What does the Italy coach know that Howe doesn't? Why don't we use Tonali in his best position? Yet Bruno plays terribly for Brazil but we want to build everything around him. I think we're getting it backwards.
Bruno can have a shocking game (and often does), and all it takes is for him to put a hard tackle in, does his shouty thing to the fans and they all love him. I think Howe responds to this by continuously playing fan favourites
I think back over the past two years and there’s a few matches that really sum up just how badly let down I feel by this side and this manager. Losing at home to Liverpool from a winning position vs ten men. Being turned over at home by Forest. One of the worst displays of football I’ve seen in years at Fulham this season. This result last night which was abysmal considering how much we stood to gain from it. And of course, losing to a really weak Manchester United in the league cup final. All this has been stamped in my memory more than the PSG win, the top four finish, the odd cup derby win here and the thumping of a dross Spurs or Sheffield there, because now on balance, there’s more of the bad than there is of the good. The bad results turn up regularly and the wins, when they come, are not emphatic and not convincing. We’re in net decline as a team and our standing as a club is suffering. I think Howe will be gone by the end of the year because I can’t see him taking us into Europe with this lot. Sorry. Not happening.
Questions to Howe please at the next 'Presser': - you've had over a year to get Bruno and Tonali to complement each other, why has that not happened and what are doing about it? - what is the reason for the precipitous drop-off in the goals tally? - why do you use a 'one size fits all' tactics from match to match regardless of the opposition? - how much training time is dedicated to offensive and defensive set-pieces? - given you stated you only had one target in the summer, are you considering multiple options for January? But he will be asked mundane questions about irrelevant issues to tick the box of transparency.
@@SensibleMoniker great questions.... That the "mundane" jurno's *should be asking. But their scared... or more interested in appeasing the manager.... Sometimes I watch it, & I'm embarrassed at the questions asked
Chris it's not working with Eddie, we will be back having the same conversation again in a few weeks. West Ham Away last season was lucky for Howe! We were sick of it then, but he got the luck and won and it died down. I wanted Howe to do well but it's just not happening Sorry
£55 million international on the bench is a joke... the wins against Arsenal & Forest have only masked over the bigger problems. We've scored less goals than Wolves & had zero shots on target in the 2nd half last night. That tells me we lack creativity, which shoulda been addressed in the summer... yet we chose to chase after a centreback. That blame lies with Eddie... Are we just delaying the inevitable? I just dont know if Eddie has what it takes to take us to the next level. Im sure Roberto Mancini is available...
And how the hell can Sandro start for Italy EVERY time without playing for us but some how NEVER starts with us it's bloody mental not starting a player like that Italian's probably thinking WTF how can he not start for Newcastle united.
A top class manager would never let his team be beaten like that at home, for me Howe makes to many mistakes in his squad selection match day. I would have started Tonali and Miley instead of willock and Longstaff.
Loopy trained his players in the evening in the cold weather and we go away into hot weather training and they come back to sub zero temperatures- that’s not the best preparation- he should have taken them to Iceland 😂
Bewildered me. Tonali a guaranteed starter for one of the most iconic pubs in the history of the world. Comes to newcastle and can’t get in ahead of longstaff. Sorry Eddie but you’re a divvy with that one
This is turning into a never ending cycle. Newcastle need consistency and the question is can eddie and his players deliver that? It's looking more and more like they can't. Yes, we have playedwell a few times but playing bad has become the norm. We cant breakdown teams that sit in. Lewis miley should have been played in an advanced role to help isak, he creates, unlocks defences when playing high but eddie wont play him regularly for at least another 3 years.
WTF...who do we think we are to have the kind of consistency you want 😮 Name one team apart from Liverpool with consistency at the min? Don't get wrong, we should not be loosing at home to any team in the league...if can't win, we get a point. This loss is on the players. If they had taken their chances, their low block wouldn't have happened as they would have come out more. Maybe Miley would have made a difference but Eddie didn't think so. What gives us the balls to think we know better than the manager that spends half of his time with the players and has been doing this job for a long time. No one thought that was a bad selection and bench. Managers get it wrong sometimes but this is not one of those times. The players fcuked this one up...end of story 😡 I believe we will bounce back at Palace...Howay The Lads ⚽️💥
@Toon4reals6991 I'm an allowed an opinion, as is everyone including you. Difference is I don't think you don't deserve one. Yes eddie is the gaffer but I pay my money go the the games so I'm allowed a voice. Maybe you would enjoy supporting a north Korean club. What a melon.
100% agree that Miley should have been on the bench as only one central midfielder on the bench with Tonali. However, don’t think it’s Targett who we she be replacing in that squad. It should have been Osula who was never going to get on the pitch with Wilson back. Or one of miggy/murphy as they both cover the same position. Targett although hasn’t played for donkeys would be natural replacement for Lewis Hall if he got injured.
100% spot on with regards to midfield. It should be horses for courses. Tonali and/or Miley should be in for games where teams will play a low block and we need to unlock them. Longstaff and Willock for games against top sides where we need more running and pressing off the ball. On paper sounds like we’ve got some great options, just wish Howe would utilise them better. Gordon needs to start scoring, finishing is poor. isak guilty of poor finishing also
The only people who think Newcastle are contenders are the fans , the manager summed it up when he said realistically the league cup is the only realistic chance of silverware this season
Forget top 4, it's a pipedream with our squad. Top 6 is going to be a stretch. I think Isak will go during the summer. He is world class and needs to play in a team where he gets decent service. We need to up our game otherwise 'the project' will be in tatters...
Chris, honestly, this is the first time I’ve gone on social media since the game. I am so unbelievably appalled by what I say I’ve sort of been in denial about it.
I would have got rid of Howe last year and I find that some of his decisions are bewildering. Why are we signing players like Kelly? Why are we giving players who are past their sell by dates new contracts.? And why are Newcastle's owners not using their money to challenge the corrupt Premier league in court? If Howe had been managing any of the top six he would be gone by now.
Must be frustrating dominating a game then conceding a sloppy set piece goal two games in a row. We got ourselves out of trouble at forest but doing it two games in a row was unlikely.
Midfield and attack is not the issue Chris, our back 4 is made up of 2 young full backs and a trio of mediocre centre backs. The sooner Botman is back and we buy a quality CB to shore us up, the rest of the team will have to compensate...
Antonio wouldn't have manhandled Burn like he did with Kelly for the entire game. Or completely lose his man for their first goal. Burn was a big miss last night, whether people want to admit it or not
@phil5357 can't argue with that Phil, however, our back 4 is not the best with or without Burn! If we're to be successful we need major upgrades in the centre to enable the rest of the team to function effectively...
@GraemeMorton-f6l completely agree mate. Think Eddie knows it too, hence the 'Summer of Guehi' carry on. Botman hopefully back before Xmas atleast, but for me, other areas need improving before the defence in the short term. Plus, Botmans presence should improve whoever his partner is.
We still have to travel to Arsenal, City, Liverpool, Villa, Man Utd, Tottenham and Brighton. We are facked. Even Ipswich is tough and they’ll really want to beat us for obvious reasons. January is going to be very interesting.
If January isn't successful in terms of additional quality then Europe is gone but mote pressing right now is the manager getting his team right with the players he has.
We only play well against attacking teams these days. We sit back, soak up the pressure then try and catch them on the break. If we've got the ball there is zero creativity. This is the problem with teams who don't have a number 10 who can produce a bit of magic or convention wingers who can cross the ball.. Imagine Peter Beardsley in behind Isak, even James Maddison or Paqueta, 2 players we should have signed instead of yet another left sided, right footed winger like Barnes. Then we come to Tonali. He offers us nothing different at all in a counter attacking system. We should cash in on Tonali and Barnes and use the £100million properly by getting players who improve us.
All the seasons Barnes was at Leicester he was double figures for goals every season, the guy can finish yet he's reduced to bit part cameo's, there's a lot of players no where near their best and they need a kick up the arse. Get yourself a press pass Chris and ask those questions.. 🙏
Eddie should have started with her Sandro. There is a clear gulf in class between Tonali of Longstaff, and he should be starting. I don't know why Eddie keeps playing the same I formation with the same players? The other managers have got it worked out. If Eddie keeps persisting with the same formation he should start with his best 11. Also, Eddie seemed to panic in the last quarter of the game. Eddie should leave Gordon is his best postion; Eddie is not getting the best out of him. I think that the owners may be running out of patience.
I agree, Cheis. I dont think we utilise the service to Isak nowhere near enough. Imagine if he got proper service. His goal tally would be off the scale. We fizzled out far to easy. In short, teams have figured us out. Agreed, also. The jurno's are their to challenge the manager. Not ask him about blur or oasis, ffs ! Tonali must start from now on. Its criminal not starting him... Longstaff is to LTD... Howe's game management is his biggest downfall.. Kelly is S!@£
Tonali has had less impact on our midfield than 17 year old Lewis Miley did, maybe if you all took your Sandro Tonali underpants off you'd understand why he's not starting. Tonali hasn't done it for us so far, much in the same way as JD Thommason, Hugo Vianna etc. You give Tonali a free pass for being shit when he came on but have a go at Murphy, they were both shite so why do you only highlight one of them ? 12:05 Secondly, there is a reason we're only 4 points behind 4th place and that's because other than Liverpool, all of the sides above us have lacked consistency. You think fans of city, Villa, arsenal aren't frustrated with their teams too ? How many defenders did we have on the bench, surely we need some defensive cover on there ? We were shit on Monday but we're in danger of throwing the baby out with the bath water here, come on man, this is a strange season so far and it's still all to play for.
Thing is Chris, I agree with all that…but you’re NOT saying Eddie out? So what are you saying? This is the problem all around this club, no joined up thinking. He got a reprieve after the arsenal game, and yeah forest, even though for much of that game we were awful and it was the individual brilliance of certain players that changed it, as well as crucially forest getting the jitters and feeling they needed that second goal and staying to open. But as soon as I saw that team sheet I knew we’d lose. This clown I’m afraid never ever learns. I can forgive mistakes. I can’t forgive them made over and over again, and frankly I’m not sure they’re mistakes, the fact he wants to sign up Sean on a fat new contract says it all, he favours dutiful lieutenants over actual good players who’ll sign up to the narrow constraints of HoweBall. Bruno has been ruined by him, that flair player of a few years ago is gone. Willock used to be a goal machine. To say people have the blinkers on with Howe is an understatement. So frankly until people are brave enough to stop pussyfooting around with their ‘critiques’ and start saying he needs to go, this season will drift like a dust bowl hobo, and we’ll end up come spring entrenched mid table, maybe lower, and the frustrating thing is, right now, this season is salvageable, sack him now, get Jose in, we can still get - with January investment - top 6, maybe if the gods align, top 4. But Chris, for the sake of this club, stop with the apologia, stick the head above the parapet and let the Eddie army be damned, those muppets haven’t a fucking clue what they’re watching in any case, mostly they’re kids who only think howes all that because they came of age during our darkest hours of mcclaren/bruce/carver etc, not to mention the false dawn of the rafalution. I suspect you know what needs to happen and that we will never achieve what we all want under this guy, you’re just a little shy of saying it.
So, no spend in January and new manager soon? Or, give him another roll of the dice, watch it fail and queer the pitch for a new guy who comes in later and has to try and make things work with the likes of Longstaff, Kelly, Almiron, Wilson etc? I think PIF and the board may be in analysis paralysis mode right now. They, like me, can’t be sure if the problem lies with the workman or the tools.
I hear that re the workman and his tools, but this particular workmen picked his tools - we could’ve offloaded Sean, Miggy et al, when we had the chance, after the 22/23 season, like KK did with David Kelly say, they’d been integral that season but had the sense to know that they’d hit their peak and it was time to move them on, but this guy doesn’t think like that, hard headed, he’s got a soft centre like a strawberry cream, and thought they ‘deserved’ there chance, and we are where we are, stuck with a load of bang average players getting older and more average by the day. Every coaching session under him is taking more value of bruno. Not only that, he wants to sign up longstaff to a new contract and goes out a gets Lloyd Kelly in on mega wages. He’s an utter clown. I don’t absolve the board of blame, there’s no joined up thinking re transfers and it’s like the Marie Celeste at our place, a seeming fucking ghost ship with no one making decisions. They need to start because this drift cannot continue. I say again, Howe stays, just kiss this season goodbye, and with it any hopes of top 6, and with that isak, bruno etc, and we’ll be back to square one. It almost makes me cry the extent to which all involved have fucked up phase one. Wrong manager, and given way too much power. Clearly, unai was the man, a sliding doors moment. Maybe Bruce in the end was right (god, that hurt 😂)… we got the guy who relegated Bournemouth… 🤔
No spend in January and new manager in soon? Or, give him another roll of the dice, try to refresh the squad and possibly watch it fail and queer the pitch for a new guy who comes in later and has to try and make things work with the likes of Longstaff, Kelly, Almiron, Wilson etc? I think PIF and the board may be in analysis paralysis mode right now. They, like me, can’t be sure if the problem lies with the workman or the tools.
I think he'll get the season mate unless we fall right off but I'm starting to severely doubt European football will be at SJP next season & with that he'll be gone.
I think club hierarchy have ran out of ideas not jist Eddie. No major signing for what will most likely be 3 window if we believe Craig Hope. Our squad is awful bar 7 or 8 players. We have messed up on selling players holding out for more when in reality they arent worth more. This is down to being terrified of PL and PSR. If club had balls to take it to the brink or be creative and bold with rules then ask for forgiveness the project wouldnt have stalled. As it is Eales was a weak chairman, we have no ballsy leadership and are stuck in limbo now waiting on magically organically growing our income while being tied up and stuck with the 22/23 squad plus Barnes and Tonali whom Howe doesnt rate who if we did sell would sell for less than what we paid for them. We really are screwed at the moment and the 1st team can feel it. Sell Bruno. Start Tonali. Reinvest and move on.
We just don’t have that high class player who can win a game or create an opening on a regular basis, why is it that we have good players who frequently fail to deliver in games against so called poorer sides, Bruno,AG ISAk, how is Kelly anywhere near a shirt also Willock his performances have been woeful we’re going backwards man🤷♂️
you will always be able to question eddie as he is just not an elite manager. he is a good manager but far from elite, this is nothing new, it has been happening for two seasons and for some reason he is always blameless, it is the players or ffp. he is very one dimensional. you won't have to shout sack him, he will bring it about his own downfall in time. an italian international can't get a game before a very limited player, local or not. chasing a game and he brought on murphy, get that osula on and go 3-4-3, shit or bust, at least try something
What a clueless statement about dealing with a Low Block. Only City, Arsenal and Liverpool have the players to break down a low block and that's not all the time. The one player we had that could have maybe given caused problems for them...Maxi... you all wanted him gone because he didn't track back. Plain and simple, the players fcuked up on this one. Don't even mention Eddie. Podcasters seem to think they know better than the people actually doing the job of training and picking the team😮
There was a glaring problem: when West Ham counter attacked, they broke through our defence like a hot knife through butter. If I'm generous I'd blame Kelly's lack of match fitness. All other times, West Ham parked the bus. Definitely agree with your thoughts re: Tonali. He's definitely under-used
I agree Chris Tonali must start particularly in matches where we will have the ball and need to break a team down.
What does the Italy coach know that Howe doesn't? Why don't we use Tonali in his best position? Yet Bruno plays terribly for Brazil but we want to build everything around him. I think we're getting it backwards.

We just don’t have that high class player who can win a game or create an opening on a regular basis, why is it that we have good players who frequently fail to deliver in games against so called poorer sides, Bruno,AG ISAk, how is Kelly anywhere near a shirt also Willock his performances have been woeful we’re going backwards man🤷♂️
Gordon to me has been poor all season, he's never set the world alight
Sorry but EH looks like he doesn't even know who his best 11 is. EH is just as much to blame as the players.
you will always be able to question eddie as he is just not an elite manager. he is a good manager but far from elite, this is nothing new, it has been happening for two seasons and for some reason he is always blameless, it is the players or ffp. he is very one dimensional. you won't have to shout sack him, he will bring it about his own downfall in time. an italian international can't get a game before a very limited player, local or not. chasing a game and he brought on murphy, get that osula on and go 3-4-3, shit or bust, at least try something
