  • Comparing Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra vs Google’s Pixel 7 Pro to see which Android smartphone is best for camera tech, gaming, battery life & beyond! I’ve used both the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro as my full-time phone (check my review videos here on Tech Spurt) and here’s my real life verdict.
For the camera tests, here’s some side-by-side photos shot on both flagship phones. The Samsung S23 Ultra pumps out brighter photos with its 200MP HP2 sensor, while the Pixel 7 Pro’s 50MP camera tends to produce more natural pics. However, they’re both great for everyday photography and impress at night.
Gamers should check out the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 means beefier performance for Genshin Impact etc vs Google's smartphone. The Pixel 7 Pro is still fine for gaming, just not as dependable. Battery life is also superior on the S23 Ultra, although it's quite a bit more expensive.
So are you more tempted by the Galaxy or the Pixel? Which is the best phone in 2023? Well, I prefer the tidier Pixel 7 Pro setup with some excellent unique features, plus those more natural camera results. However, the Samsung S23 Ultra's package of performance, longevity and S Pen action will be far too tempting for others.

I have the pixel 7 pro right now, and as somebody who has RUclips in the background while I'm playing games the battery doesn't last long at all. This phone has amazing features, and I truly love it. However, it isn't built to multitask. If you are doing one thing at a time it works great. It gets really warm very quickly.

I also had the s22u and at first glance it seemed there wasn't much of a difference between last year's model and this year's but i must say there are some positive changes under the hood. So whatever os you use, even one UI 9, it will still run like crap because the hardware was crap on the s22 and on the s23 is excellent, an excellent chipset after so many years of crappy chipsets. I use my phone as a music source, streaming lossless audio in my hifi aftermarket car audio system, at home with an audiophile audio setup and with my higher quality, over ear headphones. The S23 phones are superior to the Pixels because the S23 series support Dolby Atmos processing while the Pixels DO NOT. Beyond the Dolby processing the S23 phones also feature UHQ Audio Upscaling used with headphones. These features makes a big difference in the streaming audio quality. I wish that more reviewers would be knowledgeable enough to include this aspect in their reviews. We use our phones for more than just the screen and camera quality. You don't have to be an audiophile wanna be like me to have a better audio experience with any of the S23s. Still, audio streaming is a big deal for me and so in that way, my S23+ (or S23 Ultra if you have it) is superior to the Pixel 7 pro.

Samsung should've taken over the plus territory instead of talking away the true s ultra, I love the boxy design and can't live without the spen but alot just want the top of the line s and not the note. The whole purpose of the plus to be an s23 in a bigger shell to save u cost like wants $200 $3-$5 extra per month and the gains are significant form the plus to the ultra. The s21+ s22+ and now s23+ not a bad phone but the price isn't acceptable the pixel for $899 QHD+ display, better camera and even one plus 11 for $699 QHD+ res and the s23+ $999, FHD+ display, not flagship camera and not just a slighlty bigger entry level flagship

The Pixel's also good enough for what I do with it for me to want to switch (basic social media/web browsing, not much gaming), so I'll stick with my Pixel.
Also helps that the Pixel actually has features that I want to use. I don't care for DeX since I have my laptop around me whenever I need it, and I tried an S-Pen before and it doesn't really do anything for me that makes me REALLY want a S23. Why tho? If someone plug their phone to the charger they want it to charge... While chip takes the electricity from the wall, battery should be filling up simultaneously. If it is a option in settings thats okay, if it is a thing in stock settings or it can not be changeable, it is a really bad decision.

@@jstrig While battery bypass is activated, it won't charge the battery. This is for sure and was already tested by the RUclips channel NL Tech. It is a pretty important feature. For instance, if you connected your phone to a monitor for working on DeX you don't want it to be charged all day long because even with the activated battery protection it would harm the battery.
The only question is: does it work only while game launcher runs (it is currently a setting of Geme booster), or can it be used also independently (also for DeX).

Had Galaxy phones dating back to the Epic 4g. Retired my S8 for a P2 XL, haven't looked back at a Galaxy since.. Especially the price. I am not paying over $1600 for a phone. I don't game, I just take pictures and daily use, works just fine. I have a P7 Pro now. Can't go wrong with stock android, photo processing, and software experience has always been fluid for me. Though, I will say coming from a P4 XL, the facial recognition on the 4 is superior to the 7 series. Unfortunately, Google got cheap and just went with a minimum class 3 sensor for facial recognition on the 7 series. So, the phone doesn't always unlock, especially in low lit areas, and you can't unlock if you're wearing sunglasses, but you could easily do this on the 4. Probably my only gripe so far. To each their own. Samsung has always had the big specs and hardware on their phones, but their software is something questionable and a different story altogether, imo.. :X

Have a Pixel 7 Pro, and absolutely love it so far! I am not a gamer, so performance is not as much of a concern for me. The fluidity of the phone in general, Google's 'stock' take on Android (+ the Pixel features) and the camera are all great! Considering that the S22 Ultra is priced a whopping 50% higher than the Pixel 7 Pro, I think the Pixel offers a much better bang for your buck. Having said that, we are still talking about two of the best Android flagships, so they are both great phones in their own way.

    • @wtf17727
      @wtf17727 Год назад +1

@@jonpeach5851 For me it doesn't get hot while browsing, taking photos, watching youtube etc.
If I use "fast charging" (which is still very slow) it gets pretty warm, if I use wireless charging, it gets so hot that it sometimes stops charging (I noticed it does that when the battery reaches around 40° celsius).
Day to day experience is great, battery life is better than a lot of reviews claim, I use a chargie, where I limit charge to 85% and still end the day with 20-30%.
The Pixel 7 Pro has a pretty old screen, which is a lot less efficient than the S23 Ultra and the chip is also less efficient, I guess screen quality and brightness won't bother you on the Pixel but it will use more battery.
Would I game on the Pixel? No. But tests of the S23 Ultra already show that it is also a pretty bad phone for gaming because Samsung didn't really bother with cooling (it has terrible performance consistency).
For me the Pixel 7 Pro is a great device, but I see some downsides:
      - Slow and hot charging (I charge overnight and do it with a 10W charger)
      - Some hardware concerns, allthough it feels like a well-built phone, I also read about the breaking cameras and volume buttons popping out
      - Bad for gaming and a Snapdragon 865 phone will probably be better or on par with the Pixel
      - Battery on pretty much any 8 Gen 2 phone will be better, TSMC is just so far ahead of Samsung (allthough I think the battery is more than fine)
      - Old generation display looks really good but is just more power-hungry than the newer displays
      - Pixel Launcher sucks in my opinion, but I quickly switched to Nova Launcher
