Personally I secure all goods, small light goods go in my cargo net and heavy goods get strapped down or strapped to the side to secure ,another good vid Neil

Years ago I used our transit van to move 200 litre drums of solvent between our two sites, just 2 miles apart. The drums had a small metal strap over them going through the pallet. We never bothered to strap the pallet to the van as we were only going a short distance and we knew nothing could go wrong. One day as I was getting close to the delivery site a car reversed out of a drive into my path without looking and I had to swerve sharply to avoid it, then swerve back again to avoid the car coming towards me on the other side of the road. I was only travelling at around 30 mph but the violent swerves tipped the drum, broke the metal strap, and it fell off the pallet. The drum burst when it landed and 200 litres of industrial solvent poured out. I could not drive the van due to the overpowering smell of the solvent so stopped and opened the rear doors. When we finally got the van to the site and washed it out with a hose all of the paint on the floor of the van lifted off and washed away. We always strapped loads after that, even if only moving around the site.

Thank you for this, it is a great example, and hopefully it reaches someone who needs.
      Thank you

I'd be more worried about being overweight. Fair play to you though, I drive a 26 tonner and don't put anywhere near as much thought into strapping a tiny little load like that. With such a small, light and tiny load I'd just shove it against the headboard, maybe kick a wedge against it

I put all items however small,as near the bulkhead as possible. That way if a numpty doesn’t shut the rear doors properly the item can’t fall out.
    800kg - isn’t that close to max payload ?

Too damn right you should tie the pallets down. If you think adverse things won't happen then ALWAYS think again. If you change direction suddenly a load of several hundred kilos has the ability to drop your van on its side........don't ridicule that statement,I've seen it happen. If you don't secure any load properly you deserve all you get ........

lets face it....If you were employed you wouldn't be allowed to move that 80kg piece of equipment like you did by yourself
