You are the first RUclipsr, whose repair processes I can clearly follow, understand and learn from them. Clear voice, clear description, surprisingly well angled camera on whatever You do. Thank You! I watched the Diesel bushing for shifter video and now this -> and great. Thanks (My shifter got crazy, I can’t even get to 1 and 3 positions and other ones kind of cramp, not being overly technical, I clearly now see what I should check)
Your video is the best on the subject. The others skip steps. They tell you what to do but they don't show you how to do it. You do show how to do it and don't gloss over the degree of difficulty. Thank you ever so much for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Bro, I did the 02J swap into my MKIII many years ago, and just started having this issue along with an insanely sticky shift (shit got into the ball part). I could kiss you in your face for this, dude. At the very least I owe you a beer.
Hello! As a owner of 1998 mk4 it was real pleasure for me watching your videos for shifter bushings. Your videos are nicely edited and shot and well narrated too. I am experiencing same grind noise when shifting to 1st gear and I think that the problem is inside the transmission, so one day I will open it. I think you should take this measure too.
Awesome video. Your last video helped me replace bushings on my MK4 tdi. My issue ended up being my shifter cables being out of adjustment but it’s nice having new bushings!
@@DuelistWave My bushings weren’t great but still shifted, my cable adjustment went all wonky after the car sat for a winter. Not sure how or why but it’s all worked out now!
This is one of the best automotive maintenance channels I've seen. Love your attention to detail. My mk4 has trouble shifting after long drives on the highway (3rd gear is especially tough to shift into). Its also tough to shift in winter until it warms up. Any idea what causes that?
Hey Maq, I was wondering which cable end bushings did you like best? The ones from DieselGeek or UroTuning? I enjoy all of your videos, they are extremely helpful. I have a 2004 Jetta MK4 TDi so a lot of the videos I can use, especially the tranny shifter videos. Thanks for your help.

The bit hole drilled in the side of the shifter tower is a clue that the previous owner has been in there. Good video.
Love your videos.
Was having serious shifting issues with my 2002 Golf MKIV TDI and this fixed it 😎😎👍👍.

It's a toss up. I like both. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy whichever was cheaper.
Gear teeth you checked
