    I made this 3 years back, as a part of my TOM project, showing this as a 6 links mechanism. Fun part is, out of nowhere, today I got this video as my first recommendation on the feed 😂😂😂.
    I just came here to comment, RUclips algorithm is high since last few days 😂😂😂

      @@AdityaSingh-kw8bi Just try with a high tensile strength rubber band. The more the pre rotations, the longer the flight.
      The rubber band quality makes a lot of difference. You can also can do by merging multiple bands together, but then you will run into problem of them fusing together. Just apply some oil or powder while using multiples, to avoid fusion.

      Yeah, it's hard to believe all these years we've been suffering along with low rubber content regular rubber bands. This stuff is a world of difference.

    Man i love this video, it was so easy to follow the instructions cuz his voice was clear and went by slowly, plus all the measurements were put on screen so i paused the vid for it

    Thank you for using Imperial measurements. that is what we were taught in school in the 80's
    I can convert them over to metric, I have learned how to do that using Google but, it just makes it easier.

    Nice, a bead can be added between the tube piece and shafts, to make it as frictionless as possible

      The mechanism and the craftmenship of this toy plane is so awesome and amazing.
      It's not like you can learn fast to make a paper plane.

    Hi ..... We had a competition on building a ornithopter.... Most of the teams referred your design and successfully built it. It was just amazing to see it fly (Atleast for a few seconds ) ... I want to thank you for sharing this !

    Instead of using cotton thread, I'd consider using something like braided fishing line such as Spiderwire. It's much stronger than cotton, though more expensive.

    I have two question: can I use the same tube you used for wings for rubber band?
    How long are the wings?

      You'd need a larger diameter plastic tube for rigidity and it may or may not be too heavy -- hard to say for sure.
      For the wing lengths, I talk about making the wings at 3:03 and give the dimensions in that section. I give all dimensions throughout the video.

    Niiiice. The stops from probably 16 guage wire insulation is imaginative.
    It seems aluminum TIG welding rod would be stiff enough to replace the paper clip wire, at least for the tail mount.
    Realistic flapping. As intended, it looks like a bird when flying.
