    Between companies putting out better than ever, affordable guitars, and the wealth of information on the internet for those that wish to learn guitar, free or for a nominal fee, how can anyone seriously say that guitar is dead? It seems like a golden age for guitar and bass.

    • @lueymeteora1410
      @lueymeteora1410 3 года назад +2

      We are blissfully headed for such a monumental crash, though...and noone seems to see it!
      The current boom is thx to our generation finally growing up and having some real spending power. A thousand and One companies are all clamouring for a piece of the action! And as a result, we get Companies offering more and more for less and less.
      But what of the next Gen? We grew up seeing Guitar Gods like Slash, EVH, SRV....Randy Rhoads, Kirk Hammett, John Petrucci....Jimmi, Gary Moore, John Frusciante...
      🙆‍♂️ This is an impossible list! So many Guitar Gods! Take your pick...
      In 20 years, when the next Generation comes to fruition, and have clout of their own, in terms of Buying power....what will they think of when they think if the electric guitar...?
      Overweight, balding, middle aged men spending hours on the computer everyday, just scrolling through pictures of guitars!
      The next Gen will associate the electric guitar with the lamest of the lame! Noone will buy one!
      There'll be noone to carry the torch...and the flame will die out!
      But hey! So long as we're enjoying"the Golden age of Guitar", and we can get baked maple necks and Floyd Roses on our Squiers! Right?
      .....Right??

      Luey Neeman I see what you’re trying to get at but I’m going to have to disagree entirely.
      Whether you want to accept it or not, there are already people that think of all of those legends you mentioned in your comment as “lame” and there always will be.
      Similarly, as long as people play guitar, there will always be guitar legends that people look up to and that make the future generations want to learn guitar to be like them.
      Additionally, the only difference between the “overweight, balding, middle-aged men” of today and the people of your days buying guitars is that we have access to the internet. I’m sure if you knew how to navigate through the internet you would know that there are thousands of young guitarists that are influencing the masses. These people will always seem cool to the new generation and generations after.

      Lol what?
      "Squier" is literally nothing more than a sticker Fender puts on their East Asian-produced budget range. There is no Squier company, there are no Squier employees. Designed, marketed, and distributed by Fender.

    • @joebryant8500
      @joebryant8500 4 года назад

      @Jordan What is with your life that you think three comments posted in a thread in which dozens are making the same mistake is "every" and took up only slightly more time than your comment took to post?

    • @joebryant8500
      @joebryant8500 4 года назад

      @Jordan What is your life that you find the time to whine about this? I'm sure the irony is lost on you ...
      Happy to give you another lesson. I like helping people to learn.
      Squier doesn't exist, it is not a tangible entity and hasn't been since Fender bought the company in 1965, shut its string production facilities a decade later, and a few years after that used the trademark for a new budget guitar range which they have made by independent sub-contractors in the Far East. There is no company, there are no staff. There is no-one called "Squier" to design or make anything or to do anything else. It's a Fender trademark: a line on a document filed with the USPTO, a sticker on a headstock, and a category on the Fender website. And that's it.
      Products carrying the Squier logo are literally designed, marketed, distributed and sold by the same people who do the same for all other Fender products.
      So who are "they", and how are "they" taking "their own direction"? Answer: Fender. Not sure how Fender "take their own direction" away from Fender...
      Facts don't care about your feelings of hurt at being corrected on the internet.
      Come back if you need more help. I'm here for you, no judgement.

    • @joebryant8500
      @joebryant8500 4 года назад

      @Jordan
      "Squier" is literally the same as "Stratocaster", or "Jaguar", or "Princeton". It's the name of a Fender product, not an entity.
      From Fender's T&Cs:
      BANDMASTER, BASSMAN, BULLET, CHAMP, DELUXE REVERB, DURA-TONE, ESQUIRE, Stylized F (in Thick & Thin Script), FENDER (standard and in Stylized Thick & Thin Script), FRONTMAN, the two dimensional guitar headstock profiles commonly found on FENDER TELECASTER, STRATOCASTER, PRECISION BASS and JAZZ BASS electric guitars, J BASS, JAG-STANG, JAGUAR, JAZZ BASS, JAZZMASTER, MUSTANG, NOCASTER, P BASS, PASSPORT, PRECISION BASS, PRINCETON, RELIC, ROAD WORN, SFX, SHOWMAN, SHOWMASTER, *_SQUIER,_* STARCASTER, STRAT, STRATOCASTER, SUNN, SUPER BULLETS, SUPER REVERB, TELE, TELECASTER, THE SPIRIT OF ROCK-N-ROLL, TONE MASTER, TWIN REVERB, VIBRO CHAMP, VIBRO-KING, and VIBROLUX are the trademarks of Fender that may appear in this Fender Property and that are registered in one or several categories of goods with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

      @@joebryant8500 I know that, and I get what you mean. My point is that it's nice to see models offering something different than the 'standard' Fender models for a budget price. The 'Paranormal' models for example. Models that were taken off production, or just something a little different!

    Nothing wrong with poplar. It is a solid, easy to work wood and great for painted bodies because it's big weakness is that the grain is boring and occasionally has green-brown mineral streaks. Even as a tonewood, it has been used for a long time to good effect on acoustic instruments.

  • @terryenglish7132

    I love roasted necks. Much better feel on your palm vs finishes. For fingerboards it sounds similar to Ebony for the high end, but mids and lows more like normal Maple, which isn't necessarily good. Ebony's bass response balances that out, Maples low mids emphasis not so much. But turning up the bass a little and cutting the frog fur highs gets it normalized. Stainless Steel increases the effect. I have roasted one piece fingerboard/necks w both Stainless and normal frets. So far I m staying w Stainless just for it not wearing out. Normal frets sound a little better, but for me its not enough for the inconvenience of refretting.

    As far as the Squiers go, I'm interested in that white Tele and black Strat. And I think I'm going to get one of those for sure, but I want to hear reviews first....but that white Tele is calling to me.

    I love my Tele cont. Tone on or off it's crazy. Think I should put it in series though...
    The binding is really badly done but only if you look closely. The string tree I replaced straight away as it cut me and the jack plate needs replacing as it absolute *chug* and isn't flush against the body.
    Super happy with it. Clean sounds incredible and opted for a katana mini which is nuts.

    Sounds like you just set yourself a challenge to mod a contemporary strat! Would make a great review

    Haven't owned a Squier in over a decade,but definitely going to get one of those strats with the 3 single coils and mod it and put hot rails in the bridge and a sustaniac single coil in the neck.

    I pre ordered the jag. Coil splitting series/parallel switching. Hopefully those pups are useable but I def have high hopes for that neck!
