Yaan has been keen on bionic robots since childhood - those are the kind of robots that look like living things. Yaan’ll tell you what his ornithopter consists of and how to make one for yourself.
This video is the first series of mini-series: “Ornithopter”.
In episode one we’ll discuss the types of ornithopters, how to make them fly and what kind of mechanics you’ll need for that.
Everything you read above is not true, in fact:
Yaan always wanted to have a bird. But his mother did not allow him!
But he grew up and he had a chance to fulfill his dream.
But he ran into a problem. The bird he wanted was already dead.
Cloning the bird turned out to be too expensive.
Therefore, he decided to do the same, but mechanical. He will face challenges that he will overcome. In memory of the very bird.

I have “0” experience with Arduino, and am not near smart enough to attempt this challenge, but I AM dumb enough to attempt it anyway. I just need to find more pre-made parts to accomplish it. Wish me luck!

Hi my friend! Excellent job! What is your opinion about servo flap ornithopter?
Am an ornithopter designer too. Am trying to build the peregrine falcon. I was using servo as my drive gear mechanism, but it turns out am not satisfied in the flapping frequency. I got 3hz on 7.4v. Kinda poor. My question is does much flapping frequency or flapping speed gives more lift and thrust?
Also should I aim for speed or torque on my wings?

Great video man. I read your complete article on instructions.com. I have already started working on my ornithopter. I have a problem and was seeking your expert advice. Can I go for a low KV motor such as 1000kv that ways I won't have to use much gears and the torque will also be high making it more efficient.

Yes, such motor seems appropriate. But you will need to calculate the gear sizing (size and number of sprockets) to have the necessary flap rate.
