery, etc and explained how it could be improved or why it didn’t land for many people, it would be more understandable. But most of the critics are not respectful at all

    People just love to overlook optimism and goodness when risqué topics are involved. Way back in the 70’s, there was an arc in The Amazing Spider-Man comics about Harry Osborne getting addicted to pills due to how stressful his life was. A lot of Marvel execs at the time only saw the drug abuse and immediately labeled it “wrong”. However, when fans read it, they found a story that tackled serious topics but still maintained optimism and hopefulness. Same thing applies to HB/HH. Many are quick to judge the contents of media, rather than what media has to say about its contents.

    [contains spoilers for Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel]
    yessss, I noticed what a brilliant show HB is at exploring relationships, not just romantic ones but friendships, father-daughter relationships, father-son relationships, how past relationships impact people and impact their future relationships, how people's relationship with themseleves affect how they treat other people and what they think they can have in relationships, how simple it is that everyone craves connection in some form even whilst being scared of it, and how people change people. having all of this in the landscape of Hell is so interesting too. in particular the way they have created Stolas and Blitzø's relationship is so well crafted to be really layered and complex and I noticed different things about it and saw it from two different perspectives when I watched it through a second time. and how Blitzø's trauma and guilt of starting the fire, him blamimg himself for Fizz and his mother's de*th, then everyone else blaming him for it as well making him believe he shouldn't be allowed to make close relationships ever again because he fears hurting them and he doesn't believe he's worth anything good, and the massive impact that has on his ability to form friendships or have a romantic relationship, because they require you, on some level, to accept love. which he doesn't think he can. it's so sad, I really feel for Blitzø, I hope he and Stolas can eventually work through the messy parts and get together. (I'm also really hoping they won't only get together as romantic partners on the very last episode of the whole series, like a lot of shows do, because that won't be the end of their relationship journey, there is so much more interesting things to see with them navigating a new, genuine, loving relationship, so I really hope we get grt to see that.)
    Hazbin touches on it as well. like people who have hit rock bottom and (have been told) it won't get better, this is the end of the line, and they've all done things deemed morally wrong but yet they can still have deep, complex emotions and can still feel love and protection and loyalty for eachother and form family-like relationships and even improve on their relationships with themselves too. and the relationship between Charlie and Lucifer, or the wholesome and wonderful love of Charlie and Vaggie, a demonspawn daughter of Lucifer and an angel who used to be an exorcist. I believe we're going to get a lot more exploration into interpersonal relationships in Hazbin's next seasons. I hope we're going to look at Alastor's family relationship, and maybe more of Charlie's too 🤞
    The hellaverse is a fun and fantastic exploration of complex relationships

    I think Blitzo's redemption is going good but most of the relationships have always the same occuring problems which create filler episodes, let's not even talk about the community killing off the vibe by making everything horny, the merchandising even make it worse. As much as i can say it has potential it does not seem to keep it up and you can't really get into the fandom for drama reasons. In short, it can entertain for a while but by being repetitive and not really caring about their community toxic side you basically stay in the middle, you do not feel that sensation that lets you watch it again over and over

They aren't even technically using our religion (related but very different from our views on heaven and hell) and it's about redemption. Shouldn't we like the show that says vices are bad and you don't want to end up in hell? Or at least ignore it, since nothing about the show glorifies hell

    I feel like they should clarify in the show that not everyone can be redeemed? Im assuming it will be explored in the future but it would’ve been a good episode focus for season one, since there’s not just murders but people who have done thing that are horrific and don’t deserve it, (val for example)
    Would’ve been a good third episode that an episode in season 2 could link back too.. since it just makes Charlie seem really naive and it doesn’t make sense since she’s lived in hell her whole life, i get she was sheltered but the show makes her look stupid to the point where other demons take the piss out of her.
    Idk maybe they will explore it in ss2 but it Charlie was just a bit more mean some issues could potentially be resolved, or fixed much faster so it would be nice to see her utilise that.

      in my opinion that's the point.
      in recent interview with vivziepop she said that there will be matter of who is truly redeemable or irredeemable.
      Charlie is supposed to be intentionally flawed character who develops throughout the series which is mentioned by charlie's voice actress. If you think about it, how can person stuck in hell for eternity understand the concept of redemption when it is surrounded by crimes and nobody knows how to redeem even including angels
      I theorize that lucifer may have been overprotective dad to charlie. I think it's more interesting to see a flawed main character that develops but i get why you may not like that..

    • @BurntGrilledChezze
      @BurntGrilledChezze Месяц назад +2

      That’s sorta the point. Charlie’s is supposed to be naive and dumb. Like, if you notice her tactics to try and redeem someone it’s very- surface level. Like trust falls and all that is very basic. Since she doesn’t know what gets a sinner into heaven, so she’s doing anything. Basically throwing stuff at the wall until it sticks

    The problem with the swearing that people don’t understand is that, as a writer, swearing should be used as a tool. Something to be used at the right time and to help emphasize something. HH and HB ignore that and overdo swearing where it’s got no substance than “ooh cartoon character said the f word”. I’m caught up on both and I can honestly say that both shows really aren’t that well written. The music is fine those parts made HH more watchable but the overall story of HH moved wayyyy too fast. HB had an interesting concept and mostly threw it to the side for romance. Which would be fine if the show was originally pitched as that in the pilot. If you like the show then good for you and more power to you

  • @海苔-k3d
    @海苔-k3d Месяц назад +1

    I like Richard Horvitz, but I disagree with this. The problem with Helluva Boss is not human feelings and morals mixed with violence and profanity; it's bad writing. Stella is evil for the sake of being evil because "this angry woman interferes with their gay love", and her backstory is being angry since birth; Stolas is depicted as innocent despite being a perverted freak; the relationship between Stolas and Blitz is toxic; the show promotes itself as a dark comedy about demons but turns into love drama instead. Father and daughter relationship is shown through Blitz/Luna and Stolas/Octavia, but it seems like Luna doesn't learn on her mistakes and still pushes her dad away at every opportunity, and Octavia's dad still neglects her. I wouldn't have a problem if show combined comedy and drama well, but many things seem off topic.
