Murat Karaca It wasn't that bit which infuriated me though. It was the fact that France had one of their worst ever competitions due to a disagreement between players and the manager. The French players were so in the wrong that they had to personally apoligise to the manager and Nicholas Sarkozy. music63312 That game was in my city and I was at the stadium watching it, near to the robben's "dive", and I think it was penalty, no wrong call, sorry mate.
The Jordan "push-off" wasn't a push-off. He was using his left hand on Russel's body to stop himself so he could get into position to shoot the jumper. No foul was committed.
Th Wembley Goal '66 is by far the most controversial referee decision. I'm not commenting wether the decision was right or wrong, but what's important is that to this day, there does not seem to be a common agreement on to the topic. So basically 50 years later it's still a highly discussed incident in sports' history. The fact that it is not even listed in this video is a joke.
Jeff Roper Yeah, but that still does not reverse the call. I still don't know how Jim Joyce is one of the best umpires if he messed up Armando's perfect game.
It could have been called an "Illegal Use of Hands and Arms" or a "push off"... but he got away with it. Here is what the rule states. The bold bit is important to that moment. A player is not allowed to use their hands or arms to force their way past an opponent or push an opponent aside. It also is not legal for a player to use their hands or arms to prevent an opponent from freely moving anywhere on the basketball court. *It is not legal for a player dribbling or shooting the ball to push away a defender who is attempting to steal the ball or block a shot.*
No calls are still referee judgments of the play. That said, I don't seen an obvious push-off or anything, but I'm not really a serious basketball guy.
Robert Coulter I understand that. There were bad calls throughout the entire game and series, specifically game 6. It's just like number 2 on this list. The entire game was rigged and bad refereeing decided the outcome. They picked the most controversial call in that game which was when time was added back on the clock. A call that sticks out in the Lakers-Kings game was when Kobe elbowed Mike Bibby in the face in the finals moments and there was no call while Bibby was on the ground bleeding.
Will Beard 2002 WCF facts show the Kings took more free throw attempts and committed fewer fouls than the lakers in that series.... that is a fact....the officiating favored the Kings.....that's a documented historical fact.... Shaq and Kobe are 2 of the alltime leaders in free throw attempts, and the kings STILL shot more free throws than the lakers did in that series Kings took 204 free throws in the series.... Lakers took 185 free throws in the series... advantage Kings.. Kings committed 173 fouls.. Lakers commited 179 fouls.. advantage Kings.. kings won game 2 and had a 38-25 edge in free throw attempts...horry fouled out.. kings won game 3 and had a 35-15 adge in free throw attempts...kobe fouled out... kings won game 5 and had a 33-23 edge in free throw attempts....shaq fouled out and attempted 1 free throw.. Kings had a 106 to 63 FTA advantage in the 3 games they won.....with horry, kobe, and shaq each having a game in which they fouled out and the team lost... these are the facts....they are undisputed...refs favored the Kings Lakers were screwed by the refs.....good thing they had Shaq
Kobe Not Top 100 Game 6 was the most controversial game. The Lakers were screwed by the ref? Ha!! Go watch the highlights from game 6 please. Maybe I went too far to say the entire series was rigged, but I don't think you can say there wasn't something wrong with game 6. The Kings played better, being the better team. The Kings win that game and the series is over. I remember watching this game and shaking my head, vowing to never watch NBA basketball again until David Stern was gone (I didn't stick to this vow). The Lakers shot 26 free throws in the 4th quarter... Do I need to repeat that? Shaq was clotheslining players who drove to the basket, Larry Bird style, and didn't get called for them. However, if Pollard was a victim of Shaw catching the ball in the post the whistle blew immediately. Tim Donaghy filed a court document saying the refs were told to do what favors NBA marketing. And maybe the most notorious of all, the obvious, blatant elbow Bibby took too the face from Kobe during the final moments that, you guessed it, wasn't even called. The guy was laying on the ground bleeding. I think it's safe to say you are just another biased Lakers fan. That's OK tho.
Kobe Not Top 100 oh you're in denial. even lakers WRITERS thought the game was rigged. and the announcers and the crowd were stunned at hour bad the calls were
After Dez caught the ball, took two steps, and lunged forward. That at the time is considered a football move. So it was actually a catch, and a fumble recovered by Dez Bryant.
+Lawrence Lepes but in the rule book it cannot hit the Turk ! If it does he needs to have full possession with out the ball moving ! I know it's bullshit nobody knows what a catch is just like this year when beckham Jr and Malcolm bulter
+Anthony Ramos He took two steps whole possessing the ball before he lunged forward. That establishes himself as a runner. The referee even said he made a mistake in the review challenge saying that it was a catch.
ned martin "Engerland" did get hammered. But to say it would've of had an effect on the game, we will never know. But thank god we lost 4-1 rather than 2-1. Took the excuse away, really. Also, it's England.
ned martin that goal would have made it 2-2! the next goal we conceded was because we foolishly went gung-ho in an attempt to equalise, leaving one at the back after lampards freekick. at 3-1 and after that injustice, we didnt have the mental capacity to get back into it.
ZakSinz True, but I see it as the great equalizer to the 1966 final which still causes controversy to this day. Either way though...sad and somewhat disgusted to see a subjective decision decide these big of matches...really angers me.
"The hand of God" is different than "The goal of the century" The hand of God is Maradonna boxing the ball into the goal. The goal of the century is the solo run leading to a goal by Maradonna. Both done in the same game.
In the summer of 2010 Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga was 26 outs towards a perfect game. On the last out of the game the batter was thrown out by a full half step and the ump blew the call and called the runner safe. After the game Galarraga didn't seem that upset by the blown call but the ump, Jim Joyce, was in tears. He'd seen the replay and said it was the worst call in his career.
+Vake How so? Steelers Broncos playoff game and Arizona Green bay games were big. The Broncos wouldn't be in the SB now without a win against the Steelers they didn't earn. The refs were beyond disgusting in the Steelers Broncos game. Although not as major Broncos Pats game cost them home field. Without the sloppily refs of the hail mary Packers game it is likely the Packers wouldn't have even made the playoffs.
The look on Hun's face says it all. He even went over to lift Jones in victory. Give Hun some credit, he never claimed that he won the fight, and was as shocked as everyone else.
Nicolas Melgarejo Yeah,If you say: "Vs chile last america cup" It's kinda of wrong to say that we lose like bitches, because we lose because of penaltys... "Vs germany last World Cup" I was betting that Germany would won,and they won So... Ironic right?
Unless this was made before the world cup 2010, Lampards goal against Germany should have been #1 instead of Maradona's goal in my opinion. It wasn't as important, but it was more obvious I think.
The Carolina vs Denver 2016 season opener, final quarter, Cam Newton goes for a pass (has no open recievers) throws out of bounds, and gets hit helmet to helmet late, Referee's call Roughing the Passer ( against Denver; 15 yard penalty ) and Intentional Grounding (against Carolina; 10 yard penalty), and called the penalties offsetting, but did not call helmet to helmet ( against Denver; 15 yard penalty) as well as multiple other helmet to helmet hits
The most corrupt football match I have ever seen was 2009 Chelsea vs Barcelona. The whole game stunk of corruption from the officials.....After the game the players, the manager and even the TV commentators were all saying something isn't right with this game. ( I am an Arsenal fan by the way) It was a disgrace to football!!
Like Drogba said, it was a fucking disgrace. Chelsea could have had at least 3 penalties and after having the lead for most of the match we were knocked out in the very end. As a Chelsea fan, it was extremely upsetting.
what about the penalty of bosingwa to henry in the first match in camp nou, what about the nonexistent red card to abidal and for the record the penalty it was 2 (the hand of pique and the hand of alves) everything else was diving
The "Fail Mary" was only at #10? Give it some time, and it should climb up onto the list, because what was a really bad call. And I'm not not even a Packers or Seahawks fan here.
Again, as they mentioned, they weren't ranked for how bad they were, they were ranked by the importance of the game. That play happened in week 3 of the season. Had it been a playoff game or a late season moment that decided the champion then maybe, but if you remember the packers won the division that year anyway so the game wasn't really that important at all.
this isn't something that changed the course of football history, but the match between Chelsea and Barcelona in the 2009 UEFA CL semi-finals was disgusting!
in 2006/2007 the Nashville Predators scored to make it 6-3 in the 3rd period however the goal was waved off because the referees "intended to blow the whistle" before the puck went in the net.
Uruguay vs Ghana 2010 FIFA World Cup, Luis Suarez use his hands to avoid a goal from Ghana, but after all that, the refeere take a inxistent foul for Ghana and Suarez makes justice for Uruguay
I remember watching that, that should have been on there. Totally unfair to Ghana. I wanna say Suarez is a douche but I probably would have done the same thing.
John Colt You shuld see this video (the foul dosen't exist, so Suárez makes justice to take off the ball with his hands!) watch?v=jasUK3D9cYY Suárez do the right thing, and he saw the red card, and penalty but Muntari shit his pants haha
that can't be a controversial call, since it didn't affect the outcome of the match, if ghana would have won, then you have an argument, but since they didn't its not controversial.
John Colt obviously you are clearly wrong if you think it was unfair for Ghana. The ref did the correct thing, and really he did the only thing that should have been done. What do you expect the ref to do? give Ghana the goal? Santiago is right, one the foul didn't exist and two the Ghana players were clearly offside, so if Ghana would have won then yes, it would have been very controversial.
I don't think the game itself was an important one, but Armando Galarraga's perfect game that was ruined by a bad call with 2 outs in the 9th inning was pretty bad.
If they had stuck to their premise, to rank the entries by importance of the game, there would've been a lot more football on this list. Like the Wembley goal of 1966, the "reverse Wembley goal" 2010, the Grosso penalty in 2006 all the screw-ups in the 2002 world championship, since all those things happened in world championships, not some national league.
And even the Thierry Henry goal should have ranked higher in my opinion, we were about to knock out a team that was considered one of the Top 5 in the world, and we got screwed. I'd say it was worthy of 5th or 6th, not 9th.
Evin Hughes I will be forever ashamed for that "helping hand" from Henry, who I highly estimated before that incident. I mean, great players don't need such tricks to win a game, it's like cancer as it happens nowadays in the NBA with all the flopping. Considering the two games, Ireland clearly was the best team! French players may get more exposition as most of them play for great teams, but they did not show great confidence and their game play was pure shit. On the contrary, Ireland showed great team effort, in terms of combativity, enthusiasm, tactic and so much more aspects. You got robbed and that's a shame, mostly because the only 3 (or 5?) persons on the planet that did not saw the foul were the officials attending that game! Platini must change his mind on video assistance for referees, if the game is televised or has recording equipment then it should be used, at least for the big events, that is to say Eurocup, World cup and the Champs League! I'm still wondering what the Irish team would have done in that 2010 championship for they were so pleasant to watch, that's the kind of football I like. I'm for the french team, that needs no say, but every supporter who's aware that sport is not war or a political tribune should be fair enough to say that Ireland deserved to go instead of France simply because they were the best team and by far! I guess France got their turn too, if you remember what occurred during this competition. I prefer not to be going to the WC than to go in such a way, that has nothing to do with sportsmanship and there should rules taken to prevent from this to happen in the future. The UEFA and the FIFA should really do something because if they don't, that means they accept those behaviors as a "collateral damage" or as pure fate and destiny and it's not acceptable. Yep, fair play is advertised so massively by football instances but is rarely seen in game. You'll see more often divers, cheaters and dirty players than true respect for the opponent team. When you think about it, you can get hurt or killed for a simple game of football, how crazy is that? Too much money in sports caused its own loss, or at least the loss of the original spirit of these sports...
i remember something similar to #8 happening at a pirates game once. I was up at the top section and a home run was called but a fan reached out and grabbed the ball. I have no idea why they want to catch a ball that they have to reach out into the field to grab it.
How? It was incomplete based on the rule. I think it is stupid and should be a catch though. This is coming for a packer fan. Also there was 4:00 on the clock. Super easy for Aaron Rodgers to get a field goal
I know wyatt. It's so annoying when people complain about it. They don't realize that the refs made the right call and that it wasn't debatable, and on top of that the packers drove and got into field goal range and still would have won the game.
I thought _controversial_ implied the possibility of the alternative. Most of the calls here were just plain wrong. And that's your nitpick of the day, folks! Have fun!
Jerry Meals’ call in the Braves/Pirates game in 2011, or the Jim Joyce call on Gallaraga’s perfect game. Either of those should easily have made this list.
It's not a controversial calls. Suarez defrauded and was sanctioned by a penalty and a red card. The referee did his job. Ghana had the opportunity to repair the injustice and failed.
+Hunter Perdue No, there was only one bad call and that was when there was a "block below the waist" call against someone tackling a guy. THAT was a bad call. But Roethlisberger DID score and that WAS offensive pass interference that got called.
2010 FIFA World Cup... most important SPAIN matches had something controversial about them, the offside goal vs. portugal, the penalties vs Paraguay, and the play before iniesta's goal where Sneijder's free kick hit the wall and what was supposed to be a corner, was given a goal kick that a minute later lead to the goal and Howard Webb the ref completely ignoring a clear foul in the penalty area. Start watching in minute 114 if you want to see. 2:23:50 /watch?v=zmkfopuLza4?t=2h23m50s
Why don´t you talk about how Netherlands were hitting spanish player during the game playing dirty as hell and how Howard Webb didn´t call them? Even Johan Cruyff said that he felt ashamed because of the dirty Nehterland´s game
I won't say that they didn't play too rough; but there's nothing controversial about that. /watch?v=9gZy2agnHfU and /watch?v=S1aT97dbikk to show it wasn't all "hitting" there was a lot of diving too.
0:40 The Fail Mary! 1:27 The 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualification France-Ireland Playoff. 2:01 The 1996 ALCS: Game 1. 2:35 The Tuck Rule! 3:10 The 1998 NFL Finals: Game 6. 3:49 Roy Jones' victory in the 1988 Summer Olympic Boxing event. 4:32 The 1985 Show Me State World Series: Game 6. 5:10 The 1999 Stanley Cup Finals: The No Goal Game 6. 5:39 The 1972 Summer Olympic Gold Medal Basketball Game. 6:17 The Hand of God! Dishonorable Mention: 6:47 The 1979 AFC Championship.
Maybe I'm a little biased as I'm a die-hard Packers fan, but I really think that was worse than the tenth worst call. I think it is definitely in the top 5.
Well I think it's lower because EVERYONE knew it was a bad call... Me and my sister who are die hard Seahawks fans were just screaming at the tv because it was such a bad call. Pretty obviously it should not have been a goal lol
That Packers game even though it was an early season game ended up deciding if they got home field advantage or not. Their season could have played out differently and they might have won 2 bowls in a row. We'll never know though.
Yeah I'm surprised as well. Maybe not top five in my opinion, but maybe a 7. The call was obviously blown. And a missed offensive pass interference would've ended it as well. And I guess I'm not sure on this, but when the Seahawks were awarded with the touchdown, the score was now 12-13 Seahawks with no time left. The game was already over, yet they let the Seahawks kick the extra point. Which was unnecessary (unless its buried in the rule book somewhere). But even after all that, I'd be willing to let it go, when some Seahawks fans just admit it was a terrible call. I respect those who admit it, and understand it wasn't the fans fault for the bad call, but those who stand by the touchdown have a poor argument.
South Korea vs Spain, Italy or Portugal (2002 WC), Chelsea vs Barcelona 2009 (The Stanford Bridge Scandal) Englands ghost goal vs Germany in 1966's World Cup Final
The funny thing is how people don't mention all the calls that have cost Pittsburgh games in the last five years or so. Like how about the Chiefs vs the Chargers where San Diego had 7 men on the field and it never got called.
the video is about what the affect of the bad call made, the England goal in1966 didn't matter if it was given or not, it wouldn't have affected the out come
littlezit2 Actually, you're wrong. Germany probably would have won. After all, Germany has beaten England in practically every important match throughout history (with a few minor exception), so what makes you think this is any different? England did not have a better team than Germany. It was a very balanced match. Besides, the Germans managed to not concede again (aside from Hurst's last goal where all the German defenders went up to try to score), so what makes you think England could have scored on them again? As far as I know, Germany is and was the better team.
WatchMojo if your gonna talk about European football or 'soccer' as you yanks call it then do your research! 'Some call it the hand of god others call it the goal of the century' they are two different goals!
I remember hearing about one from many Olympics ago where Russia who had always been dominant in figure skating at the time was given the gold medal despite that time around, Canada actually had the best score. The judges were about to regress their decision and give it to the Canadians, but the Canadians decided against it out of not wanting to feel pity. I tried looking this up on Google, I had a hard time finding it so I don't know whether it is even true now, but I just remember hearing about that from my brother who is a big sports fan.
Probably because it wasn't a foul. It's clear in even the short clip they showed he had his hand on him but he didn't have enough pressure to push him. The jiggly limp fingers prove it.
The "Fuck game", aka, the "Tuck rule game" was THE WORST miscarriage of justice that sports has ever seen. The Raiders were the better team, they dominated the Patriots and they WON the game, and the NFL officials took it away from them and GAVE it to the Patriots. Score should say Raiders 13 Patriots 10 Final.
I grew up watching basketball and played all through school and have never heard that Jordan game six shot was sketchy... the only thing I've heard about that shot is how legendary it is. And im in idaho where everyone is a jazz fan... I had a Carl Malone and Stockton poster on my wall!
TBH I don't understand why all sports don't have a ref constantly looking at monitors that is able to challenge or reverse any call.
I heavily agree with you!!
I completely agree with u. I hate people who argue that "human error"is a part of sports! Drives me insane!
It would delay the game just like it does now in American football. I'm pretty sure if NFL could do it quicker, they would, as it interrupts the game and diffuses fan enthusiasm.
so what if it delays the game a bit .. Isnt it worth a few moments to make sure its the right call so it doesnt end up on a list like this?
LOL So true
i think the whole 2002 fifa world cup should have been in this
***** yeah and the host nation south-koreas matches against italy and spain. horrific calls all match in the favor of south-korea
yeah and the italy match was a disgrace as well
Hoho Kim yep, because i'm definitely from Italy:D i'm actually from Finland. And yes, my point is mainly based on the Italy game. But i was just so mad, like s-korea on the semi finals? s-korea has always been shit with sports.
+Hoho Kim this is why no one has respect for the south korean team
+Hoho Kim lol sheep. how do you have internet access to RUclips from Korea is the real question?
Lampard's disallowed goal vs germany in the 2010 WC.
Im not even english nor german and was pretty irritated that the ref didnt call that a goal.
It was 4:1. A 4:2 wouldn't have changed anything so stop crying :'D
+Pure SKiILlzZ It would have motivated england
The Career Mode Player We would still have beaten you by at least 2 goals :'D
***** Then we would have gone to penalty shooting and we alle know what would have happened :'DD
Frank lampard ghost goal?
+Harry Moran that was shocking
That wasn't even a ghost goal like the Geoff Hurst's goal in 1966. Lampard's goal was blatantly obvious. You didn't even need goaline technology for that.
Wembley WC 1966
Eddie Arafa Nah. Obviously a goal.
Thing about Wembley 1966 is another goal was scored after......So England still win with out the controversial goal. So one can argue the result was not affected.
"The Tuck Rule" was the worst call I have ever witnessed in my entire life.
Nah, just drinking the Beady haterade. Is it a bad rule? Yes, but the rules are rules.

He pump faked and the ball slips out of his hand. Why do think he deflates them.
codster9 Actually, the "Fail Mary" was the worst.
khazz01 Are you dumb?
korea-italy from 2002 world cup should be in
Panos Mazarakis Thank you!
+Panos Mazarakis
I couldn't agree more. But also Korea-Portugal and Korea-Spain should be in
+Panos Mazarakis Less the match itself as the Italian FA's reaction to the Korean player who scored.
Jim Joyce blowing galarraga perfect game.
Ikr
thank you, that cost him a perfect game. which theres been what 10, 12 in the history of baseball
g
+Barbara Hammon Yeah, they are rare (23), but a couple weeks before it there were two perfect games (Halladay & Braden)--so not that rare.
+cagedtigersteve not that rare? baseball has been around for over 100 years and there has only been 23 perfect games.. so think about that..
What about Frank Lampard's disallowed goal vs Germany (FIFA 2010)??

Out of that video that is what bothered you. Please just deal with the "derogatory phrase".
If that time worn phrase is your only problem, you don't have a problem. Get the F over it, wussy.
I cringed at your comment.
Not only did Ireland lose the match, we didn't get into the World Cup because of it...
Not that you had any chance to even progress through the group stage.
Fugedibobo The point is dickhead, France shouldn't have gone through, at the least, the game should have been replayed.
Murat Karaca It wasn't that bit which infuriated me though. It was the fact that France had one of their worst ever competitions due to a disagreement between players and the manager. M8 it's the entire game against Barca in the 2009 semis
Jones standing there being hugged like "The fuck is this?"
More like, "Get the fuck off of me."
I think every Mexican will always remember the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil mexico vs Netherlands game lol
#noerapenal
music63312 That game was in my city and I was at the stadium watching it, near to the robben's "dive", and I think it was penalty, no wrong call, sorry mate.
Benidin well idk out of all of the different angles I have seen that fall I have not seen a reason for that penalty.. mate?..
OmNomNomNomNom
anyways its still a bad call
lol. bad call. bad call. no its not. Robben foot was stepped on and it was a good call. you mexicans always find a stupid excuse like this.
are you stupid? and why are you making generalizations about Mexicans?
Barcelona vs Chelsea, 5 penalties weren't given for Chelsea, enough said.
ITS A FOCKING DISGRACE
And red card for Abidal for no reason
I was thinking the same thing.
***** Tell me when you arabs will stop watching football only because that's the way your daddys earn millions.
Mr Fedora better be a arab than a chelsea fan
where is the 2002 wcf Kings vs Lakers?!
Jovan Budisa
Dude ....... the NBA is more rigged than the WWE. And that series proved it.
Or 2006 NBA finals
The Jordan "push-off" wasn't a push-off. He was using his left hand on Russel's body to stop himself so he could get into position to shoot the jumper. No foul was committed.
Frank lampard disallowed goal at World Cup 2010??
1966 World Cup Final Wembley Goal?
ENGLAND still would of won though so if it went over or not doesn't really matter
Occasionally I will still weep at what could have been with that goal.
Then 4 years later they introduce goal line technology. Typical.
Daniel Harris England lost that game...
Yusef Basma what the 1966 world cup final ? are you stupid or trolling?
does anyone else find themselves in a Top 10 video streak.
lol thats all I've done today. Top 10 this Not Top 10 that . I think its time to stop
A well-deserved BRAVO to the individual(s) who decided that the 1979 AFC Championship Game should be mentioned! 'The Mike Renfro Game'! Well done!
"Goal of the century" and "Hand of God" are not the same goal.
Th Wembley Goal '66 is by far the most controversial referee decision. I'm not commenting wether the decision was right or wrong, but what's important is that to this day, there does not seem to be a common agreement on to the topic. So basically 50 years later it's still a highly discussed incident in sports' history. The fact that it is not even listed in this video is a joke.
totally agreed! murica...
Using today's technology, it has finally been proven....forget result.....research
England would have still one but I agree it never went across
How about that call that robbed that pitcher a 'perfect game'
Yea I'm a die hard tigers fan and I still remember watching that call. My 5 year old brother at the time could see he was out.
Yes, this.
the reason it isn't there is because there is no controversy. Joyce admitted he screwed up
Jeff Roper Yeah, but that still does not reverse the call. I still don't know how Jim Joyce is one of the best umpires if he messed up Armando's perfect game.
seeing that makes me sick i have his "almost perfect" poster on my wall, they should of given him the perfect game anyway
How is the Jordan play at #6 a contoversial call? They didn't call anything.
Exactly
+seymourglass26 the Jazz should have won
JT Ahlstrom
Lol. One game in a series where they were overall spanked.
The 2002 NBA Western Conference finals, Lakers-Kings. The entire game 6 was rigged.
Will Beard That's why, it was rigged but this list is about bad calls specifically
Will Beard
2002 WCF
facts show the Kings took more free throw attempts and committed fewer fouls than the lakers in that series....
that is a fact....the officiating favored the Kings.....that's a documented historical fact....
Shaq and Kobe are 2 of the alltime leaders in free throw attempts, and the kings STILL shot more free throws than the lakers did in that series
Kings took 204 free throws in the series....
Kings had a 106 to 63 FTA advantage in the 3 games they won.....with horry, kobe, and shaq each having a game in which they fouled out and the team lost...
these are the facts....they are undisputed...refs favored the Kings
Lakers were screwed by the refs.....good thing they had Shaq
Kobe Not Top 100
oh you're in denial. even lakers WRITERS thought the game was rigged. and the announcers and the crowd were stunned at hour bad the calls were
If this was made today, the Dez Bryant catch would be on there
But the ball clearly hit the turf
Yes he would
Lampard's goal against germany that didn't count was a pretty big one
That's what I was thinking...to this day that goal still haunts me.
LOL
Engerland got hammered, would have had no effect on the game
ned martin "Engerland" did get hammered.
Which game left me cursing the ref the most?
2009 UCL Semi-Final 2nd Leg Chelsea vs FC Barcelona
"The hand of God" is different than "The goal of the century"
The hand of God is Maradonna boxing the ball into the goal.
Even Indians fans were upset by that call. I know because I'm one of them.
I was trying to think of that to! I remember reading about that on ESPN or something
After the 2015-2016 season you could make a worst calls list with just the NFL.
+Jimmy Googer lol
Yes, Titans and Raiders
+Jimmy Googer redskins panthers
yea when packers fucked the lions
One of The best WatchMojo! Congrats guys!
How the hell do you forget about sac vs LA? Seriously? and what about seattle's last super bowl?
There wernt bad calls in super bowl 40
Jarek4GamingDragon I sense a Seahawk fan
As a kings fan I watched this just to see if it was in here how is it not?
@@breiter4697 Nope, I live in Portland. I'm a blazers fan. Not into football.
Hold on, wheres is the De Jong vs Spain world cup final 2010 or frank lampard diss allowed goal.
He actually could have killed Xabi alonso.
Yes, i remember i was a bit confused about the yellow card. Allthough i was only 14 years old lol
Not controversial, but shameful
actually the maker of this video is american and thinks american football & basketball are the only sports
+Haris Khan There was football or soccer on the list
Jordan didn't push dude just got shook
it should of been the foul on scottie pippen in game 5 1994 finals
"after the shock clock was reset twice in favor of the Soviets, they won 51-50."
im no chicago bulls fan, but i have to say, looking at 3:37 you can clearly tell MJ didnt push him
Well the good thing about Henry's handball is France then went into the World Cup and self destructed.
England v Germany, 2010 World Cup. Clear goal and what would have been a game changer.
The look on Hun's face says it all. He even went over to lift Jones in victory. Give Hun some credit, he never claimed that he won the fight, and was as shocked as everyone else.
Hmm, what do I think are the most controversial calls are, every call Joey Crawford makes in NBA.
Wembley '66, anyone?
It was World Cup *Final*.
Geoff Hursts 👌
Don't be silly....'86 W.C maradona .....cheating scum bag
+Iain Haworth The hand of god.
Don't cry,England stole the Malvina Island and we had to a little revenge...
+Leo Gallardo Argentinian's talking about crying?? Really dude??
Nicolas Melgarejo Yeah,If you say:
"Vs chile last america cup" It's kinda of wrong to say that we lose like bitches, because we lose because of penaltys...
"Vs germany last World Cup"
I was betting that Germany would won,and they won
So... Ironic right?
Unless this was made before the world cup 2010, Lampards goal against Germany should have been #1 instead of Maradona's goal in my opinion. It wasn't as important, but it was more obvious I think.
They mention that the list is based more around the importance of the call more than the actual call itself.
templetonbob ^ yes
It was made after 2010 as the first one is dated 2012
***** Not really that controversial as England would of won regardless
***** I mean the final score would of been 3-2
The Carolina vs Denver 2016 season opener, final quarter, Cam Newton goes for a pass (has no open recievers) throws out of bounds, and gets hit helmet to helmet late, Referee's call Roughing the Passer ( against Denver; 15 yard penalty ) and Intentional Grounding (against Carolina; 10 yard penalty), and called the penalties offsetting, but did not call helmet to helmet ( against Denver; 15 yard penalty) as well as multiple other helmet to helmet hits
Ronnie Emory thats not top 10 most controversial
there are missed calls every game. get over it.
Ronnie Emory Cam Newton sucks and you know it
Hardly a top 10 most controversial call of all sports
Ronnie Emory
The most corrupt football match I have ever seen was 2009 Chelsea vs Barcelona. The whole game stunk of corruption from the officials.....After the game the players, the manager and even the TV commentators were all saying something isn't right with this game. ( I am an Arsenal fan by the way) It was a disgrace to football!!
Primera Espada i dont even support chelsea and mourinho wasnt even the manager during that game............nutter
Like Drogba said, it was a fucking disgrace. Chelsea could have had at least 3 penalties and after having the lead for most of the match we were knocked out in the very end. As a Chelsea fan, it was extremely upsetting.
Primera Espada Thank you! Enjoy Chelsea being top of the Premier League!
Primera Espada United aren't even the best team in their city, they won't be top of the League for some years...
what about the penalty of bosingwa to henry in the first match in camp nou, what about the nonexistent red card to abidal and for the record the penalty it was 2 (the hand of pique and the hand of alves) everything else was diving
The "Fail Mary" was only at #10? Give it some time, and it should climb up onto the list, because what was a really bad call. And I'm not not even a Packers or Seahawks fan here.
The "Fail Mary" and "Tuck Rule" were the biggest injustices I've ever seen in football. And i love how Golden Tate still won't admit it
Again, as they mentioned, they weren't ranked for how bad they were, they were ranked by the importance of the game. That play happened in week 3 of the season. Had it been a playoff game or a late season moment that decided the champion then maybe, but if you remember the packers won the division that year anyway so the game wasn't really that important at all.
Kyle Raymer I agree that they were ranked on importance of game.
TheOdiCrew I know but we all should all agree packers had the ball. And then they made them come out to kick the field goal.
***** Amen
1:58 Thats what she said.
another top 10 list of controversial calls needs to be made
They could start with the 2019 NFC Championship Game and the most obvious missed Pass Interference call in football history.
this isn't something that changed the course of football history, but the match between Chelsea and Barcelona in the 2009 UEFA CL semi-finals was disgusting!
it was rigged
we all know uefalona gets every call.
Roy's like. "Put me down dude. -.-; "
that Pacquiao/Bradley unanimous decision loss was so bad it should have been illegal
in 2006/2007 the Nashville Predators scored to make it 6-3 in the 3rd period however the goal was waved off because the referees "intended to blow the whistle" before the puck went in the net.
John Colt You shuld see this video (the foul dosen't exist, so Suárez makes justice to take off the ball with his hands!) watch?v=jasUK3D9cYY Suárez do the right thing, and he saw the red card, and penalty but Muntari shit his pants haha
that can't be a controversial call, since it didn't affect the outcome of the match, if ghana would have won, then you have an argument, but since they didn't its not controversial.
obviously ur understanding of the word controversial is wrong
John Colt obviously you are clearly wrong if you think it was unfair for Ghana. The ref did the correct thing, and really he did the only thing that should have been done. What do you expect the ref to do? give Ghana the goal? Santiago is right, one the foul didn't exist and two the Ghana players were clearly offside, so if Ghana would have won then yes, it would have been very controversial.
What about frank lampards goal in the 2010 World Cup against Germany. The ball clearly passed the line but the ref didn't allow it
That was a bad call, but considering it ended 4-1 I wouldn't put it in front of any of these.
matthew ethridge yes, but in that goal was the 2-1 to england (i'm sorry about my bad english, i dont speak very well)
matthew ethridge Remember they were starting a comeback that scored a couple of plays before. That goal would of changed the flow of the game
2002 WCF game 6 Kings vs Lakers.
The Colorado 5th down was a huge miss here. It led to the Buffaloes winning a share of the 1990 National Championship. It should be on this list.
I think this has to be the most controversial list of controversial calls I've ever seen.
I don't think the game itself was an important one, but Armando Galarraga's perfect game that was ruined by a bad call with 2 outs in the 9th inning was pretty bad.
They should call the play by its more common name - Fail Mary

frank lampard's WC 2010 disallowed goal against germany
If they had stuck to their premise, to rank the entries by importance of the game, there would've been a lot more football on this list. Like the Wembley goal of 1966, the "reverse Wembley goal" 2010, the Grosso penalty in 2006 all the screw-ups in the 2002 world championship, since all those things happened in world championships, not some national league.
And even the Thierry Henry goal should have ranked higher in my opinion, we were about to knock out a team that was considered one of the Top 5 in the world, and we got screwed. I'd say it was worthy of 5th or 6th, not 9th.
Evin Hughes agreed
Evin Hughes
I will be forever ashamed for that "helping hand" from Henry, who I highly estimated before that incident.
Too much money in sports caused its own loss, or at least the loss of the original spirit of these sports...
oh boy the 2002 world cup was just a shit fest damn, i remember my dad being so pissed about korea fucking our country ( Portugal) and many more
England vs Germany, Lampards shot that clearly crossed the line
that was kharma ;)
As a Seattle fan the win over Greenbay was an EPIC win.
The call to pass and not go BeastMode, vs. NE, was EPIC fail.
The fucking Roy jones jr boxing one was definitely the worst
How are all the calls from the Kings vs. Lakers game not on here!?!?!
#1 is easily the most controversial call in sports history, good list
Doesn't look like he "punched" it to me.
MrBarlion You can look up Diego Madonna's hand of god play on youtube and it'll zoom in and go super slow motion.
Amanda De Leon
there is a side shot were you can claerly see it
#1 isn't controversial, Maradona cheated and punched the ball with his hand. He was a dirty player, end of story
MrBarlion look it up then
i remember something similar to #8 happening at a pirates game once. I was up at the top section and a home run was called but a fan reached out and grabbed the ball. I have no idea why they want to catch a ball that they have to reach out into the field to grab it.
I dont argue that all calls were controversial but I just wish you would not be so biased towards American sports.
You forgot every flop lebron did
Have you guys thought about a top ten greatest comebacks in sports history?

dez Bryant vs the Packers lackers
How? It was incomplete based on the rule. I think it is stupid and should be a catch though. This is coming for a packer fan. Also there was 4:00 on the clock. Super easy for Aaron Rodgers to get a field goal
Same here
this is from 2013
Ahmo Lumbreras THANK YOU!!!
I know wyatt. It's so annoying when people complain about it. They don't realize that the refs made the right call and that it wasn't debatable, and on top of that the packers drove and got into field goal range and still would have won the game.
Dez Bryant's catch pissed me off
That's called a justice call for the officiating in Detroit
+jmandabest The officials in the Detroit game had fuck all to do with Dez's catch.
+jmandabest and then the Seattle comeback was justice for the pack. GO PACK GO
+shocker Plays cuz it was a catch and the NFL the last decade has been a complete whitewash.

JMatt Villanueva FUCK YES THAT SHIT SHOULD HAVE BEEN #1!!!!!!!!
that still keeps me up at night
No man should have a perfect game robbed of him like that.
I thought _controversial_ implied the possibility of the alternative.
Most of the calls here were just plain wrong.
And that's your nitpick of the day, folks!
Have fun!
Jerry Meals’ call in the Braves/Pirates game in 2011,
or the Jim Joyce call on Gallaraga’s perfect game. Either of those should easily have made this list.
Uruguay vs Ghana at the 2010 world cup, Suarez pulled a cheap handball and it got them to the semi finals of the competition.
nonsense ghana fail to score the penalty, im not from uruguay, but it is the truth
It's not a controversial calls.
Suarez defrauded and was sanctioned by a penalty and a red card.
The referee did his job.
Ghana had the opportunity to repair the injustice and failed.
Where is Super Bowl 40 Seahawks steelers that whole game the Seahawks should of won two horrible calls
Right next to the Dallas Mavericks losing that same year to the Cheat for the same reason. 2006 was a bad year.
+Hunter Perdue No, there was only one bad call and that was when there was a "block below the waist" call against someone tackling a guy. THAT was a bad call. But Roethlisberger DID score and that WAS offensive pass interference that got called.
+Hunter Perdue Steelers won 21-10. 6 rings bitch

Well this is problem for whatever team you like
***** Good point
What about the 2006 Superbowl that the Steelers "stole" from the Hawks? Two bad calls swayed that game into a tragedy.
The funny thing is how people don't mention all the calls that have cost Pittsburgh games in the last five years or so. Like how about the Chiefs vs the Chargers where San Diego had 7 men on the field and it never got called.
You didn't include the Jim Joyce blown call that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game on the last out!!
Frank Lampards goal against Germany was the most controverial call to disallow in the history of WC after the Hand of God goal.
What about the wemblay final? in 1966 you don't even score and got the goal anyway.

Vikings vs Saints 2009 NFC Championship, all the no calls, and bad officiating in the 4th and OT.
Also the Vikings vs Ravens game this season. Gerharts fumble?! Greenway's PI?! It was some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.
The most controversial call should be the NFC championship game Saints vs Rams with that missed pass interference.
100% true
What about 1966 World Cup final? I'd say that's the most controversial call ever in the World Cup.
i was just about to post that. beat me to it
the video is about what the affect of the bad call made, the England goal in1966 didn't matter if it was given or not, it wouldn't have affected the out come
littlezit2 dont comment if you dont know anything about it. the score was 2-2 in extra time when that goal was scored, it was a huge game changer.
ZakSinz I think his argument is that soccer doesn't matter and no matter who won or lost it's irrelevant because soccer is dumb.
littlezit2 Actually, you're wrong.
Lampar's disallowed goal.
WatchMojo if your gonna talk about European football or 'soccer' as you yanks call it then do your research! 'Some call it the hand of god others call it the goal of the century' they are two different goals!
It bothered me too. And I'm American.
Well, in that case I apologize for the word 'Yanks'. Very nice, to hear that you were bothered.
Actually the calling it soccer originated in Britain
Yeah but no one in Britain calls it soccer
They're Canadian.

Pacquiao vs Bradley. Even Bradley himself was shocked he won.
never heard of that Jordan shot being controversial
You must not be a Utah fan. People were flipping shit over that for a long time.
Probably because it wasn't a foul. It's clear in even the short clip they showed he had his hand on him but he didn't have enough pressure to push him. The jiggly limp fingers prove it.
Butthurt is the same as controversial, just look at the internet.
tmar23 Even if Jordan didn't push, as his hand came down it smacked the back of his leg which could still be a foul.

Tom Brady is the GOAT
Read the rulebook. The ref didn't explain the call properly, it was a rule that year, but is no longer.
+Skillmaster No surprise people call that "The Fuck Game." What happened was the first known instance of pirates being raped!
+Skillmaster Raider fans need to look up Ben Drieth. The Tuck Rule game was a 25 year wait for justice.
The tuck rule was the correct call
I grew up watching basketball and played all through school and have never heard that Jordan game six shot was sketchy... the only thing I've heard about that shot is how legendary it is. And im in idaho where everyone is a jazz fan... I had a Carl Malone and Stockton poster on my wall!
