I think you should call your sweater to the "Taylered" sweater. A spin on tailored using your name in the actual spelling.😉
That’s a great name 😊
I love this❤ best name and so fitting
Awesome name!!
I've never been so early to any YT video haha this was perfect timing
Yay! Happy you’re here. ❤
It's a "Taylered" sweater! Ba dum tsss. I'll see myself out lol.
🤣
I do 60 stitches on 2.5 mm needles for my Patons Kroy yarn. They fit perfectly! Patons Kroy and Opal are my favorite sock yarns.
Thank you for mentioning this! I ended up decreasing down to 64 stitches here and it's working really well. It's good to know now moving forward with this yarn. ❤️
Another lovely, cheerful podcast. When you share how you are stepping out of the comfort zone of following a knitting pattern and trying something on your own, you inspire others to do the same. Love the saffron colourway and I am looking forward to your shop update next weekend.
I love that the needle case has wool felt! They used to use that to oil their steel needles and keep them from rusting!
I love Patons Kroy sock yarn - it's truly my favorite. Their self-striping yarn is unmatched, but you are 100% right that it's at least sport weight. I love it because I'm such a tight knitter that I can use slightly bigger needles and it goes faster, PLUS like you said socks made from it are so resilient.
Yes, totally. I feel like it makes a great boot sock fabric! And you don't feel so bad about shuffling around the house in them. ❤️
Knitting Paton's Kroy is a real joy. What a beautiful color.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who gets new yarn and then changes my lineup of my next project. Have fun!
Omg I’m SO sad - I lived in Dallas for 12 years and we moved away just 6 months before Knit Dallas opened. It’s only 3 blocks from our old house 😭 Looks so amazing. I always love to see what you grab and what you’re working on ❤
I have knitted a pair of sock with the Payton’s Kroy turquoise colorway and I love it
Again!!!
You have taught me so many things since watching you … and so informative in this video ❤
Thank you Taylor for all you do … everyone loves you !!😊
Started my sock journey by watching Kate's lessons on Craftsy , learned so much and it is so pleasant to watch !
I am with you on flying...I death grip my Rosary.
One of my first pair of socks was done in Paton's Kroy--on US#1.5 Hiya Hiya Sharps DPNs. I still have the scars. LOL I love the yarn, though. It made lovely, thick socks that--though they are too big because of the yarn weight and using a larger needle--I tend to wear as house socks, often over another pair. Thanks for your update. I always enjoy the visit. 🥰
That sock yarn is beautiful. Your dad is fortunate
The recognition story is a fun one. Well done. Thanks.
Tayler - Re: your comments on wanting textured sweaters. The only adult size sweater I've made (hoping for #2 this year) was the Little Waves by Gudrun Johnston and I love the finished project, as does my husband for whom I knit it. Now, perhaps an all-over cable-y cardigan in a rustic charcoal gray wool was not the best 1st sweater project, but that will be a potential future episode for my podcast.
Did you know that you were mentioned on the Needles at the Ready podcast? Ray made your fire pit mitts and had all good things to say about it.
I also enjoy knitting with Kroy sock yarn. Great visual comparing it with indie fingering weight. Thank you for the always interesting and informative visit.
I always look forward to seeing what you’re knitting and hearing your honest and thoughtful opinions. I really appreciate that you include some ‘big box’ yarns that you enjoy. I think it’s very considerate of folks who are on a budget. When my year of stash-busting is over, I plan to try some of your yarn. ❤
This was so fun! I can only imagine the delight that you must have felt to be recognized. It’s that kind of energy shot that you can draw from any time you need it. I appreciated you also acknowledging the courage of the lovely knitter who said hello. 😀 This time I missed the mug mention! Is that Dolly? Details, please, dear Tayler. ♥️
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one Suzanne! And indeed. It was a big boost for me to have someone say hello.
As for the mug, I picked it up while I was in Dallas. It comes from a company called Found. You can find it here:
go.shopmy.us/p-1016941
So fun. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing, Tayler. I appreciate your channel. It's wonderful being able to watch and not be bombarded with ads.😊
My pleasure Jan. Thank you for watching!
You are so delightful! Even though I've been making fingerless mitts forever, I bought your pattern because you're just so charming and fun to watch. Cheers! 😄
I love the "What I'm wearing" addition!!
I am so in love with that green color for your socks. Definitely need to get some
Do a video on sock yarn!! I completely agree with you on merino not being great for socks. I am on the hunt for a good sock yarn. I have been experimenting with BFL right now. I knit my dad a pair of socks in West Yorkshire Spinnery I believe, which is 35% BFL. I also looked at paton’s Kroy but i wasn’t sure I wanted something that heavy since I was going to hold it double.
What a lovely podcast, so inspiring
I hope I will be able to snag some of your Tunis yarn! I used to buy fleece from someone who raised Tunis sheep here in South Carolina. It is my favorite fleece to spin! Unfortunately the owners divorced and the flock was disbanded and sold. I have found it difficult to find this breed and was excited when you mentioned that working with it has been a special project of yours.
I just finished a pair of socks for myself with this exact yarn. Love the color.
Great podcast, your sweater is looking great! Loved that you shared the case for your tapestry needles, so classy and happy to see it brings you joy. Great gift for a knitter. Thanks !
My vanilla socks are made out of that. Love that color way and very cozy
Just got to visit your channel before heading out for the day! What a wonderful show! I shall carry and share your cheerfulness and joy of all fibery goodness! Love watching the progress on your sweater😉…🤗🇨🇦
I totally have that same camping pouch from BN. I use it as my notions pouch.
Hi Missus Earl! Wasn't sure you got my e-mail about my wool yarn buy. Hope you liked the photos.
OMG I’m so excited for the AZ Tunis. I have a feeling I know and love this shepardess. Tunis is SOOOOO AMAZING
I really enjoy your videos and can’t wait to see the finished Franken Sweater and the Sweater #18 with that gorgeous tweed yarn! Your dad is going to love his socks! I absolutely love the Felix Pullover you are wearing! I’ve only ever knit one pair of socks and the tutorial I followed was for plain socks and I added lace to the whole tops of the socks from a stitch book and they turned out so beautiful!
Hi Taylor thanks for another vlog. I made a second pair of your firepit mitts w 12” circular needles and the thumb w dpns. I love them!
Love Kate Atherley Custom Socks knit to fit your feet book. Almost all the patterns are both toe up and top down and a great recipe chart that gives all the stitch counts based on the guage and sock circumference. Def recommend as resource book
First time watching! I love knit Dallas so much! So excited to keep watching your videos in the future!
My knitting group had a weekend retreat recently. Your podcast presentation and information was a fun topic for discussion. We love your enthusiasm. I listen when I walk. The newbies all said they were looking forward to tuning in to your podcast. Thank you for being you!
Wow, this is amazing to me. Thank you for sharing that with me. Please say hello to your group and thank them for their support. You too, thank you! ❤️
Thanks Tayler, just ordered my needle holder! Now I won’t constantly be looking for where I left them. Safe and sound in their little felt bed!
Oh my goodness. I was just there two weeks ago while my visiting daughter in Dallas. The shop is a few blocks from her family's home. What a great shop - I loved everything about it!
I am new to your channel and am really enjoying your content and your energy. I am on the sleeves of the Querencia sweater from CONTRASTS, using yarn from my stash. It fits well and her pattern instructions are easy to follow. I have the Maja on my list as well! And a few others. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Kroy makes beautiful hats when run through the sentro too!!!
Very off topic, but your home looks lovely. I adore the colors.
I remember the first time I went into my local yarn store. So cozy - it's located in a 100+ year old neighborhood. Best thing was the annual sale going on! I thought I would be intimidated, but it was very inviting, + the staff was great.
I love your little needle book. I went down the rabbit hole on RUclips when I first searched out a DIY dpn holder. Then I found needle books. Very popular in Victorian Era.
Love your podcast…..very inspiring and enjoyable 😃
Well, thank you Jean. That means a lot. I'm glad you're enjoying them. ❤️
Sweater no.18 is #2 in my queue! Excited to see yours come along!
Knitting two at a time is the best!
Love your Felix pullover!!
Your Frankensweater looks great! Pieces of Me, is what I think of when you talk about it.
Btw, you’re so fun and thoughtful that it’s no surprise Hayley approached you at the store. I would have too! ❤️🧶 I’m in Chicago 😜.
I think you should call your sweater Frankie 😂
And that store!! OMG. knitting heaven!
Omg I'm so glad to see Jesabelle's beautiful work featured on more podcasts. She's local to me and all of her stuff is AMAZING! I own many of her bags and cases. They make my heart sing.
McKinney Knittery is my go to "Dallas" knitting store, but now I'm going to have to check out Knit Dallas. :)
Oh my gosh! That’s me…or rather the socks I knit for my brother! I must have missed the episode where you announced the winner, I will check it out now! Yes, I think that that is the same colourway I used, they are looking great!
ohhh! I am excited about this new sock pattern! Looks so nice. I would like to know how to do the heel flap on this type of 2aat. I am knitting with Patons Kroy right now, a pair of Valentines Day sock for my daughter. Love the podcast, always so happy and cheery, thank you for sharing your beautiful energy.
I’ve made the DRK everyday socks with kroy yarn and regular sock yarn, and it didn’t make a noticeable difference. That sock has ribbing throughout the entire length of the sock.
Thank you, Taylor, for sharing your adventure and WIP with us. I loved the needle case. ❤️
My pleasure! Thank you for watching!
I’ve got to get some projects finished so I can cast on some fire pit mitts! Hopefully soon!
My first pair of socks I knit were from Patons Kroy. I made them in 2012 and I still wear them. The yarn is popular in my sock drawer. Wears like iron.
Love the sweater you were wearing for the podcast. Is there a pattern link? Thanks.
There's something so relaxing about how you talk through things! Also, I've found Kelbourne Woolens to be pretty consistent from batch to batch so fingers crossed it all works out for you!
I love knitting patons kroy socks. This is mostly the yarn I use for my hubby's socks. He uses it everyday even mountain biking. My measurement for him is 52 sts in 3mm needles versus the usual 60 sts on 2.25mm for fingering weight.
That sweater looks sooooo lovely. What about calling it “Jumping Point”?
Looking forward to seeing it completed.
I also love a sport weight yarn for socks! iirc One Sock is written for Amble by The Fibre Co, which is more of a sport than a fingering weight.
I'm loving seeing how your sweater is coming along. I'd love one with the sleeves missing as I think it would be great over long sleeved t-shirts. The sleeves could be optional for me. Your theory re mens legs/socks... So funny but, I think you are right! 💕
My theory on falling socks: the greater the circumference between two points, the faster the slip. Also, on the ‘Frankenstein’ sweater, I don’t think you did a true tying of pieces together so much as drawing different techniques from different pattern like you might from a knit stitch library.
That needle case is very reminiscent of a historical housif (or "housewife"), a portable sewing kit made of cloth that was rolled or folded small to fit in a pocket or bag. I'm a historical sewing nerd.
Paton's Kroy sock yarn was once made in the UK and was a true 3 ply sock weight. unfortunately not the same now that it's made in Turkey.
Hi everyone! Thank you for stopping by to watch the podcast! I had a really good time with this one (I usually do 😉) but because I have SO much to share, it's a little longer than usual. Enjoy!
PS: I am wearing a modified Felix Pullover here.

Taylor, I so enjoyed your episode today & literally just sent a note the other day through your website about designing patterns! Given your sweater & now socks - it would be really interesting to hear your insights on pattern designs. It’s a “bucket list” item for me to do this - I was thinking a sock pattern, but with so many different basic sock patterns out there it’s hard to imagine a way my “base” would be unique even if my colorwork was original. I imagine that would be the same if you wanted to create some cool lace work or cable motifs - but the basic socks are still similar stitch counts & pull from existing techniques (I.e.: short row heel, afterthought heel, toe up, cuff down, etc). What would you recommend? How do you know if enough of the pattern is “yours” to publish it? Thanks for your advice! Can’t wait to see how your socks turn out. We are doing a sock KAL on your Ravelry page right now, too! 👍
I’m knitting Sweater #18 right now!! I’m using the knitting for olive merino and mohair listed in the pattern. I’m about 1/2 through the second sleeve. I can wait to see yours!
I have two jessebelleb bags and love them! Do you have a tutorial link for how you do the 3 needle bind off for your hem of the sweater?
Omg so I’m NOT crazy!! Every time I went to knit socks with Patons yarn the size/gauge was WAY bigger than my other “fingering” sock yarn. And I’m a tight knitter! This just blew my mind and I’m so glad this clicked for me.. THANK YOU
I also can’t decide if I love or hate Patons yarn for socks… maybe I just haven’t found the right sock formula for it yet (I’m an adventurous beginner so I bounce around to diff projects and am newish to socks)
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND YOU thank you!!
Thank you for purchasing my book Contrasts! 😍🥰 I am so happy seeing knitters enjoying it! Love your podcast!
Wow, Meiju! It’s my pleasure. And thank you so much for watching!
Your sock theory about hairy legs had me giggling so much 😂😂😂
Aaaaw, but I love the name Frankensweater SO much! :( Not only because I love the novel but I just find it so funny and it describes the sweater so well in just one word.
Your sweater is looking beautiful! I noticed the Blue Sky Fibers 21 color mitts and hat in your video from Knit Dallas. I love those! I could knit those over and over again. Easy, fun and they are so cute!
Thank you Heahter! And the Blue Sky Fiber kits for the mitts and hats were scrumptious! Such a cute set. ❤️
I agree Taylor, texture is the thing I'm drawn to this season. I'm trying to decide in a dk sweater with texture. I'm been looking for at least 4 months. I really enjoy all the information your episodes provide.😁
Thank you so much Tina! And maybe we need a 'textured sweaters for 2023' video....
Hey ❤️ I love watching your podcast! Please could you tell me what you was wearing? It looks super cute on you and the yarn is so nice 😍 I'm looking for a light project for spring x
I hope you write up a pattern for the sweater. I bought some fisherman wool in anticipation.
I work with Patons Kroy very often as it's my favorite hard wearing. For men's socks I use 3 balls, for boot length 4. Even with contrast c/h/t you may find you need another ball. Sending support, love, and kindness from Lexington MI USA
Love the Patons Kroy colorway!! I hope I can find it at Michael's or Hobby Lobby!!
I got mine at hobby lobby
Oh my goodness, I love your Dolly mug. I live in Scotland so I don't expect they are on sale here!
Thank you Karen! And I bet it would be a little tricky to find a Dolly mug where you are, but never underestimate the power of Amazon. ❤️
Why not call it the Princess as an homage to the musician Prince. It is now the "Sweater formally known..." and he was "the artist formally..."! Yes, I am showing my age. I did not think LITTLE RED CORVETTE would really work for that sweater! I am from Dallas, live in Houston now, and I had never heard of KNIT DALLAS! I have always gone north to Farmersville, TX to get yarn at FIBER CIRCLE. They have everything and anything you could ever want and the staff is so helpful! I will have to check out KNIT DALLAS. Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for your podcast!
I made myself some knee socks with shaping and with all that length they would not stay up until I wore them on top of some leggings and that was very comfortable. I have no problem with my other knitted socks staying up.
Hmmmm interesting....so it's not a leg hair thing like I posited in the video. 😂🥴
#Sendoff I just discovered your videos and I’m bingeing on all of them! I find your views on everything knitting so refreshing. I also love that you live and knit in my neck of the woods. I share your love for Fisherman Wool yarn from Joann’s.
Thank you so much for watching Aida! And it’s always fun to meet a fellow Fisherman’s Wool lover. There’s lots of us here!
Thank you so much for your podcast, I really enjoyed it. I’ve just discovered it and I look forward to more episodes. By the way, where did you get your cosy jacket that you are wearing in the photo showing your fire knit mitts?
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is also known as The Modern Prometheus and she wrote it in Geneva in 1816 and it was the result of a competition between Mary, her husband Percy Shelly and Lord Byron to see who could write the best horror story. Might give you a new direction for the name x
Very interesting! Hmmm....I like this.
Love the pom-pom/tassel on your project bag for the Firepit Mitts. Did it come with the bag or did you make it? So cute! You could call your sweater "Night at the Improv"
Possibly equally unpopular opinion--I love all my merino socks! 😁 Love, love, love! Disclaimer the first: I am not doing anything like hiking in my merino socks. Disclaimer the second: My stupid hypersensitive skin can't handle anything but the softest fibers--merino, polwarth, sometimes bfl. People keep telling me to try targhee but I'm hesitant to invest. (Some years ago I knit myself a lovely colorwork beret in Jaimeson's and I couldn't wear it for more than 15 minute without my forehead turning into a red itchy mess. I was so upset.)
I recently purchased Kroy sock yarn and noticed inconsistencies in weights between different colors. Muslin color was thicker than a self stripped one.
Franken-sweater is a style and not a name for a particular sweater....unless it actually has Frankenstein on it!
I think Fireside Pit mitts might be next on my list. My BFF and I are taking a colder weather trip later this year.
I love your podcast! They are very relaxing and informative. Would you mind sharing the name of the cropped sweater that you are wearing in this episode? It is lovely! Thanks so much!😊
Ahhhh, I love the Frankensweater name.😢 But I get it that it is your design now.
I used the same yarn to make socks for my adult daughter - yarn chicken barely won. They are beautiful though.
Kim from Fleece and Harmony is knitting the Maja.
Your Lion Brand Fishermen’s sweater is going to be so lovely! How many skeins will it take?
I saw Jonna from Knit Together with Kim and Jonna went to Knit Dallas too. Looks like a beautiful store, I hope they do really well!
Thank you Catherine! And I think this sweater will take about two and maybe a quarter balls of the FW. ❤️
for swtr #18, could you use a different color for cuffs, hem & collar to save that gorgeous blue for the body? ...ooooo, that's a very cool tapestry needle holder [says the knitter who has lost several ;-) ]. was that Dolly P on your mug at the beginning & end? :-)) Happy Lunar New Year!
Hi! Thank you for watching and for the great suggestions. I definitely need to consider my options. And as for the mug, that is indeed Dolly. ❤️
