I knew Jerry back when he was an extremely talented clarinet player. We both had Dr. Lee conducting us in the Wind Ensemble. Dr. Lee's conducting was pure poetry and Jerry reminds me so much of Dr. Lee. I've watched Jerry's career with amazement. He is a fine musician and incredibly inspiring conductor. I am so proud of what he has accomplished and I'm not the least bit surprised.
Jerry Junkin is the best conductor I've ever seen in person, and probably ever. He conducted Nessun Dorma and the Maslanka #2, and I was mesmerized... Every motion was justified and nothing was just for show... wow.
The differences between the two of us are glaring when we start conducting side by side at 6:40 in the video. I hope it's clear how difficult it is to manage your movement the way he does.
Got to perform the finale of Maslanka 2 with him! He conducted the ‘99 All-NW honor band my senior year of HS. One of my favorite musical experiences. He has so much energy!
@@jessewilliams7192 I was supposed to run a h.s. level select band sectional (clarinets) of the Maslanka #2, and the sheer size of the score scared me half to death. That music is beyond my fingers and brain...
Unfortunately I only have my own recordings from this particular event. I could post some of the much shorter videos from conducting class if you would be interested in that?
SOOOOOO...... in other simple words .....and a lot LESS WORDS ........LET THE BODY BE EASILY SEEN (INTERPRETTED BY THE PLAYERS) .....AS BEING MORE EXPRESSIVE IN THE MOVEMENTS. Connect with the people .....the musicians.

For only one semester of conducting, you have a great foundation! Keep it up!

Poor thing! Maybe someday. So self conscious. A ballet class would help make him aware of himself and how to express. Someday, someday.
