Death by Konami Yes, but the fact that it’s called the “Embrace Pokémon” and is evolved when an Eevee reaches a certain level of affection for it’s trainer makes it incredibly unnerving. For a Sylveon to exist, it likely would have had a trainer previously. Meaning that, since the Pokémon wouldn’t have been released into the wild if the trainer died of natural causes, the Sylveon would likely have _strangled it’s previous trainer to death._

Kadabra has got to be the most terrifying. You have some bad dreams and then just wake up as a pokemon, destined to be a slave forced to battle for the rest of your life.
I think its the other way around, notice not a single person in the game talks about anything but pokemon, the entire human race in this franchise are disturbingly mesmerised for the 1 goal of bettering the creatures around them and caring for them.
I always thought that when Eevee's face changes to look like its trainer's, its something much simpler and less disturbing than becoming more human-like. I like to think that its more of an eye color and nose/muzzle shape thing. For example, an Eevee with blue eyes and a short muzzle who has a trainer with green eyes and a longer nose would eventually turn into an Eevee with green eyes and a bit of a longer muzzle. Going a bit further, maybe it depends on hair color as well. For example, an Eevee owned by a trainer with black hair starting to gain a bit of a black tinge to its fur.
Note: in the mythology, Yukionna don’t actually collect them as trophies. But is often depicted as tragic lovesick women who fall in love with human and end up killing them while trying to embrace them
Grim1952 I did say often. I’ve also read stories where the yukionna just eat human and appear as such to attract young scholars But I don’t think I’ve ever read one where it collects the frozen men as trophies. That seem a bit modern.
Actually, I think the Eevee thing is like they have the same look in their eyes. A trainer with a sweet look in their eyes would have a Eevee with a sweet look in their eyes, and a trainer with dead cold eyes would have a Eevee with dead cold eyes. It could also be brow structure or something like that
Ok, so for everyone who got freaked out about the eevee entry, instead of it literally have his face transform into your own, instead imagine your Eevee having the same character and personality as you and maybe can mimic your facial expressions and or patterns, not in a full on transformation, just mimicry. #RATIONALITY
Yup. I thought all Pokemon do that. There was a quote in the Pokemon games (either Gen 1 or Gen 2) where in a trainer battle a lady says "Pokemon often take on the appearance of their trainers. Yours must be strong then." And then there's Ash-Greninja who is so bonded with the "dumb-Ash" that he started to cosplay as his own trainer.
@@themoonandmercury5800 EXACTLY, SO WHY NOT POKEMON OR FOR THAT MATTER EEVEE ITSELF. SO, WHY NOT SIMPLY CHANGE THE ENTRY TO SOMETHING MORE INNOCENT AND ADORABLE LIKE SIMPLY IMAGINE EEVEE TO MIMIC THEIR TRAINERS BEHAVIOR AND MANNERISMS, AS WELL AS FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, AND NOT A LITERAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE FACE!!!!!!!!!
i would assume that the eevee looking like its trainer thing would be more like its fur starts to resemble the trainers hair. I'm fairly certain human traits don't actually appear.
Nothing creepy about Rattata. What happens to them happens to every rodent IRL. That's why they're always eating; to use their teeth so they don't grow too much.
What happens to every rodent IRL around here tends to be cats, kestrels, poison bait, spring traps, airgun pellets or car tyres. Here's a thought: there's not a rodent on Earth that isn't prey for some species of feline. Look how big Rattata gets. Now imagine the cat ...
well ya but they could just put the note in the pokedex as "its incirors grow continuously, that is why it always chew on thing to keep it in check" no need for "it will starves to death"
@@shikniwho7215 That's also true for real rodents too: if their teeth get knocked out of alignment, or they don't use their teeth for whatever reason, they WILL grow to the point where they will starve to death
Actually the Yuki-onna is old folk lore, much older then urban legend as urban legend implies urban living, a thing not common in Japan until after the Meiji Restoration while most tales of the Yuki-onna date back far further then that.
Also, the manner that Snorunt evolves into Froslass is quite chilling as well. In Snorunt's pokedex entry, it is said that it can't survive in very hot temperatures for too long or it dies. Since female Snorunt evolve via dawn stone, a stone that looks like it could be quite hot, and factoring in that Frosslass is a ghost type, it is heavily implied that female snorunt die when evolving into Frosslass. You literally kill Snorunt to make it stronger.
@@austinjones5624 Yeah, and the Snorunt is based off of snow children, or children who died on the mountains. they are spirits of young kids dressed in a tent shaped coat made of grass.
Froslass *Background:* "What even is it?!" *Me:* "It's a Yuki-onna, you uncultured swine. Haven't you ever researched Japanese mythology? Or watched Rosario+Vampire?"
So, years later we got something else with the Primeape thing. In Generation IX, there is an evolution for Primeape when you use one of its rage moves enough, and it turns into a Fighting/Ghost type after having literally died mad.
Wait, so, they made Rattata basically like real-world rodents? Rats and mice (and so on) have the same issue. It's why they gnaw on stuff; it keeps their teeth from getting too big!
I feel like Gamefreak has no limits with what they wanna do for the lore of these things 'cause Nintendo is the dude in the back of the room that's like "Oh yeah, that's fine."
The fact that Rattata’s teeth continue to grow throughout it’s life is just a bit of realism because real rat’s incisors also grow throughout their lives. That’s why they need hard things to chew on to wear them down.
That dex entry about Rattata is actually true for most real life rodents. That's why for pet hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, mice, rabbits etc you want to give them something they can chew on. In fact they can start to curl either downward and start to grow into the lower jaw of the rodent if they get too long, or they can start curling upward and start to grow into the top of the head area. Rodents need to chew on things.
I think the thing about Eevee is a reference to the saying that many dogs look like their owners. I doubt it's anything as drastic as getting humanoid facial structure, but rather have any distinctive features of the trainer (cheekbones, brow, jaw etc.) parodied in a "what would the trainer look like as a small fox" kind of way. For some that might be uncanny, but I find it kinda cute.
For almost any other pokemon, I'd agree, but... Eevee's whole thing is about ridiculous genetic changes. If any pokemon was going to physically change to look like their owner, it's Eevee (and Mew, and Ditto, and Zorua/Zoroark... but you get what I mean)
Yeah, but this is Pokémon not real life. Eevee can and will change its body structure and features and now we know they do even with an ever stone. Yay
I think cubone is even worse then they shown.... cuz if it wears its mothers skull... its clearly a younger version... meaning it will still grow and eventualy outgrow the skull... shattering the skull or badly mis shaping its own to keep it fitted inside.... so whats under that skull could be a disfigured head.....
@@CarbonRollerCaco i read somewhere once that they intended cubone to be the baby of kangaskhan so a cubone only exists if its Mother died and otherwise would have been a kangaskhan
Not sure if this was mentioned but to evolve a snorunt into a Froslass you have to give it a Dawn stone, essentially killing it in the process as the dawn stone raises it's body temperature above normal
That's nature. Shit happens :O I love that the new pokedex has no chill. It's a lot of fun. Also the series is 20 years old, it's not just kids playing anymore
King Keet Fans: Well now we love Pikachu, i guess. Thanks for ruining all of the other pokemon, tho Devs: Pikachu has commited mass genocide in multiple countries and eats the souls of unborn children as a snack at 3 am This b bruh moment can i have licke
2:00 This is actually IRL true of a lot of rodents. It's why they have to chew so much and on basically anything they can find. Here's an IRL pokedex entry: "The common black rat's need to gnaw is so strong that they will even chew on electrical wires in the walls of homes. Thousands of families a year need to rewire portions of their homes to repair this damage and remove the stinking corpses of electrocuted black rats."
For anyone interested Froslass is based off of yuki-onna a yokai who was born from the regretful soul of a woman who froze to death on a mountainside. Yuki-onna guides the kind hearted to safety, but the disingenuous get taken deeper into the blizzard, something if I remember correctly at least one Froslass Pokédex entry imitates when describing it's behaviour.
Constantly growing teeth isn't just common for Rattata, but all Rats. This is why they chew EVERYTHING, it's necessary to keep their teeth from overgrowth, which can lead their teeth to grow through the top/bottom of their nose and mouth. Rats whose teeth somehow become misaligned can also have their teeth grow through the sides of their nose, and both are quite painful.
One theory is that the 12 year old who first catches them writes the entries, which is why they're so over the top and involve things creating black holes and being 10000°c
@@jonathancottrill9729 would actually be a 10-16 year old depending on what generations you are playing. Gen 5 has the 16 year olds so the Gen 5 Dex may be more reliable than the Dex filled by younger playable characters.
I'm pretty sure that all real world rodents have perpetually growing incisors and will starve if they get too long, that's why they're always chewing on things, to keep the teeth worn down to an acceptable length Also, Luke: Snow-runt not Snore-unt
@@CarbonRollerCaco Why? It's just a factoid. When their teeth get too long they can't eat. It says nothing about frequency, nor rarity. If you read a wikipedia page that said "when a rat's teeth get too long it can't eat" would you then assume that all rats eventually starve to death?
Why couldn't Eevee simply stay adorable? Because Pokédex writers say so, is why! These once-regular Pokémon have since become nightmare fuel -- we can only apologise.

Meaning that, since the Pokémon wouldn’t have been released into the wild if the trainer died of natural causes, the Sylveon would likely have _strangled it’s previous trainer to death._

@@SgtSupaman Its a classic Distopian Utopia.

"I love it! It's little nose!"
*"WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO IT"*
I always thought that when Eevee's face changes to look like its trainer's, its something much simpler and less disturbing than becoming more human-like.
Please for the love of Gary, tell me it's more subtle than we think..
Well, Frosslass is based on the youkai Yuki-onna so it was meant to be like that from the beggining.
And you do have to melt your adorable little snow pokemon with a dawn stone and turn her into a ghost type to evolve her.
Note: in the mythology, Yukionna don’t actually collect them as trophies. But is often depicted as tragic lovesick women who fall in love with human and end up killing them while trying to embrace them
@@bowmanc.7439 Depends, there's a few variants on the legend.
Grim1952 I did say often.
I’ve also read stories where the yukionna just eat human and appear as such to attract young scholars
But I don’t think I’ve ever read one where it collects the frozen men as trophies. That seem a bit modern.
If I remember correctly the Mystery Dungeon games released in 2008 you had to defeat a Frosslass that froze a Scizor in her lair
Actually, I think the Eevee thing is like they have the same look in their eyes. A trainer with a sweet look in their eyes would have a Eevee with a sweet look in their eyes, and a trainer with dead cold eyes would have a Eevee with dead cold eyes. It could also be brow structure or something like that
and maybe a unique hair/fur style to try to look like it's trainer...
Those things could be cute.
Shhhhhhh let’s let the Ellenvee nightmare fuel live on
Ok, so for everyone who got freaked out about the eevee entry, instead of it literally have his face transform into your own, instead imagine your Eevee having the same character and personality as you and maybe can mimic your facial expressions and or patterns, not in a full on transformation, just mimicry.
Princess Pikachu So eevee is normal?
Plus regular pets sort of do that with their owners
But it says specifically about genes and face. Genes aren't about emotions, they're mostly physical features that you can't change.

@@shikniwho7215 That's also true for real rodents too: if their teeth get knocked out of alignment, or they don't use their teeth for whatever reason, they WILL grow to the point where they will starve to death
Oh how I missed your 'Who's that Pokémon' segments.
I like to imagine that Evee takes on the face of it's trainer the same way that some people look like their dogs. ....less horrifying.
Fun fact: Frosslas is based off of Yuki-Onna (The"Ice woman") which is an urban legend
I know
@@austinjones5624 Yeah, and the Snorunt is based off of snow children, or children who died on the mountains. they are spirits of young kids dressed in a tent shaped coat made of grass.

Wait, so, they made Rattata basically like real-world rodents? Rats and mice (and so on) have the same issue. It's why they gnaw on stuff; it keeps their teeth from getting too big!

Pokemon has always been a bit dark under the surface. Nintendo kinda does that.
Yup, especially ghost type Pokémons.
I feel like Gamefreak has no limits with what they wanna do for the lore of these things 'cause Nintendo is the dude in the back of the room that's like "Oh yeah, that's fine."
Not limited to Pokemon.
It makes me wonder if these people have played Kirby...
I mean, must inspire theories and creepypasta, even nintendo itself does some ghosts stories in game too
The fact that Rattata’s teeth continue to grow throughout it’s life is just a bit of realism because real rat’s incisors also grow throughout their lives. That’s why they need hard things to chew on to wear them down.
Actually the Eevee one isn't really creepy at all.

Sparks no joy: Pokédex
*Pokémon, not Pokemons
I'd say the pokédex does spark Joy so long as it's got a rotom in it. I bet Joy doesn't appreciate being sparked one bit, the poor nurse.
Imagine somebody with a chin like quagmire from family guy and what the eevee could look like
Yeah, but this is Pokémon not real life. Eevee can and will change its body structure and features and now we know they do even with an ever stone. Yay
the real question is how creepy will they be in Sword and Shield.
also love the talk over the who's that pokémon bit
Oww come on, using Cubone is cheating
I think cubone is even worse then they shown.... cuz if it wears its mothers skull... its clearly a younger version... meaning it will still grow and eventualy outgrow the skull... shattering the skull or badly mis shaping its own to keep it fitted inside.... so whats under that skull could be a disfigured head.....
@@cherrydragon3120 That's how you get a Marowak. The Pokedex entry for Marowak is a Cubone whose "mother skull" has entirely fused with its face.
What happens to the Cubone that DON'T claim their mama's skull when she bellies up?

@@CarbonRollerCaco i read somewhere once that they intended cubone to be the baby of kangaskhan so a cubone only exists if its Mother died and otherwise would have been a kangaskhan
Not sure if this was mentioned but to evolve a snorunt into a Froslass you have to give it a Dawn stone, essentially killing it in the process as the dawn stone raises it's body temperature above normal
That's nature. Shit happens :O
I love that the new pokedex has no chill. It's a lot of fun.
Also the series is 20 years old, it's not just kids playing anymore
This is true, and i wish Nintendo and Gamefreak would remember that and not have the game hold your hand when the new ones come out.

According to the anime Magikarp is nearly inedible, nothing but scale and bone. The maple glaze would be good though.
The chief of slugs:YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO US
sliggo:MELTS THEM

Frostlas is based on an especially creepy yo-kai. What'd you expect?
Constantly growing teeth isn't just common for Rattata, but all Rats. This is why they chew EVERYTHING, it's necessary to keep their teeth from overgrowth, which can lead their teeth to grow through the top/bottom of their nose and mouth. Rats whose teeth somehow become misaligned can also have their teeth grow through the sides of their nose, and both are quite painful.
The one question I've never seen anyone ask is who's making all these pokedex entries?...
One theory is that the 12 year old who first catches them writes the entries, which is why they're so over the top and involve things creating black holes and being 10000°c
@@jonathancottrill9729

"Ghastly is a volleyball with teeth"
Yes. I heard that XD
I'm pretty sure that all real world rodents have perpetually growing incisors and will starve if they get too long, that's why they're always chewing on things, to keep the teeth worn down to an acceptable length
Also, Luke: Snow-runt not Snore-unt
My thoughts exactly. As long as they keep gnawing, they're fine. Just part of being a rodent.
They clearly grow too fast in Rattata's case.
@@CarbonRollerCaco What makes you think it is a problem that isn't well managed?
@@jypsridic The Pokédex mentioning it _might_ be a hint.
