  • Where is the immune system? As an anatomist it can be difficult to point to, unlike other systems of the body.

The role of the large skeletal muscles , functioning as servo-assist pumps to aid in returning fluid and waste products from the extracellular matrix through the lymph system and eventually to the heart and lungs, is rarely given public acknowledgement, other than perhaps the grudging admission that walking is good for the circulation. Even Schopenhauer knew this. Going on this knowledge, I tested the theory that beyond a daily leisurely or even brisk walk, spending a little time moving about on the toes every day would reduce edema in the foot and ankle area. For me, the results are undeniable. That's probably not the sort of information that is welcomed on a site such as this, especially when coming from a non-doctor. In my defense, as an industrial engineer, I do focus on systems, not just hospital management. It is not just residual pressure as measured at the diastolic level, that pushes the interstitial fluid back into the veins. You could leave this post up, if for no other reason than to give reason to a few laughs from the experts. Sorry for the hijacking though!

Yep, that's correct. I think I talk about this here: ruclips.net/video/Z_K3fDRdq7A/видео.html (or maybe here: ruclips.net/video/ZJgzZP3klbc/видео.html).
I find it hard to not talk about the musculovenous pump whenever I'm talking about lower limb muscles, fascia, veins or lymphatic vessels. It's a nice bit of anatomy and physiology.

Hello Mr. Webster, I saw your video about hiatal hernia as my dad just had a surgery. As I was checking out the videos I noticed you are a fellow climber 😊👍. I hope to learn more and perhaps help my kiddo with her asthma/bronchitis issues. I hate that she has to be frequently on nebulisers and other medications. Thank you for your videos!

I wonder if the GALT plays a role in the development of some forms of IBS. I've read that there is a theory that IBS can be due to a hyperlocal inappropriate immune response to a food.

Since the lymphatic vessels are floppy and open to let stuff like excess fluid and bacterias and escaped protein in, but they close up and not let them out,
My question is: what If the vessel flops open to let, for example, a bacteria in, and while it is open, a bacteria already captured escapes out? Is that even possible? If it is then what happens?
