    My reptile hobby is what got me into plants.
    Now just a few months later I find myself here with not only my terrarium plants but also over a dozen houseplants that have nothing at all to do with my reptile keeping.

    I think if you want to grow it in a garden bed or pot then just propagate directly to soil, giving it some shade and moisture. It's not just about growing roots but accustoming the 'cuttings' to the soil it will be growing in. I would cut the cuttings into little sections. As long as the sections have a node each and do not rot or dry up, it should eventually grow out new leaves. I would make little 'columns' in the soil with a toothpick if the sections aren't too thick and insert the sections in these 'columns'. Sometimes just sticking the sections in the space between stems of existing plants with the surrounding soil is sufficient to propagate. I move the stems of existing plants around a bit to create 'space' between the stem and surrounding soil, insert the sections, and release the stem. The stem of existing plants would help keep the sections in place which would otherwise be dislodged by various activities around maintaining the moisture and tidiness of a garden bed or pot

    Thank you! I am working on propogating mine in water currently, however I'm noticing the leaves and stems are starting to droop. Some cuttings are larger, some smaller. Will they still root even if they're wilting like this?

    • @EdViAriah
      @EdViAriah  2 года назад +3

      Hi make sure that the ends of the cuttings are reaching the water and put them away from direct sun exposure. I normally experience drooping and wilting if I put the cuttings direct to soil but not water. Check the condition of your water, make sure they are deep enough to reAch at least 1/3 of the stem cuttings. Remove the wilted stems, change the water again to give the others a change to root. Good luck!

      @@EdViAriah Tha k you for your reply. I took your advice and removed the wilted ones. I have four left that seem to be fine in the water. They haven't fired roots yet, though they haven't wilted. I wonder if the tiny buds on the nodes needed to be removed in order to promote root growth. I had left them in tact, however today I decided to plic all of the tiny buds off in hopes that would speed up the process :)

After a few days I noticed yung one plant, the lower leaves were curling and drying up then eventually would fall off. Even the little leaves growing off the stem itself were drying up.
    I mist them everyday. Im in the UK and wag daw masyadong water pag winter, so yun yung sinunod ko.

      Hi, actually madali lang sya alagaan. For me mas nahihirapan pa nga ako everytime I put some of them inside the house because of lighting conditions, not enough light kc sa house namin, but they are doing good outside even with few hours of sun in the morning. Curling could be a sign of too much sun, try moving it to a shadier spot with indirect sun. Yung pag dry and falloff ng leaves sign of underwatering e, we need to water this plant regularly. Yung plants ko indoors i don't mist them, to help with humidity i place a small glass of water with pebbles beside them or a saucer with pebbles and water ipatong mo yung pot dun, they do better pag ganun. Makikita mo lagi nag da dry out Yung water, replenish them regularly. I hope that helps, Goodluck with your polka dot plants, probably adjusting too kc kakabili mo palang. 😊
