- This is my all time favourite game from The Crystal Maze, even now I can't stop laughing at this pathetic effort!! ;) Genius!
Not sure how the copyright works but this show was originally on Channel 4 - I taped it from Challenge TV.
"Oh, what a shame, it looks like there's some holes in the bottom of the bucket." One of my all time favorite lines from Richard. It's the way he says it. Absolutely brilliant!
"This is a horrible, horrible game that I love and I adore."

this game looks impossible! The holes in the bucket are just the ultimate kick in the teeth really aren't they?
I feel like the rules are very vague. I would've just walked through the water. It just seems impossible so forget the rope and log.

I really sympathise with the contestant, this is a sadistic game.
Like adding holes to the bottom of the bucket is by any means necessary

I love it when the heads of teammates pop up through windows, bars, and curtains every time a contestant enters a room. It's just funny, I don't know why.
I feel that a lot of the games were invented to make a real fool of the contestants.
More likely added to make sure the contestants didn't win too many crystals

Feed the God was the most evil game on the show, love it! guaranteed to make an ass out of someone everytime.
There are actually clips of the producers of this show at the time laughing at the contestants in a really nasty and heartless way.

I don't know if I've missed something every time, but it's always seemed to me that there aren't any 'rules' in terms of the games - the easiest way you can do something is the best generally - and it seems that, if she was able to wade through with the water at about her waist, maybe she could have done that the whole time ? Just filled the bucket and waded, repeat, etc ? There seem to be a few cheats which people don't pick up on, I'm sure cheats would go unpunished if EVER used by anyone...
The Crystal maze - a huge huge studio of four time zones in an aircraft hangar in the 90s.

I watched all episodes a couple of weeks ago, this game was one of the hardest ever in TCM. A guy managed to complete it though!

Was there not that game in the ocean zone where they needed to lasso a rope ladder in order to escape? I remember that game having many automatic lock ins.

This has got to be one of if not the cruelest game in the Crystal Maze.
If you notice.....the tautness of the rope varied each time this was played. The more loose it was, the harder it was to cross.
Pretty sure some games in TCM were designed by sadists.
Were there any rules to this challenge apart from "get the crystal"? Because I would've just gotten in the water and used that same water to fill the vessel that releases the crystal. No faffing with a wobbly bridge or red water or leaking baskets or ropes.
Richard was very charasmatic to say the the least on the maze Ed Tudor-Pole wasn't bad at presenting it but i think Richard was more succesfully because he added personaily to his role unlikey Edaward

I loved this show as a kid. Just watching some teams make a real ham-arse of the challenges, and finishing with only 1 crystal in the dome... :D

I saw this one a few times... did anyone EVER get it? If I recall, didn't it also slowly leak out of the tube when it was poured into the god? Utterly brutal, I really don't think was at all possible to win this one between the leaky bucket, loose rope, multiple freely rotating logs and inevitable slippery wetness. Fun to watch though :)
Fill the bucket while you are on the ledge at the start. Before starting on the rolling log bridge, take up the slack ahead of you on the rope so that it is taut.

I thought that 👍 still going to be VERY hard with spinning logs and holes in bucket but I think this is the 'easiest' way 👍

skim the bottom of the bucket above the water and nothing will drain :)
wouldn't it? surely the level would go down and the level of the pool go up by the relative amount (a nanometer)
tim988 You'd need to keep the levels inside equal with outside, don't think that would be a good plan here considering all variables!
there is one guy who did succeed at this game by the skin of his teeth
It's a fairly simple game. Fill the bucket up. Place it at elbow's length to reduce sway. Wrap the loose rope around your fist until it tightens. Use your other hand to guide the tight rope along. Rinse and repeat.
Keyword rinse. Cos that's what you'll get falling in the water

I'm not British, so, although I've heard of The Crystal Maze and seen clips of it, I always thought the guy hosting it was someone who looked like Richard O'brien, not, y'know, actually Richard O'brien.

I don't understand why this was the funniest game ever? Sure, it was entertaining and slightly amusing, but it wasn't hilarious.

Yeah.....the new ones are based on Steve McQueens overalls in the film Le Mans. I now own the red overalls & 2 contestant jackets from the later series.
Oh yes The Crystal Maze is totally the easiest game show ever.. NOT. Why are people so rude to contestants on the internet calling them idiots, saying epic fail. Why do YOU shout at the television...COULD YOU DO THE GAMES? It would've been a dream to do this game when I kid. But I grew up and the games would be a nightmare to play. Could you do the games? How many people have been lucky to get 10 Crystals. Its all about luck not fail. So SHUT UP.

never knew about this show before, so probably a dumb question but did the contestant HAVE to use the spinning log "beam" or could they have simply walked through the water while carrying the bucket???

Pathetic nothing: between the rolling log and hole in the bucket this would test most anyone, let alone the average game show player.
