Not a great week, saved by a direct contact, I think I rambled a little to much as well.

  • Well the week started with great enthusiasm, but the lack of available work Monday Tuesday was a disappointment, luckily a local courier company had 2 great days to round off the week.

I can concur it's definitely less busy this August infact I reckon the whole year has been pretty poor. This week I had two good days and the rest not that great. I had one customer who thought I was ripping him off charging him more than £2.50 to go through the Dartford tunnel. He started checking the prices online whilst I was talking to him on the phone. I'm just hoping September will be more busy as people go back to work after the school holidays

    Hello Neil
I also do breakfast at McDonald's.
I also use the Greggs breakfast offering for a similar price to the maccies offer.
    I also have a Vito.
This one is my third one. All three have been super reliable even with over 250,000 on the clock.
My current Vito has 165,000 on the clock.
Air con is a must in every van i have had for the last 25 years!
Luckily i dont use any apps because i am in a different situation to most couriers.
    I am semi retired.
So far, August has been goood to me but I do recall that August 23 was very poor indeed
Last week i picked up a new customer courtesy of an existing client.
Their work will be roughly once a week from Greater Manchester to Berkshire.
They know i am a one man band, and they also appreciate that my service is good and my insurances, particularly my public liability insurance, are always up to date..
These details are very important for a well known plc.
    Stay safe...Pete

I've been keeping an eye on courier firms that I have been involved with over the years. They seem to have switched from churning drivers to churning office staff. I'm guessing they are running out of room on wage costs and don't think they can get any more blood out of the stone on driver rates. The barriers to entry on this game are getting higher and higher....

Hello I'm interested in how your getting on with your vito I too have a vito 2021 I'm just about to hit 100k in 2.5 years I'm yet to have any issues with it I'm my eyes it's got to be the best van especially for distance have you had many issues with yours I do multi drop work and can't fault the van I hope to have it for another 200k mine was brought as a canceled order. Is there any spec you would have liked to have added if you were buying your van from new led light heated seats adaptive cruise blind spot mounting. For me I was lucky that I managed to find a van with the led lights as its a must for me but wish I had adaptive cruise and heated seats

@@flakey07 hi, great question I also think the Vito is totally fit for purpose,
I am at 150k miles just one issue seised rear caliper slide bolts, otherwise the van is prone to bumper chips, but that is about it, mine is an auto which I love
I don’t think heated seats are worth it but cruse control is a must have,
I change my oil at 12k miles I did some videos on why a little while back Mercedes say 24k but independent oil analysis says oil is done near 10k.
I suggest getting the Brake callipers off and slides done at 100k and fully refurbished at 200k,
What engine do you have ?

Last week was tough, I was sat in hillington and saw one of the jobs you mentioned, someone took it at that rate too.
Interesting that you take confidence from the “same day payments” I take from it they want someone who wants fast cash and will work for a lower rate.
