Hunter and Hunter's editor are gonna collapse after doing Fender's reveals. Then realize they have to do Gibson, PRS, and literally every other guitar company.
When I was growing up, one of our Mom&Pop shops actually had a sassafras soda, not root beer, sassafras. I could not get enough of it. The amount of money I spent on that stuff....
That shell pink Charvel was so epic, maybe top 3 I’ve seen on your channel, so more Charvel would be a great thing. Good luck trying to keep up with all the new stuff coming, I have a feeling it’s gonna be a crazy release schedule this season.
Your doing a great job ! I always watch whatever you cover because your enthusiasm is infectious . I seen the guys over at Andertons do a review of Sire guitars , Larry Carlton's brand . Not exactly a Metal type player but he's offering up a single cut and strat type models at an affordable price . Thanks for keeping me inspired and informed .
Gigging bassist / bedroom guitarist chiming in here. I've never owned a Charvel but I've been digging their guitars for awhile. So I'm stoked to see the new basses this year! I really don't NEED another bass, but I'm slowly talking myself into one of these. Much as I love the reverse P / J pickup config on the 4 strings, I'm not in love with either of those 2 colors (lime green / mystic blue). That 5 in lambo green with gold hardware and cream Dimarzios however is drool worthy though! When I first saw them, I assumed they had the matte / satin finish (like that gorgeous shell pink guitar!), but I saw a vid of the lambo green and it's gloss. Not a deal breaker, but I think it would have been a better compliment to the vibe. Thanks for not leaving the bass players out!
Truly a sad 😭 moment in time! Wayne Charvel your a genius also one of my heros. I have a 1980's model 5a and she's awesome! But I know everyone retires at some point in life. God bless you
I got the new San Dimas HSS in Blizzard Pearl this past summer and it's simply amazing. Oddly the name of it's color seems to be up in the air... Some literature says "Blizzard Pearl" and other literature says "Platinum Pearl". I ordered it online through Chicago Music Exchange and the invoice says "Blizzard Pearl". Yet Charvel's website says Platinum Pearl. In my 35 years of playing, this is the first Charvel I've ever played and my only regret is not having gotten one earlier in life.
Hey Hunter! Yeah, 0:39, the main difference is Ibanez uses codes that don't mean anything to the end user where charvel uses abbreviations to make things easier for salespeople and customers to decipher. MJ (Made in Japan) DK24 (Dinky Body 24 Fret series - as the rest of the DK24 line) HSH (Hum-Single-Hum p/u config) 2PT (2 point Gotoh Trem) E (Exquisite - premium wood selection). The CM in the next model just stands for Caramelized Maple, again, like the previous DK24 models. So you can actually tell what guitar model it is. Ibanez uses codes that the factory use to identify components internally. Makes me nuts. 😖
My first "proper" guitar was a Charvel back in the late 80's early 90's. Loved that guitar but eventually sold it when I stopped playing. Wish they would start making some new models with the pointy headstock again.
i have an 87 Charvel Model 4 (or 6...) Sharkfin inlays. Sparkle Blue. Its one of a kind. DEF made in Japan. Golden age charvel. Got it for $300 at a local shop
Not sure if this is why they call it streaky ebony but I think everybody started using the African Ebony that is streaky and not solid black after Mr.Taylor went to see where they get their wood and was horrified how many ebony trees were cut down and just left because they weren't solid black. He ask why they dont use all and the guy said you guys wont buy it(all guitar companys not just Taylor)He said from now on they are using all ebony and if its to streaky for you buy another guitar.Mr Taylor is awesome.Glad more followed his lead.
Charvel is the only brand that puts out 24 frets HSH guitar with a floating trem (aside from those Fusion models from Harley Benton). Not sure why it's not more popular, it's versatile as hell, particularly with their switching scheme where the middle position is both humbuckers instead of the middle alone. I wish they would add a switch like the HH model for even more versatility.
I believe Dinky is a Jackson thing, and the standout part is the 7/8 sized body. Charvel has San Dimas and So Cal (pickguard) but afaik they are strat bodies really. I still want a 24 fret So Cal, but nope, not my year :)
I'm on a quest to have a row of multiple Charvels in my guitar boat. I have the pro mod so cal style 2 24 HH 2PT Ash so far. Next up is an older year model San Dimas HH FR either in Slime Green or Black. Those are calling my name!
I watch you because I enjoy your style, your music and your reviews... I mean, I write on bass and mostly play bass, but I need guitar to track stuff, so there ya go.
For those of you who don’t know “HSH” = Humbucker Single Coil Humbucker, “HH” Humbucker Humbucker, “HSS” Humbucker Single Coil Single Coil...etc. I find names like this helpful when I’m googling up things. And all one tone wood color is sick cause nature breh
Exactly, I don't get why people complain about this naming convention. It actually makes more sense, one look at the name and you know roughly what you are getting instead of some brand followed by a Greek god name.
@@yeesenchai yeah man it’s not hard to learn. I personally don’t mind when things are named simple too but what I don’t like is this whole Les Paul Studio/Custom/Standard/Signature (when it’s already a signature)/blah blah blah THEY ARE LITERALLY ALL THE FUCKIN SAME. Not hating on them I want one one day it’s just not specific unless you’re Gibson enthusiast (although as a classical position musician they blow with the shape) sorry for the rant.
I just put a pre-order down for the Vivaldi 6 string. That blue and gold is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥; and I’ve had the most intense love/hate relation ship with the floating bridge on my Ibanez, I’m surprised my neighbors didn’t report me for domestic violence against it.
I would love to see you do a run down of the Justin Aufdenkamp Signature SD-24. That Charvel totally fell under everyone’s radar. Problem is that it’s rather hard to find now. I believe they are three years old now.
I'd love to see a review on the Duplantier models and see what you think. I just recently picked up the satin white model and the little I've been able to play it (carpal tunnel sucks btw) it's really, REALLY nice. And the neck might be the best I've seen on a model that costs just $599.
My friend, say what you will about that natural finish. I can’t take my eyes off that instrument. It’s like a more rocked up version of Guthrie’s model. My next purchase no doubt.
I'm kind of pissed I really wanted an angel Vivaldi sig in a 6 string and they only did the one color. That sucks. I was really hoping for a 6 string nova in black or the sage they could of added the blue but damn.
Hey hunter, have you seen the new Squier range coming out? That pink strat oooooof it hella fine. Love the videos man, one of my favourite guitar youtubers.
I think leaving out the stainless steel frets one the Japanese model is a massive misstep, especially for that price. It’s perfect otherwise! Agreed, sassafras is dope 👍🏼
Until you told me that was Satchel from Steel Panther I thought it was Ben Stiller from Zoolander. Good to know. Sassafras soda is slightly better than root beer. I like both. I'm not sure why anyone is concerned with high doses of Sassafras when there's high fructose corn syrup in everything, probably including the air we breathe. Not sure about a metal wallet. I'm partial to Mighty Wallets myself. Some of the Ridges do look cool though.
Say, friend, you got any more of that good sarsaparilla? Also, I love love love Shell Pink. Throw it on a HSS Strat with a maple board and white pearloid pickguard. *chef's kiss*
Tbh I'm just excited that we're getting more HSH dk24 models. I picked up a black dk24 last year, threw some chrome fishmans and dome knobs on it, but I might have to get w new one now that we have HSH options besides popsicle orange and army drab green. Sidenote: how fuckin dare you besmirch root beer like that. A nice cold glass of root beer? Root beer floats? That's range
That pink charvel in the intro is the perfect charvel for me , hope I can get a used one on eBay for cheap. These new models are ok but they are not hitting the mark for me.

I'm still waiting on a Charvel that ticks my boxes, these are meh imo. There has been a few that were perfect, but then they had gold hardware... Hey, wait one second... I like old furniture looking guitars!
I've seen some sick-looking Les Paul-inspired guitars made out of whisky barrels, and they are DOPE. Some company out of Michigan.
got myself a san dimas HH last year, just because i wanted something with a floyd. now it's my favourite guitar, very underrated

Charvel ‘s look good. Jackson phoned it in . So far Squire hit a home run . ESP looks really good too.
