I wonder............... Why did skillet add to the album instead of making a new one?
+steam train ty It takes a while to write and record an album. Skillet usually tours nonstop for about 3 years straight after making an album, so they don't have the time to make a new one only a year later. From what I understand though, the new songs that are on the deluxe version of Unleashed were originally intended to be on the standard edition, but they had to cut them out because they were only allowed 12 songs. Why they didn't (or weren't allowed to) release the deluxe edition last year is beyond me though, as usually the deluxe edition of an album releases the same day as the standard edition

Probably the same reason they did it with Live Free or Let Me Die in the Comatose Deluxe album. Btw Kyle, definitely look that song up and do a cover. I'm interested to see what you would do.

What I do for drop D or drop C. Palm muting. And every guitar I ever played I was able to palm mute.
+steam train ty I guarantee that literally every functioning guitar that has ever existed is able to be palm muted lol
All it takes is a bridge and your hand. Has nothing to do with the guitar itself
Kyle Scott which do you prefer muting on? The Gibson style hard tail (kinda like how this guitar looks) a floyd, or on the fender style trem bridge?

My Yamaha's bridge (which I suppose would be closest to a Strat's) has these posts sticking out of each saddle (used to adjust the action) that some may find uncomfortable, but I don't really notice them anymore
Kyle Scott I just got a floyed (music man sterling sub ax8) and i love it. It feels similar to the old fender so it is good
I gotta say that I didn't dig this song too much at first, but its growing on me... Y'know? Anyways, I'm actually liking the bonus tracks a lot more than that pop-rock stuff on the standard album. I mean these songs are certainly no Collide, Comatose or Awake, but I can enjoy these. At least there is some actual guitar riffs rather than just Quarter-strums and hitting sixteenth notes on the same note...
I also have to say that I feel Jen's vocals could be a bit less used... It feels like they are just trying to make up for John's bad vocal range now.
Upon first listen I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I definitely liked it, especially the verse and the pre-chorus, but I thought that the chorus sounded too similar to I Want To Live. I also didn't care for the solo (still don't, actually) but it's definitely my favorite of the bonus songs. As far as how they compare to the standard edition, the standard release has better songs imo. I think Out of Hell is one of Skillet's best songs to date and I still enjoy Back From The Dead, I Want To Live and The Resistance. I like Saviors of the World musically, but not lyrically, and I also enjoy Watching for Comets as it really reminds me of older Skillet songs, pre-Collide.
But yeah, Collide and Comatose are still my favorite Skillet albums (I always go back and forth over which one is my favorite lol) and I still love Awake, but Should've When You Could've is one of the dumbest songs I have ever heard and as long as that song exists I can not say that Awake is anywhere near the best Skillet album lol
That's actually Lacey Sturm (From Flyleaf) singing, which is why she got an entire verse to herself (Because why would you have a guest vocalist and only make them sing in the background?)
Kyle Scott Oh yeah ik that's Lacey Sturm in the verse... I'm talking Jen as the background vocals. I have to say I don't really like the solo either... I haven't really liked any of his solos except the one from freakshow.
Love the Freakshow solo. I think all of his solos on Rise are pretty great tbh. And I don't really dislike any of the ones on Unleashed
Have you heard of Whitecross? I think you would enjoy there stuff.

Hoping to be good enough to do a skillet cover one day but I'm very beginner I got an Ibanez guitar and a good amp that had distortion effects but not many need a pedal what pedal would you recommend?

You probably don't need to worry about getting any pedals at the moment, but if you must get one, I'd say get a Wah pedal. The Dunlop Crybaby Wah is probably the most popular one (It's also the one I use)

Thanks! I'm *mostly* self-taught. I learned some of the basics from a book, and later on learned some more advanced stuff from various RUclips videos, but I've never had a formal lesson

Thanks! I've been learning songs by ear for about 8 years now, so I can typically learn them pretty fast. It took me about 25-30 minutes to learn this one

Finally able to play this. Question. How do you figure out the tabs and the tuning for songs? I've been wondering
Kinda hard to explain. After you've been playing for a while you can kinda just recognize certain things just by listening. I by no means have perfect pitch, so there's a bit of trial and error, but most songs use the same chord progressions that are pretty easily recognizable.
Figuring out the tuning isn't too hard, just gotta listen for the lowest note in the song, then play the lowest note on the guitar and compare it to see if it's higher or lower than what you're tuned too.
I've been thinking about doing some live streams of me learning songs so everyone can see my methods, but I'm still figuring out the best way to approach that

What guitar did seth use in the resistance? The reason why I ask Is because there's a awesome trick with the bridge. So it's when you put your side of your hand on the bridge and strum it.
Don't know what he used exactly but I know he uses PRS guitars. Putting your hand on the bridge and strumming? You mean palm muting?

wait no. Not palm muting. Basically what happens when you put your hand on the bridge not only does it make a cool sound but it minimizes the vibration of strings. I'll show you soon in one of my videos. I'll tell you when it's uploaded.

I’m not a guitarist, but I am a musician and I know learning new things is frustrating lol. Anyways, You are really good at what you do! Writting tabs is pretty tedious work that takes a lot of time. If anything, I'll just make a lesson for it
