I replaced the giant apes, ogres, and other very incongruous room occupants, and random table entries, with unnatural-looking "vat creatures" (like the Magen from X2) with equivalent levels and attacks. It really freaked my players out as they realized that these semi-autonomous flesh golems had broken free from the control of the Cult of Zargon. The same creatures in the random encounters were accompanied by hobgoblins in Zargon cult livery who were equipped with nets and mantraps, hunting for slaves/sacrifices. Swapping out or reskinning a bunch of the encounters to better fit the weird/pulp fantasy S&S style really made the theme and environmental strangeness pop.
I took Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan, flipped it upside down, and replaced the lower vaults with it. I had described the Cynidiceans above as pale-almost-grey-skinned with swollen, bulged eyes. That set the players up to expect greater mutations below, so I described the monsters in that module as vastly mutated cynidicean worshipers of Zargon.
your reviews are great. I like listening to them while i work. It would be nice if you would have the artwork on screen for longer when you talk about it.
The slime on the blade trap is in the text. It has no effect, though. It's just to scare the players (because huge swinging blades just aren't scary enough).
Love the content but 1 suggestion. You showed us a quick glimpse of the pendulum trap and then cut back to your face and then you started talking about the details in the picture we could no longer see. It would have helped to just leave the picture up that whole time you taked about it instead of for a few seconds before discussing the details.
Holloway is playing with the light, so I found it hard to tell, but you certainly could be dead on with this, and yeah, that is certainly Darius. Nice catch!
@@artofthegenre6087 Yep. The Cinidicians are cowering away from the light under the table on the bottom right, and blinded by a light spell on the top right. Nasks and all..

I am currently running this using Old School Essentials Advanced Fantasy, and I have come to steal your ideas! 😁
Awesome, let me know how it goes!

First-timer (well, second I guess given Ch 1-2). Really like your review/overview -- and I LOVE the Crown Royal dice bag in the shelf behind you! :)
The first module I ever played

I've got that Blue Sun shirt, too!
Lol, love that shirt!
I divided the treasure in the adventure by ten each time.
Keep them honest and hard working
