Comment of the day! 😂👍 Here in NZ, there actually _are_ males named 'Tama', as it's also Māori for 'boy'! 😀 There also is a 'Tama Street' in my neighbourhood 😊
@@MissyMuthaTruckiNseen them 5 times in the span of about 10 years and he’s only gotten better. I won’t lie and say I’ve loved every musical direction they took with the last few records but Mario’s unbelievably tight playing is a constant and their live shows only get better over time
@@zachjohnson5494 I agree 100 percent, I like the older stuff better but seeing them at a 500 person venue back in like 2010 then watching them at a giant outdoor venue last year. Seeing their staff show evolve has been insane
It's incredible how Mario's drums on Gojiras songs are as recognisable as the guitar riffs , like appart of The art of diying , L'Enfaunt Sauvage was so clear. It's just amazing.

That's also true for Dave Grohl. When we remember some Nirvana riffs/songs, the drums always come together with the riff.
that's because in gojira songs guitars set the rhythmical base of the song with simple riffs and the drums go wild over it. while generally it is the other way around in mainstream metal. drums are the lead instrument in gojira songs
I must say, I have been a professional musician for over 35 years and am a lover of drums and drummers and I gotta say, Mario's one of the most musical drummers ever. He has such an amazing combination of power, dynamics, musicality, technicality and such a wonderful time feel and overall musical style...He is a pleasure to listen to, even when he is just playing a simple beat or repetitive sticking on the kit...a JOY!
That has to be the best reissue of any legendary snare, also that video blew my head off. Mario, Bravo c'etait magnifique!!!! Tama, hats off to a fantastic instrument, second to none!
Those drums, under the hands of that man, sound amazing. The colors and the resonance are astonishing. I can't say in 50 years I've heard drums that good. Mario - amazing as always. I could play a lifetime but die from the art of trying...
I had the chance to meet Mario in Montréal. He is a very nice dude and awesome drummer! J’espère avoir la chance de te rejaser un des ces jours Mario!! 🤘🏻👍🏻
I know. And Anne should have been the one doing the video. And it should have been at Silver Cord. He's not a big talker, and by all accounts, Anne is the one that lets him focus and feel comfortable. But yeah shirtless Mario is Natural Mario.
Mario recommends it. That should be good enough for any drummer and he says it suits other styles besides metal, so there you go Tama. Best endorsement ever.
I hope he put a lot more of his crazy stuff on a new album, specially after watching the drum solos he uploads. In the last two album he sounded a bit more simple and laid back
Like, I know the beat. I can see it in my head, I've seen the breakdown of it, but I just can't do it. Not even just my limbs, my brain can't process it as it's happening. Also, who tf has THAT MUCH POWER? Holy hell, he's literally a walking trigger with those perfect hits.
I'm not even a drummer, but that intro on "Art Of Dying" is utter madness lol. How it's humanly possible to play such a complex pattern, let alone write it, just blows my mind. Mario deserves the recognition he's been getting the last few years, one of the most creative drummers out there!
I'm waiting to hear reviews from smaller channels on how this one compares to the original and 40th anniversary one. Other than that, definitely getting one. Just recently picked up one of my grails, a vented OCDP 14x6, now this one. Thanks TAMA for listening to us and giving us another shot at this drum. Now if I could only get Abe Cunningham's signature snare, lol.
You're a beast man!! This snare for 4K looks like Tama was dying to opt in on the Bell Brass speculation "programme"... Maybe they felt like they were missing out if it was only going on in the second hand market.
Yes, the subtitles are crap! He said "toucher à la peau et fixer les harmonies", which means "touch the head and fix the harmonics". "Fixer" is misused here because in French it doesn't mean "to solve a problem". But as he lives in the US, he starts to forget how to speak good French 😄

Just brilliant. Its criminal how long it took the world to notice them. Gojira deserves all the accolades they receive.
Mario is IMHO... the most amazing drummer on the planet. Truly a beast.
That ride is absolutely killer. One of the most distinct pieces on his kit.
This guy is superb at what he does. Truly a master of drumming.
Even the dropping of sticks had rythm and feel to it.
Exactly, I think his sticks also practice the rhythm
i wonder how mario always have the best sound engineers on his showcases. It never fails
Mario will never cease to inspire me. What a phenomenal drummer ❤
Mario is freaking INSANE!!! What a beast!!! That bell brass snare sounds amazing-I can listen to him play all day!!
Not only the snare is great. But your drums, man, the sound of these drums are super natural and clear. I really love your drum sound.
Mario est le candidat parfait pour le vidéo demo du bell brass. Qu'elle batteur incroyable.
All i have too say is Back Beat and Rim Shots Mario is just incredible. One of the best drummers i've ever seen!

Toujours aussi kiffant à regarder jouer Mario . Une caisse claire qui a l'aire grandiose . En tout cas c'est bien vend u !
Sounds so great man.Love the snare, love him
Love the infinite sustain on those toms ;)

possibly yeah, he used Starclassic bubinga@@eliaselias4647.
@@eliaselias4647 Yes! But the maple shells sustain is also huge.
@@peteshifterIt’s not the shell that allows the sustain. It’s the bearing edge and the heads. And of course proper tuning.

The beats
The sound of the kit

I've never heard of a sound described as "matte" but damn it works!
"mat" (yep this is how we write it) in French is esquivalent to "dead" or "muted" in English.
but isn't "matte" already a French word?@@jiboo6850
Umm . I have a question. I have AC146. I am not a collector so i buy what i play. So while having ac146, should buying this makes sence ?

Can anyone explain to him what that control knob really does..? Or Tama didn't translate that correctly. Wires?

What @DavidOakesMusic said
He did say that the knob adjusted the wires, not the felt pad. Could be a translation issue - or he misspoke?
