  • In this week’s vlog - how gratitude helped me through some really difficult times to inspire you.
However difficult life is, and whatever challenges you are facing, there is always hope. Practising gratitude and resilience in the face of adversity kept me going. Learn how to be grateful and resilient, despite facing difficult times. Even if you have mental health struggles including burning out, being unable to work, and financial scarcity you can still find things to be grateful for.
Practising gratitude can help you to cope with financial struggles and past traumas.
Instead of feeling like a failure you can be grateful for all the support you have received.
Using tools such as my meditation practice and my desire for a quiet, peaceful life kept me going through these difficult times and can help you too.

When you said that you never wanted a career, you just wanted to live a simple, quiet life…my heart skipped a beat! So…I am grateful for having met you…someone who understands that sentiment! ❤❤❤❤ When I was in high school and everyone was going to college…I wasn’t excited about going. I felt pressured to go. I just wanted to work odd jobs and explore life as a young adult. I didn’t want more responsibilities (didn’t yet know that I was AUDHD). I really wanted to be a mom (later…when I was settled in life). I ended up going to college at 18 and went in fits and starts…finally graduating at 29 years old with a teaching credential. I’m grateful for my education without a doubt. I wish my family would have understood what my needs were and not pressured me, though. I’m grateful for my 25 year-long career as a teacher. I wish I would have come across that decision organically, though and not out of obligation. Currently, I’m grateful for having found RUclips as a way to fund an early retirement (the goal at least). It will be a decision I finally got to make on MY terms! ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I never understood why people would want to do a 9-5 job! I became a teacher at the age of 39 because I was getting divorced and needed to support my family. I lasted full time for 3 years but did work as a supply (substitute) teacher on and off until 2020 then decided I didn't want to go back when the schools reopened after lockdown. I am hoping now to earn money from travel writing and vlogging and teaching meditation. It's happening slowly!
I still mark exams though as it's a handy way to earn some extra money for the summer. Sending love ❤❤❤❤

I wanted to be a homesteader. Carer...meant nothing. I took early retirement at 58. Took awhile to not feel guilty for giving me pleasure. Now l love it and feel pressure is off.

I haven't had a full time job since 2005 when I was 42. It wasn't a conscious decision at the time but I didn't want to miss any more of my children's lives.

I'm grateful to you for sharing your journey Helen. I admire you for taking action, starting your channel and putting yourself out there. I know it's not easy as I too am trying to scrape together the courage to start a channel and I'm grateful to you and others for inspiring me to get going.

Good luck! We think others are judging us but they aren't judging us nearly as harshly as we judge ourselves. xx
