If you grab Sainsburys basics tinned potatoes (super cheap) and put them into a saucepan with a tinned curry/dhal/etc it makes for a REALLY hearty meal. The tinned 'meals' are really handy and actually taste really good. Sains has great quality tinned foods.
If you didn't buy so much processed / convenience / junk vegan food you'd find it A LOT easier and cheaper . I just buy whole plant based foods and it's easy peasy , not to mention healthier too
Really useful video. I also enjoy Sainsbury's tinned vegetarian bolognese (it's vegan) and their Be good to yourself spiced lentil and tomato soup. Both cheap, vegan and easy to cook. I recommend giving them them a try if you haven't already. x
I know, even stock cubes and powders, and even Wine has milk AND eggs! Crazy.. Apparently its because the whey is so cheap as its bi product that suppliers just buy it to bulk up their products.
Great video. I dont do my weekly shop at Sainsbury's but I'm really surprised that after picking all of those vegan products that you're still not totally satisfied. I dont think theyre doing too bad at all. Its at least progessing. A few years ago there werent even half those options there that they have in this video.
I personally don't buy from Alpro because they're owned by a massive dairy conglomerate and PETA showed a massive amount of cruelty at their "farms". Plus they use carrageenan which causes inflammatory responses in the body. I try to avoid palm oil too so those spreads are out for me. Agree with you guys about the labelling. We have loads of large supermarkets near us and there is no consistent method to how foods are labelled. Spend 90% of the time shopping reading :-(
Ugh its so frustrating reading labels all the time, especially when they use names and E numbers you don't recognise. It can be a total minefield. I just filmed my Co-Op experience which will be going live this weekend and I have to say that I was impressed by their consistent labelling on all their own brand products. xx
Dairy industry is every bit as cruel as the meat industry if not more. Check out 'that vegan couple' recent video 'the best cheese ever'. I highly recommend you watch it if you're having trouble giving up cheese. There are lots of vegan cheeses out there some good and not so good. Sainsbury's has just launched 6 new vegan cheeses and they're awesome.
i think if you mainly eat grains, beans and veggies etc. it may not be so bad, but when i see new tasty or convenient foods then it can be a bit frustrating but i try to avoid them, and tend to stick to my favourite ones if i do. sometimes i see a vegan thing on peoples youtubes or insta and so i dont need to look. health shops are usually better at labelling, but then again are more expensive. i think eventually it'll just get better, like probably a number of years ago when the vegetarian label wasnt so prominent, but now there are lots and lots of options around as the market grew, same with veganism surely !!
Great video, I'm going to have to get some of the Linda McCartney chickpea burgers. I'm currently having a sunflower spread from M&S (only £1!) but I might try one from your video too, not the Flora one since they're owned by Unilever and I hear a lot of people boycott them. It's so difficult to keep track of the things we can eat and which companies we shouldn't be supporting!
Mr Kipling jam tarts are vegan, so no need to buy free from ones :) also apple pie usually is, M&S fruited iced buns are lush, most iced fingers are vegan too :)
meowmeowmaddie yep, nearby in Halstead! Thanks for watching. And I blooming love that Sainsbury's - it's huge! - apart from In this video when it fried my brain a bit! X
please could you post the link to the article about the brands Ecover and Method testing on animals please? agree with you about shopping online is way easier and cheaper!
Found this v interesting........labelling is a real issue. I am slowly going cruelty free as I repurchase things. My next step is to go vegetarian (eat v little meat anyway). I'm going slow so I don't become overwhelmed and give up. Great vlog, thanks x
I know I am watching this 3years after the shop ,i hope now in 2019 you buy less plastic warped food ,the banana did not need to go in a plastic bag you throw the skin away, but all that saying I like your vidoes
Don't know whether Sainsbury's stock it but since you were getting irritated by "all" Quorn having egg in I thought you'd like to know that they do some vegan things now. I have some vegan quorn pieces and vegan burgers in my freezer atm. www.quorn.co.uk/vegan/
Yep I know Quorn do a couple of vegan things now but still it would be great to see some of their other products go vegan friendly! Thanks for watching x
Imagine what it was like for vegetarians over 45 years ago when I switched to a non-meat diet. VERY difficult. I'm moving, slowly, to vegan (I switched to soya milk over 20 years ago). You seem to want to buy processed food instead of cooking from scratch. ...and there are loads of alternatives. And why would you take a risk with the onion bhajis when you've checked just about everything else? You would not take a risk if you really are vegan. Just out of interest, how long have you been vegan? I don't understand why you rely on so much processed, tinned and junk food!
im pretty sure the pizza bar bit is vegan as long as you ask for no cheese and get vegetables. i work there and often get a pizza and they all know im vegan there and wouldnt serve me it if it wasnt. Might have to do some research now..
Thats interesting Leah! The woman kind of said 'no' straight away when we asked if the base was vegan and afterwards my husband said that he thought she was just saying that as she either unsure or maybe she doesn't like vegans! It would be great to know for sure one way of the other though xx
+The V Nice Life I've asked to go through their folder they keep in the bakery and 99% of their products including the pizza bases have milk/egg in them. so I go to waitrose for fresh bread they have lovely vegan freshly baked bread :)
Juliet Marlowe thats an obvious, but I know what ur saying.. You can check the egg stamp your swlf Local farmers, have a couple yourself, ask people who own them to buy some. I mean, theirs many ways to navigate the system. But yh reaserch is key👌🏽x
John Stone I'm slowly on my way to a unprocessed, mainly plant based diet because it just groses me out, eating animals/products an ovum yuck. I had chickens at one stage, and they were not happy about humans taking their eggs. It's debateable of course, stun-gunning animals & tricking chickens with a fake egg trade is incomparable, but obviously processed products do not have this niche egg ingredient. This leads to the argument about "humane" meat, of course conditions can be improved, but it's the "slaughter" process, and what the animal feels and knows, it can be seen as ignorant to believe we are right, that because we can dominate we should.
Juliet Marlowe this is neither. A debate nor argument. Am jus saying to her she can eat eggs. Dont be so quick to pull to dam trigger, relax yourself. You don't no me i dont no you, ur speaking to me like you no something i don't, like am a child. Keep your thought as that, jus thoughts, people act like a fucking doctor phd mofucker on here to much, relax yourself.

I love your shopping trips, they are very helpful.

You picked out so many of my favourites!! Great stuff :)
Great minds think alike! Thanks for watching x
Really useful video. I also enjoy Sainsbury's tinned vegetarian bolognese (it's vegan) and their Be good to yourself spiced lentil and tomato soup. Both cheap, vegan and easy to cook. I recommend giving them them a try if you haven't already. x
I hate how there is milk in literally everything!
Great video, nicely edited :)
You & me both! So annoying! Thanks for watching x

Hi Sarah, not sure if you've noticed since this video, but Linda McCartney stuff actually says suitable for vegans on the front if it is
Thanks for this video! I'm not vegan but I just move to the UK and i'm terrified of going shopping. lol. Will venture out this weekend!

Thanks for the update on Sainsburys. I like Violife but I will try S'burys.

Thumbs up just for hubby riding past you on the trolley!
Haha he loved this comment :-D
Loved this video!! :)
Strange question, but are you from the Colchester area?! Because that looks a lot like my local one! Haha. It's good to see all the vegan options :)
meowmeowmaddie yep, nearby in Halstead! Thanks for watching. And I blooming love that Sainsbury's - it's huge! - apart from
In this video when it fried my brain a bit! X
Just to let you know, Tesco have some new frozen stuff, with an actual vegan stamp! I reccomend the vegetable 'fish' fingers.
loved this :)
Have you tried Sainsbury’s own brand free from chocolate brownies? They might be vegan and they are gorgeous
Loved this :)

rabbit on bottle means not tested on animals, nothing to do with it being for vegans are vegetarians.
I love watching vegans shopping! 🙃😁
Also the free from section is sooooo annoying
The flapjacks are vegan, mince pies too
Quick question In relation to the testing on fleas.
Do vegans use flea treatment on their pets? Also Do you feed your pets meat?
Sarah yes and yes it would be cruel to let your dog suffer and yes boys are carnivores they need meat to survive
Sarah if animals are sentinent beings, what makes any living creature any different?
vegan eats animals can survive off vegan diets, you choose...
Try Super drugs own" stuff all vegan ! the items with the Bunny sign on ! xx
I know I am watching this 3years after the shop ,i hope now in 2019 you buy less plastic warped food ,the banana did not need to go in a plastic bag you throw the skin away, but all that saying I like your vidoes

+The V Nice Life I've asked to go through their folder they keep in the bakery and 99% of their products including the pizza bases have milk/egg in them. so I go to waitrose for fresh bread they have lovely vegan freshly baked bread :)
Hello! You can eat eggs, hens naturally make eggs on the daily they'll only become a life form if its fertilised.
John Stone you should do some research on animal welfare in the egg industry, especially caged.

John Stone wow! I was just offering you a different view, like you were trying to offer a different view?
Your so pretty
i wish i had the time to help .
your a classic example of how newbie vegans do it so wrong.
