Had to google how much this might be in the UK, £8750.... CRF300RALLY £6500.... Transalp £9500 without the extras... this makes the thinking that the extra tech on bikes usually puts them out of my range vanish... an eye opener for most of us... and let's face it spending big bucks on other brands doesn't always equal reliability and build quality.
    Good to see Clubby.

I have one of the first 800MT Touring bikes and after the fueling software upgrade it has been absolutely brilliant! Seat height is related to ones inseam length and for a short arse like me its still a stretch because the brilliantly comfortable seat is quite wide reducing your reach to the ground but at least I can manage this bike not like most of the adventure bikes!
My other bike is a BMW 1200 RS and it is also not smooth at that 2500 - 3000 rpm range at 50 - 60mh/hr going through towns. My Ducati`s low speed fuelling was way worse!
Over all this is a great bike even before you factor in the price.....!

I've just ordered one & it should arrive at the New Zealand dealership in a couple of days. I used to race motor cross back in the day on a Suzuki TM 250. With a suspension of only around 6" at the end of a race you were nakered. After a break from this I got back into Trail riding on a range of bikes from Suzuki, Kawasaki & Gasgas. I've watched heaps of youtube videos on this bike & I cant wait to jump on it, wrap my knees around the tank & go mental 👍👍

For all those watching the new updates have completely changed the way the system operates and you can change all the bike modes on the fly in the first three modes, as long as the throttle input is zero.
Separately, the star button is a shortcut the user can present to suit themselves.
The new interface and the like have completely changed this bike and user interface to be 100% better than before and puts the bike twice the price to shame.
The newest version of the software is 1.00.61 for Australia.
One thing to note with the rear cross-traffic alert, addition to the display, should the car behind you be coming up to fast, the bike will also flash its rear brake light and a secondary high impact red light, to try and alert the driver of the bikes presence.

Looks like a good value for money motorcycle as a ADV touring bike for big trips and the lifetime lap of Oz. A software update could sort the clunky screen navigation to be more intuitive in the future. Value is that it has all the required items that are aftermarket for other brands. Thanks Clubby and Dave.

Great review. I’ve got the first Model 800MT. I love it. The fueling has been sorted now with an update from CFMoto via the App. I could do the software update at my home using the app on my phone. Dave mentioned that Clubby wasn’t so enthusiastic about it after riding the first model. I think you guys didn’t get a long enough ride on it and the new software wasn’t available then. The new software has made big difference. The first model rides the same as the new explorer except it doesn’t have the new ride modes.

I’ve decided to give it a crack. Picked mine up yesterday. Currently 4 bikes in the garage and two are BMW’s, one being a GSA. I’m with Clubby on this, there are a lot of positives and it rides well. It’s not engineered like a BMW but I would say it’s a fusion of good parts that are well finessed, and it has literally everything. This morning it was 5 degrees and the heated seat 👍🏻 it’s a winner.

Hi Dave and Clubby from Texas. Man Clubby was smiling Ear to Ear about the Bike. I can’t believe how much this Bike comes with, it has everything. The Chinese covered all the Bases on this one. The only thing that would make me wait to Buy one, is the long Term reliability. Really on everything from the Engine to the Shocks, Frame, everything. By the Time all that is settled, I will probably be ready for a New Bike anyway. For everything you get with this Bike Stock at that Price point. I think CF Moto will be outselling everything on the Market. If anything, maybe it will force the big Names to lower the Price of their Bikes, or at least include all the Goodies Stock. Top confort for conductor and pillion, Air protection increasable: just bought a +5 cm tall screen because of air turbulence on the upper part of helmet. About performance I didn't yet tested 100% because still in break-in range. Anakee adventure tyres are very "glued" at ground, but very, very noisy at cornering. Hope this will end while riding a lot. Voice command I think based on SIRI platform, and only in english at the moment (I'm italian and is not a problem to give voice command in english, but it's just for better perfection :))). America) at a recent bike rally and instantly fell in love. Also, sat-nav was only available through the CF Moto app and only route guidance on the TFT, no map.Oh, and none of the lane departure/collision alert tech.

Interesting review. I test rode a 650 Adventura this week and I was surprised at the good power, but the fueling is not good. Let off the gas and it feels like the brakes are on, and then lightly twist the throttle and it jerks ahead -- pretty much impossible to be smooth in that transition. My '21 Suzuki Van Van 200 has a similar feeling, but because of the much smaller engine capacity, it's not as problematic. And on a partly cloudy day, I was riding north with sun behind me and the display was completely washed out -- I could see nothing. These kinds of things should be handled through validation testing at the manufacturer, and the fact that they weren't leads me to believe that there are probably other components that weren't fully tested. As the reviewer stated, the buyer can save thousands of dollars in purchase price compared to the Japanese or European branded bikes if you're willing to accept sacrifices both in ownership satisfaction and in resale value.

    Hi MAD,Tv.
Looks like Xmas is going to fun, just waiting for the Benelli 800/x to come out, the 500x was good but needed more power for me, test rode the mt800 before and after the tune/fuelling issue, and loved it but was sceptical on the reliability of a new model/bike.
Forget what the bikes got the enthusiasm will sell this machine.
Thanks once again for pleasuring me again...lol.

Hi appreciate all the great info on your bike reviews I'm very interested in this explore model got a vstrom 650xt 2020 considering 800DE but with all the value this bike I'm tempted. One question do you think it would comfortability make it to Arkaroola ive done most of flinders on vstrom just not the Samuel track or skytrek i want a bike that can do a bit more. This may be a more top heavy and struggle with slow stuff. I also watched your reviews on suzuki and transalp out of all three which would do the mt Samuel track in Flinders or skytrek if you're familiar with these tracks thanks

I'm 118kg 6ft so are you guys doing an in-depth review on the explore model. As Clubby say is it able to get to Arkaroola what's your say thanks. Plan to test 800DE and transalp

Seems CFMOTO really pose an aggressive price strategy, trying to grab a large piece of the pie of lucrative adv bike market. The only concern for this product might be of its assembly quality control. KTM (as well as most Europe bikes) has already gained no upper hand in the reliability competition with Japan brands. A "Chinese-made" KTM might further amplify such concern and need a long time to establish its reputation as a solid product. A three-year unlimited Kms warranty like Royal Enfield promised to its Himalayan and interceptor may be a good initiative to lay such consideration into rest.

Learning ADV is most likely best on a 650 single or less to be frank. Get a second hand bike at a very reasonable price, most likely already set up and go ride it. If you haven't ridden much dirt the last thing you need is a bike that weighs more than 200 kgs.

Just bought a new 2022 ktm 890 Adventure R and with this found loose bolts and the motor running on one cylinder. The most unreliable part for this bike will be the ktm motor and the cam issue, unless this has been sorted. For adventure being dirt roads and back roads this bike is a bargin. I'm waiting for someone to import the Kove 450 Rally which has, todate been getting very good reviews.

Sounds like a bargain from a price point of view and all the gadgets will make for a comfortable ride, but………. The reliability and engine response, smoothness, and handling are the priority, everything else is a bonus. The Europeans and Japanese are going to have to step up and start adding a lot more tech to their bikes as standard. Yamaha and honda still don’t fit cruise control and tubeless rims to their middleweight ADV bikes.
