Thank you for sharing how to prevent root rot in crested to spread out .. So nice to watched your video ,, it’s like you are a Surgeon doing surgery to them that helps them to get better and thrive again,, I need to learn a lot about them before starting to collect and take care of them.. thank you friend, thumbs up always 💕
Salamat Mama Bear for this video. I was hoping you could add a followup video on what it now looks like. I have a favorite crested opuntia subulata f. cristata that started rotting a couple of years ago and have asked succ groups what to do. No one has been able to answer me and l'd hate to lose this one. I will take my chances and see if l can save parts of it. Salamat uli ng marami!
Hello. Thank you for watching. I will try to get a follow up video for this plant. I also have other videos about crested propagation and restarting from cuttings. Paki check mo nalang channel ko. Sorry to hear about your crested Eve’s Needle. Baka magspread ang rot baka kailanagan mo nang tanggalin ung rotted part. Let me know if I can help.
Thanks for says about how long to let callous over. I’m trying to save my daughter’s plant. She took it to her boyfriend’s house and it was really hot & it started dying. I think it got root rot. She was watering it more because it was so hot. It’s winter here. And super cold.
Hello, did this plant end up rooting? I have a mermaid tail succulent that was shipped to me and when it showed up it looked very good. But now after I’ve had it a few days pieces of it are turning brown and kind of translucent and rotting. I was going to cut off the rotted pieces before I pot it. They are on the top of the plant, not the area that I will be placing on the soil. Do you think I still need to wait 10 days to let the cut area callous before I plant it? TIA!
Hello. Yes, this plant survived. In regards to yoir plant, trnslucent means overwatered. Go ahead and remove the rotted piece. Yes please let the end callous over. The thicker the stem/trunk, the longer you wait to callous. Lay the cutting on it’s side , instead of upright while drying the end so it the whole cutting doesn’t dry out.
Thank you so much! That is what I did with the one I had. I cut off the rotting parts and ended up cutting the one big piece into a few big chunks. There was too much rot on it. The end was already significantly calloused so I went ahead and laid it on its side in some dry cactus soil and just covered up the end a little bit. Hopefully it roots!! Thank you for the helpful information!
