I love Patons Kroy sock yarn - it's truly my favorite. Their self-striping yarn is unmatched, but you are 100% right that it's at least sport weight. I love it because I'm such a tight knitter that I can use slightly bigger needles and it goes faster, PLUS like you said socks made from it are so resilient.

One of my first pair of socks was done in Paton's Kroy--on US#1.5 Hiya Hiya Sharps DPNs. I still have the scars. LOL I love the yarn, though. It made lovely, thick socks that--though they are too big because of the yarn weight and using a larger needle--I tend to wear as house socks, often over another pair. Thanks for your update. I always enjoy the visit. 🥰

Tayler - Re: your comments on wanting textured sweaters. The only adult size sweater I've made (hoping for #2 this year) was the Little Waves by Gudrun Johnston and I love the finished project, as does my husband for whom I knit it. Now, perhaps an all-over cable-y cardigan in a rustic charcoal gray wool was not the best 1st sweater project, but that will be a potential future episode for my podcast.

I knit my dad a pair of socks in West Yorkshire Spinnery I believe, which is 35% BFL. I also looked at paton’s Kroy but i wasn’t sure I wanted something that heavy since I was going to hold it double.

My theory on falling socks: the greater the circumference between two points, the faster the slip. Also, on the ‘Frankenstein’ sweater, I don’t think you did a true tying of pieces together so much as drawing different techniques from different pattern like you might from a knit stitch library.

Taylor, I so enjoyed your episode today & literally just sent a note the other day through your website about designing patterns! Given your sweater & now socks - it would be really interesting to hear your insights on pattern designs. It’s a “bucket list” item for me to do this - I was thinking a sock pattern, but with so many different basic sock patterns out there it’s hard to imagine a way my “base” would be unique even if my colorwork was original. I imagine that would be the same if you wanted to create some cool lace work or cable motifs - but the basic socks are still similar stitch counts & pull from existing techniques (I.e.: short row heel, afterthought heel, toe up, cuff down, etc). What would you recommend? How do you know if enough of the pattern is “yours” to publish it? Thanks for your advice! Can’t wait to see how your socks turn out. We are doing a sock KAL on your Ravelry page right now, too! 👍

Why not call it the Princess as an homage to the musician Prince. It is now the "Sweater formally known..." and he was "the artist formally..."! Yes, I am showing my age. I did not think LITTLE RED CORVETTE would really work for that sweater! I am from Dallas, live in Houston now, and I had never heard of KNIT DALLAS! I have always gone north to Farmersville, TX to get yarn at FIBER CIRCLE. They have everything and anything you could ever want and the staff is so helpful! I will have to check out KNIT DALLAS. Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for your podcast!

I made myself some knee socks with shaping and with all that length they would not stay up until I wore them on top of some leggings and that was very comfortable. I have no problem with my other knitted socks staying up.

#Sendoff I just discovered your videos and I’m bingeing on all of them! I find your views on everything knitting so refreshing. I also love that you live and knit in my neck of the woods. I share your love for Fisherman Wool yarn from Joann’s.

Thank you so much for your podcast, I really enjoyed it. I’ve just discovered it and I look forward to more episodes. By the way, where did you get your cosy jacket that you are wearing in the photo showing your fire knit mitts?

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is also known as The Modern Prometheus and she wrote it in Geneva in 1816 and it was the result of a competition between Mary, her husband Percy Shelly and Lord Byron to see who could write the best horror story. Might give you a new direction for the name x

Love the pom-pom/tassel on your project bag for the Firepit Mitts. Did it come with the bag or did you make it? So cute! You could call your sweater "Night at the Improv"

Possibly equally unpopular opinion--I love all my merino socks! 😁 Love, love, love! Disclaimer the first: I am not doing anything like hiking in my merino socks. Disclaimer the second: My stupid hypersensitive skin can't handle anything but the softest fibers--merino, polwarth, sometimes bfl. People keep telling me to try targhee but I'm hesitant to invest. (Some years ago I knit myself a lovely colorwork beret in Jaimeson's and I couldn't wear it for more than 15 minute without my forehead turning into a red itchy mess. I was so upset.)

I recently purchased Kroy sock yarn and noticed inconsistencies in weights between different colors. Muslin color was thicker than a self stripped one.

Franken-sweater is a style and not a name for a particular sweater....unless it actually has Frankenstein on it!
I think Fireside Pit mitts might be next on my list. My BFF and I are taking a colder weather trip later this year.

I used the same yarn to make socks for my adult daughter - yarn chicken barely won. They are beautiful though.

Your Lion Brand Fishermen’s sweater is going to be so lovely! How many skeins will it take?
I saw Jonna from Knit Together with Kim and Jonna went to Knit Dallas too. Looks like a beautiful store, I hope they do really well!

for swtr #18, could you use a different color for cuffs, hem & collar to save that gorgeous blue for the body? ...ooooo, that's a very cool tapestry needle holder [says the knitter who has lost several ;-) ]. was that Dolly P on your mug at the beginning & end? :-)) Happy Lunar New Year!
