This reminds me Tony Robin's analogy of this to growing a plant. You always give first. If you want to get the fruit from the plant, you water it, give it sunlight, take good care of it so it blooms and you get the result. You can't negotiate and tell the plant, "Give me the fruit first, and I'll water you well." It just doesn't go that way. xD

first at all, your first video pop up at recommendation list when I was watching luxury watches. "Unboxing Hublot Watch" , then I get interested, click it, then the next recommendation "How To Sell Anything To Anyone Anytime - SELL ME THIS PEN" , blown my mind, everything is real, you speak right to the point, then I subscribed your channel after watching that.
And now, this is 3rd video I watch, you are a real person. and you're right, everybody needs to understand, "Your mentor doesn't need you'. Sincerity is the most important thing in order to build relationship.
I will watch and learn more from your other videos.
    Thank you Mr. Dan Lok.

Hey dan! Its Blake the 17 year old from ga. I found my first mentor near me actually, I pass his huge house every day. A friend and I knew we needed a mentor to start somewhere. So we knocked on his door and asked him to help us be like him and mentor us and we would work for him for free for his knowledge. He was indeed generous, he invited us in and told us he would get us a job when we are 18 selling health insurance, he would pay for our schooling and test costs. I was mindblown Dan, I couldn't believe it. I turn 18 in October 21. I am extremely dedicated to being successful, wake up at 4 am, run a couple miles, cook good breakfast, workout at home, go to school, then go to work. on my down time I read books and watch people like you. some of my friends laugh at me bc I watch you but i dont care, I'm going places like it or not. Have a blessed day Dan!

I met you at VidSummit after your speech. Here's a question for the Boss in a Bentley series: Entrepreneurship can be a lonely road since you're living a life very different from the majority of people. What advice do you have for single entrepreneurs in finding a partner in the dating world and for married entrepreneurs trying to be a great spouse and business owner at the same time?

Although I think that knwoledge has to be entertaining, you want it not just for money not for fame but more for you, to fullfil you! To be able to find your greatest power inside of you!

Give, give before you receive, and go with an open mind thats not selfish. Don't fear but respect them. I have often feared to approach my mentors, maybe because he is far much ahead of me and not sure where to start the conversation. My big lesson there.

I love that Dan never asked Alan to be his mentor; it just happened. Still, Dan didn't sit around at home only reading how-to books. He actively sought fresh knowledge at LIVE events. What's at an event that's not inside of a book, magazine or computer screen? People in the flesh. Networking is a big deal and if he hadn't gone, he may have never had Alan as a mentor. Every small decision, every single moment, shapes our life.

I thoroughly enjoyed your answer to this question. It confirmed my thoughts on how to approach, and with attitude to approach a possible mentor. I learned from this video that it’s important to have a connection with the mentor that goes a little beyond business. I should enjoy spending time with this person. It needs to be a good fit. I like that! One word of advice from me to you, cursing in your videos brings down your professionalism. It just doesn’t do your content any favors.

    2. How do you choose your friend and colleague?
    3. What perspective does rich and successful people see about the future?
    4. Should I invest in crypto? Why or why not.
Thanks for reading my questions! I hope you will answer my questions and explain us thoroughly.
    Best regards.

I have invested in program and the gentleman who own the program said about finding the right people that a person should listen to. I remember what he said " ignore 99 % of people and find that 1 person and listen to what ever he said" I have been looking for that person for years and I'm proud to say that I have found this person . I'm proud to be one of your students and I have been hesitant to ask you.
Is there a way I can work voluntarily for you ? this is the only way that I can add value so I deserve to be on your team.

Well damn. You just helped me realize I need to focus more on staying focused!!! You put the Jeet Kune Do videos at the bottom. I enjoy watching them and want to watch more. But then I see a cool title and BAM click it. Next thing I know I’m watching the whole video. Don’t even know why. At the moment I’m not interested in HTC at all. Sure it’s all great advice, I will hold on to it because I watched it and yes it will help out in life in general. My goal for subscribing to your page was to see what I can watch you teach, see the passion you have and remind myself why I fell in love with martial arts years ago and get back into that mindset. It was the greatest years of my life physically and mentally. My Master even gave me the greatest honor and let me teach two students who didn’t have the right schedule to make his classes. They paid him for class and got tested by him when time came to earn rank. I got the honor of knowing I learned hard enough to be able to teach others what I learned. It was AWSOME! Just like at jobs, you train people to become your boss, not to fail. At the rock shop I worked at years ago we would tell each other sell a million. You’ve done that, so I shall say to you sell a billion. Now that I’ve realized these videos are not what I’m here for, I will remain focused on my original goal. I’ll see you over where people be water. One day I will be smoke, you can see it but cannot stop it.

    Learnings
    - a mentor finds you. You just work on being mentor-able.
    - give give give value, don't go to a mentor for money or job. (Be an asset to them, not a liability)
    - respect their time!
    - do you share the same values with your mentor? (The qualities that you admire)
    - successful people are generous
    - when you find a mentor, GO ALL IN

I knew I started listening to you for a reason. I'm reading your book and the chapter about the "Soup Nazi" gave me a moment of realization that is leading to my next big idea and I'm fleshing it out now. Thanks for the inspiration.

Don’t be afraid to ask - is the key in your speech, Dan. As I’m always telling to my protégés - if you ask (assuming you did your homework before it) there is always a chance of getting what you want, but if you don’t - there is 100 % probability you won’t get what you could get otherwise. Besides, - what is the worse case scenario following your ask, - it is simple NO as an answer, but the other one - you’ll get to “your next level”. Feature belongs to the one who ask.

I've always wanted to be a business owner, since my grandfather owned a dry cleaners when I was very young. My family sold the business. So now 30 yrs later, I'm finding that I enjoy speaking to others and networking, However I am not as skilled in marketing as of yet. Does having a mentor create challenges when it comes to originality? Always learning and remaining coachable is the lessons I've received, I do believe it is important in the first 5 years. It feels as though having drive is important however feeling inadequate is also a possible feeling in the beginning. My question is, How should I listen? What steps should I take to discover self-worth? How should I contribute to my company which has been around and active for so long? How do I make my mark? How long do I wait to show what I can do?

I love this video, thank you... I have been looking for a mentor for a long time now but im having hard time finding a person... idk who would I consider or think of... I like you more than Dan pena... but I don't know much of you besides the vids....I'm emersing my self in these vids because I want to be successful idk if I want a Bentley but i want to provide for my wife n son consistently n I don't want to ever be under someone else control again it's demeaning it's annoying when they tell u to work harder but your already working hard n even if u work harder n produce more it's not like they will pay you more u just get the 10 an hour. I'm trying a new job I'm trying to increase my earning potential... but im drowning I've made 3 sales but because 2 failed credit I only get commission for one I'm honestly not sure how much longer I can keep this up, they told me there was a base but it turns out it's not a base it's a forward of ur future sales, if i don't make commission on my sales it feels like I'm wasting my time more than a 9 to 5... It's been three weeks I'm hungry tired n broke putting everything on my card knowing that if i keep at it n don't give up it will work out... I'm not quitting because this right now is my way out .... my best way out... but I need a mentor to help me see a better way. I would honestly like to take your class or even have a mentor such as you, but I know it's a long shot for you to see this, but if you do I will wine and dine you n and work for you, i will do the job that none of ur employees want to do, scrub toilets, mop the floors, clean the grout in ur tile, wash ur cars mow your lawn, trim your trees, pick up your dogs poo, do your dry cleaning, ill just run errands for you all day, heck I'll drive you around as a cheuffer just so I can get insight on boss in bentley. I will do any favor if u just give me a chance to take one of your classes because that's all I can offer I wish it was just me being cheap... cause that would mean I had something in the bank lol

Your mentor finds you. Thank you for this. Now I understand something very powerful about the Closing skill. Your predicament and your mentor finds you. Alan agreed to lunch. Dan P. agreed to lunch. "Life is not a spectacle or a feast; it is a predicament." George Santayana
