These drums are used all the time in prog rock bands like Rush and Dream Theater. Though there are lots of pro drummers who have them, yet they are underutilized.
@@IRLguy777 I don't recall Neil Peart using octobans before, all I know is that besides the usual snare and bass drum he used concert toms, the usual rack and floor toms, and gong drum.
I am asking a question here since this is official channel for TAMA drum. I have 4pcs of Low octoban, and having trouble with adjusting the angles of them since their holders are not adjustable. But octobans here in the video have their holder, which are ball-type holder. I have searched for years to find compatible holders, but there wasn't. I even looked for parts catalogue in the offical TAMA website. Is there a new octoban holder that is a ball-type?
You could use holders like the MTH900A or the combination MTH900 (for two), and I believe those are in a stand. Both use the "Omnisphere" mechanism. Look into Gibraltar as well. They all make a similar Omnisphere-type ball holder. But this assumes you would be mounting them side-by-side, not over each other. I don't think Tama offers any options for mounting 4 together over each other in a 2x2 configuration. You'd probably have to create something using a couple of MTH900 holders mounted over each other (or whatever the newest dual tom holder model is).
josiah norris well, there are some octoban-like instruments in other drum brands, ie. Pearl, DW. But those instruments are as expensive as Tama's, as far as I know. Maybe U can make ones - There are arcrylic shells on Ebay, and U can do it by urself :)
I made a pair out of 6" pvc pipe and I found that a 2 ply head cranked down quite tightly seemed to give them the best tone...for me anyway. Wooden ones might respond differently however.
Every drummer ever both desperately wants these and has no practical use for these.

Haha I know what you mean. I am really tempted to buy some but know I would not really use them enough to justify it.
I would use them instead of Fantoms. Fantoms are so hard to find.
they add flavor to all kinds of fills, its up to the drummer to use them.. to use them.. i mean? right lol

Problem is the mounts aren't compatible with LRod holders to get them on an omnisphere. The man in the video must have changed the mounts
How much money is needed to purchase all of them with it's due stands? 2000$?
I'd like to see pearl or Yamaha''s version of these!
Pearl have these kind of toms, named rocket tom
Fuck Pearl.
It's a video to show off octobans & what's the soundtrack? _Cr@ppy _*_drum machine_*_ music!_
Honest question... How are these to be tuned? By a specific pitch, or head tension, note???

They are tuned by the ear.

Sounds like pringles can
The background music is unbearable
NO MAMS...
