  • Children as young as 12 years old are committing violent felony crimes with disturbing frequency. And yet, the data would suggest a different story, a dramatic drop in the number of youth offenders arrested, and even fewer actually facing a judge. What's really going on? FOX 13 is shining the spotlight on the juvenile justice system.

Bhahaha!! 90% of this city voted for this. It's a 90% democrat vote. So the people that keep voting for this.. Deserve it. The guy that owns the small dealership voted for this. He needs to shut his mouth and just be happy he got what he voted for. If the people in that city/state did not like the crime and the way they deal with crime they wouldn't keep voting for it. So I say to all these kids and adults that keep on stealing, robbing, killing you are in the right state to stay on this track. If you like living a life of crime you are in the right state to pursue that career. And to all the residents that complain about the crime you get what you voted for. You deserve it. If your part of the 10% in that state that has some common sense.. Get out as fast as you can. It seems to be getting worse. Go to a state that has 2A sanctuary. That way you have the right to defend yourself, your family and property. The USA has become an absolute shit hole. Every state ran by a demon-crat has allowed the criminals to get away with everything. The law abiding citizen can't even defend themselves or they get charged and locked up. The guy that breaks in and tries to harm or kill you will get released from jail on no bond while you sit in jail for a few days or months just for defending yourself.

What good would that do then the family becomes homeles s and then the kids are definitely going to be on the street and that's not fair to their younger siblings to turn their life upsidedown the younger kids in the family get hurt more a better strategy would to have a teen boot camp like they do in phoniex Arizona and make them live in a tent city and do hard time

I was an abused child in an unstable home. I never even thought of pulling this stuff. Letting kids know that their actions will not effect the rest of their lives makes them bold. Adult criminals are being more brazen bc of the lack of harsh consequences. The kids know they won't be put in jail and they know it will not follow them after 18.
Saying you shouldn't punish someone bc it makes them more likely to commit crimes again is dumb. At least take them away from their home life, place them in group homes that make them uncomfortable and show them their are consequences.
Blaming social media is just as lazy as blaming video games or music.

While I understand the point you're trying to make, your anger at the fact of this happening is clouding your ability to listen. When that man said that children who end up in juvenile hall have a 50% chance at ending up in juvenile hall again, that was not just a matter of opinion. This man was taking the facts and statistics and trying to get us to realize how bad our system is for children. No one thinks they should just be let off Scott free. But the alternative to that is clearly not helpful either. The point is we NEED to build a better system so that we can help TEACH these children rather than just punish. This doesn't just go for older children.. its been statistically proven that when young children (toddler age and up) are only ever being punished and not properly educated and the parent isn't making much effort to help them understand things and instead resorting to punishments, it's often times not successful in the long term. Idk about you, but when IM being taught something in a stressful environment, it's pretty damn hard to retain any information that's being thrown at me. Especially when there's a lot of emotion. A lot of thoughts going through my head. You think you know everything and that juvenile detention is the answer but if that was the answer then why were we still having issues ?
Kids don't get like this for no reason. Also I need to point out that just because you experienced that terrible childhood and came out decent enough, doesn't mean that every other child processes things the same. There's no comparing traumas and sufferings. No one's brain works the same. Everyone experiences things differently and everyone learns differently. No children should NOT just be excused from their bad behavior but we have to get past our feelings of annoyance and frustration caused by the terrible crimes they commit and figure out what the ROOT of the problem is. These kids, I guarantee you have all faced something in their lives that led them to this. So many unequipped people become parents and then leave society and their own children to suffer from their lack of parental skills. It's terrible that we are left to pick up the pieces but thats the reality for us. If we want to see a change then we have to do something different. You can have compassion without excusing someone's behavior. It does not in any way mean you are permitting them to be awful. We need to get a handle on this before these reckless children become adults with no remorse and a sense of entitlement.

    • @rsmrw
      @rsmrw Год назад

And ripping children away would cause a MILLION problems. We already have a shit cps system that we have yet to fix. The problem is a lot of the higher ups don't care enough to fix it. All they care about is $$$$$. So for you to say that's the answer is just wrong. How can we create group homes when we already have all these other problems that aren't being tended to? Oh my god have you seen videos of children being taken away from their families? They're absolutely TRAUMATIZED... ive seen children balling their eyes out pounding on the window of the backseat window in a car... so we can't just wish these children to be ripped away so freely. In cases where the child is unsafe, absolutely. But that's not always the case. Sometimes parents are just unaware of how toxic and damaging their approach is but that doesn't mean the child should be ripped away. That means we need to figure out a program where not only children can learn but the parents as well, withOUT adding an extra thick layer of trauma.

I was building a dog house for a neighbors dog and this slimy scum felt entitled to come into the alley where I was cutting wood, starts throwing glass bottles on concrete, breaking them, causing my ankles and legs to bleed where I had rolled up my pants to not get full of sawdust.
I picked up a 2x4,I have a bleeding disorder,if my legs have to bleed due to this trespassing little devil,so should his head bleed.
Cops never show up here so not sure if the thug called them or not.
The bastard is lucky I didn't grab the saw instead of the 2x4.

I would just like to say that not all kids are 'bad'. A couple of years ago, during the pandemic, a 'gang' formed in our neighborhood of 27 homes. These teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 17, noticed people who were putting themselves into voluntary lockdown still needed groceries. So, twice each week, they got shopping lists and went to the neighborhood store and got groceries for the new 'shut ins'. Then they branched out when it snowed and formed a driveway clearing unit (and included sidewalks). And they joined our neighborhood watch. Last summer, lawn mowing. The kids say it feels good to help. And they sure don't mind being paid for things, though their own rules say they will not ask for reward. And they all have 'new' grandparents. When one said she was having trouble with some of her classes, they now have tutors and someone donated a garage to meet in. And crime is almost non-existent. We had some idiots come in and try to steal catalytic converters. Two of the kids saw them, called police, and took pictures (They knew better than to try and stop them, bless their hearts). While the idiots weren't caught, the harassing voices from all around them convinced the thieves that it was not a good neighborhood to take a sawz-all to. Good kids, all of them. And there are more out there besides ours....

Still, kids and parents should be punished to the max. If this keeps happening, then the system isnt working. Change it.

I think a lack of real consequences is definitely a component. Social media definitely plays a role, but largely in the sense of showing criminal behavior in a glamorous light while not showing its consequences.
I also think our consequences don't work. Jail or prison won't deter young people. They don't lose as much from a shorter sentence when they don't have jobs, a home they could lose, etc. These places also don't try to rehabilitate them appropriately and aren't willing to break them if need be.
You know what would? Boot camp and beatings. I bet you they won't steal another car when the consequence isn't juvie, but rather a lashing with a whip followed by months of forced community service with the threat of the lash should they fail to comply, as well as having to pay restitution. I know they won't steal another car after they're sent to Military school and their drill instructor breaks them down and rebuilds them into a better person through discipline and hard work. And while they're there, they not only finish school but get trained for their future career, whatever it is (going to Military School doesn't just mean you go into the army. The skills a teen learns there can be translated into other jobs, especially if apprenticeship is part of it.)
Does this sound harsh, even cruel? Sure. But you know what's worse? Letting these kids rot. They are going to not only hurt others and the community, but also themselves. If they stay on this road, they're going to have a lifetime of suffering and imprisonment. They'll have no chance if something isn't done quick. Yeah, we can get those that need it mental health care, and we should, but some of these kids just need an extremely firm hand to guide them, something they clearly don't have at home.
Love is not always soft and gentle. Sometimes severity is needed.
I think we should reform adult corrections with a similar approach, but that's an essay for another time.

To the guy at 13:50 talking about how these 'troubled kids' live in 'heartbreaking' environments, that's no excuse. LOTS of kids have tough lives but most don't rob old ladies at gunpoint when they're 12-yrs old! This crime is a cultural thing that they take part in consciously. They don't carjack people and steal cars because they're hungry or need new clothes, and the more excuses people make for them, the worse it gets. They don't care about the consequences so somebody needs to come up with something that makes them fear getting caught so much, they think twice about crime. Like military camp where they learn responsibility for their own actions, teamwork, and maybe learn they are a lot more than 'victims' like the Dems and media keep telling them.

Village is corrupted. I was very strict. Keep the child safe and know who’s his friends are. Control the phone, computer and exec to social media. Fish smells from the head, hallo parents. Same here.Husband left when mine were 1 and 2.We lived in a ghetto city. Mine are in early 40's.2 jobs,no drugs,no gangs, no criminal records.
I was also very strict, they were not allowed out unsupervised until after adulthood, only allowed friends with families that shared our same values.
Mine had chores from 3 years old, learning to be responsible, also taking proper care of pets to teach compassion.Their main priority was education.Fear of God.
There's no excuse for any parent to not properly raise their child.
As a single mother, I was always flat broke but made the best of it. So not having money is no excuse either.
I found odd jobs like mowing lawns, shoveling snow, cleaning etc where I took them with me.
This way they learned you have to work to eat,and even when little, they had to help carry groceries home in their little backpacks.

Some of these people don’t gaf about “guidance “… as it goes in one ear and out the other! You can not MAKE them listen and you can not MAKE them follow the rules that they don’t care about!! They don’t care that it affects others. Or themselves. Even when they do get arrested, they KNOW they won’t be punished. So what did they learn about the system? Actions have consequences even if it means they end up under the dirt! We can always have an open dialogue about the elements that contributes to the mental state that leads to criminal behavior. I may have some empathy towards individuals that were brought up in certain circumstances but I am unlikely to feel any sympathy towards the consequences they received as a result of their actions. One of my younger friends that I knew for a long time and this was way before he got into the predicament that he is in now. Sweet kid but wrong social crowd... unfortunately the day that he turned 18. He got involved in a house robbery which involved brandishing firearms and assault on one of the occupants that was home at the time and she was pregnant at the time. I don't know what went through his head as he participated in this home invasion but when I managed to ask him during a one time visit...he himself said that he wasn't in the right state of mind and it just happened. Nothing just happens...there are a series of steps before reaching that end point. Although this is technically his first offense as an adult...it was also a felony offense that he committed and he is unlikely to come out anytime soon. Will he change during that period behind prison...of course, Society will move on and when he does come out. Everything may be unfamiliar to him. People move on and regardless if he's a friend or family...people do not wish to be associated with someone that committed such a heinous crime. I do wish for the best of him in terms of positive change but that is up to him. I've talked to his families and everyone seems distant in terms of knowing the current him.

Of course you shouldn't be allowed to interview them without an attorney present. All suspects have the right to have a lawyer present during questioning, and since minors are vulnerable, they should not be allowed to waive that right. These are constitutional rights, officer. Who cares if it impedes your investigation a bit. A fair trial depends on the defendant having rights the police can't violate, even if it would be more convenient.
