it’s because he’s shifting his center of mass from being over his butt to over his feet. it’s using body weight and gravity to drive your feet back downward after a stroke instead of using the other side of your calf muscles
I fucking love those ghost notes, always on point and give the song a differente vibe. I'm not a drummer myself but it isn't necessary to confirm Mario is on another level.
Hassanbulat I love Chris Adler but he isn’t as good as Mario from a song writing perspective. Lamb Of God has got to become more progressive. They haven’t really done anything “innovative” since Sacrament. Wrath was just okay and the last two just aren’t metal staples to me. Tomas is for sure in the same conversation as Mario. I would love to see Chris really put together some more low/mid tempo songs that are single bass drum only but very progressive. I think we all have had enough of the constant driving double bass from Lamb of God.
I absolutely love Mario's drumming. He brings the perfect combination on playing with raw power and intensity, while at the same time playing with great speed and technicality.
Wish Mario would do a video of him playing the song Remembrance... his double bass footwork is so fricken tight playing along w the guitar riff on the outro breakdown. Mario is one of my favorite drummers on the seen.
I had the pleasure of watching them live on their first ever American tour. Hellfest like 06 trivium machine head and lamb of God.. gojira were the openers I had no clue who they were before then.. I was right in the front.. as soon as they started to play I was fuckin blown away(which they opened up with ocean planet). They immediately became my favorite band after that lol
Yup, heal up with tones of power even at fast speeds. In the early days he didnt use triggers and had to play 220 bpm, so guess thats where it comes from
2:45 - look at his big toe action on the kick pedal! This, ladies and gentlemen is how you play VERY fast double kicks! I can only do it for a few seconds with the big toes, but Mario on the other hand....lol
The ghost note mix got better later in the clip, because I bet the audio engineer had the gating set too high on the snare at first. Such passionate drumming.
dafi723 yea he does you can see his bass drums are stuffed to the max and taped like crazy on the beater side. Usually a straight give away his bass drums are triggered. The rest of his kit is acoustic though. Love this guys style one of the best drummers on the scene. His warm up procedure is ridiculous... literally plays straight dbl bass to a metronome for an hour straight non stop. He put a video of it up on his Instagram. Listen or watch them playing their song remembrance.. the outro breakdown is awesome.. tight ass footwork played to the breakdown guitar riff.
Since he is using a combination of both triggers and mics, does those tapes on his kit kick heads actually eliminate double triggering or what? Mario is damn beast.

I’m a big Mario fan but I can’t understand what the vocalist is saying. I’m admittedly old but would consider myself a heavy metal fan. I think I’m getting around to the belief that death metal is basically instrumental music and that the vocals aren’t meant to be understood but are rather just another instrument in the band. Any help would be appreciated.
The world needs more Mario Duplantier drumcams
Tomas Haake , Danny Carey , Mario Duplantier
@@lmao1537 Yeah, but more Mario too pls :3
2 years later, there are still only two Mario duplantier drumcams 😔
@@konstantindrost-ni6xd True but at least we get his drum solo vids, plus he did a podcast with craig reynolds!

God those floor toms sound so good... what a kickass drummer.
i love how he leans forward whenever he does double bass
A lot of drummers do that, I tried it and for some reason you can just go a lot faster
@@jlf6458 ya but kinda bad for the back

@@yeetfeet1878 same, leaning forward just feels off balance
One of the best metal drummers today. Needs more recognition. \M/
You are a very good drummer too ; i suscribe to your channel 1 or 2 months ago..
I agree, he is a boss
He's one of the few metal drummer I heard using ghost notes
Lille Gruber from Defeated Sanity is another one. I fucking love his drumming on Dharmata EP.
today?
I fucking love those ghost notes, always on point and give the song a differente vibe. I'm not a drummer myself but it isn't necessary to confirm Mario is on another level.
Master of ghost notes.
a good bonzo aprentice
@@soyelsata the song _global warming_ m8
Don't forget Chad Smith
Personally I think David from Old Korn has him beat on ghost notes. However Mario isnt a funk drummer yet his beats are so damn groovy
Eloy Casagrande uses them alot too
Today's best metal drummer. Hands down.
Maybe Tomas Haake or Chris Adler
Hassanbulat Games Those two also. I also fucking love Machine Head's Dave McClain

Matt Garstka? Before I discovered Gojira I thought he was the best, but him and Mario are both up there.
When I first heard Gojira live I was instantly blown away by the sharp, clear and confident sound of the drums, has this real metal flavor! Amazing!
I absolutely love Mario's drumming.
He brings the perfect combination on playing with raw power and intensity,
while at the same time playing with great speed and technicality.
Not to mention his groove on top of it. He is imo the perfect drummer
More Mario drum cams for the love of god!!!!!!
Jesus that snare sounds like a gunshot
Exactly, sounds like a pistol popping off. Metal af
cos everything is triggered.
drzitbag06 only his kick drums, don’t talk before you know the facts
There’s a Tama drum for you!
@@drzitbag06 very few drummers trigger anything more than bassdrum live, I think I've only ever seen it once in my years of going to and playing shows

They do the breakdown at the end of Love at Rock In Rio if you look that up
Jesus, that snare is tuned PERFECTLY!
Its incredible how the tempo is so fluid in their music
muscle and flexibility, he got the perfect balance
La récompense du travail fourni bravo à ce fantastique batteur Français👏
I cannot get over how precise Mario’s snare and kick work is.
That was fucking incredible, he is on another planet drumming wise
Didn't know there is a song dedicated to the island I live in lol
It’s about the giant pacific garbage patch made up of trash and pollution that’s twice the size of Texas... not kidding... it’s a real thing

There is no drummer on earth can match mario's dedication and skill in a kit.
Super Mario Duplantier bruh...thankful I stumbled onto this
Damn, people talk about perfection, this drummer is perfection
Great! please L'Enfant Sauvage drum cam!
His left hand finger technique is awesome
Absolument incroyable , il a encore progréssé dans son jeu !!!
I think this dude has the best live drum sound in metal.
He’s the best drummer on the planet at this point
He s great and has is own way to play the double bass thats is so cool
The best drummer in the world in the last 10 years...a ma zing

How did he do it ?! So difficult drum parts, he's so accurate and his timing is unbelievable love it !
Watch clockworks or bleed from MESHUGGAH please
More ! Please more
Tom Valstar next week!
i just wish i could like this more than once
Dude is such a monster
Dude's a beast! Up there with the best!
I see you everywhere. It's awesome
Metal drummers must have some decent aerobic capacity to play a whole live show
Jake Hayes he said he practices a minimum of 2 hours a day, also for stamina
The ghost note mix got better later in the clip, because I bet the audio engineer had the gating set too high on the snare at first. Such passionate drumming.
Mario is a god.
Is this a Nike ad?
God look at those ghost notes
Gotta fuckin love it man
Awesome
question, what did he hit at 2:06? and what is its purpose like what does it do?
Most likely an effect like 808 drop. Either too low to be picked up by mic or not in their mix and meant only for the crowd to hear.
He added an echo to the snare.
I am wondering, if he was using bass drum triggers?
dafi723 Almost every metal drummer these days uses triggers live just to make the playing clearer. So I'd say yes.
He does use triggers but not to cheat. Triggers are normally used because they simply provide a better sound than mics.
he uses them for a more crisp sound
Mostly he uses them to make both bass drums sound more or less the same and for his bass drumming not to lose dynamics.
dafi723 yea he does you can see his bass drums are stuffed to the max and taped like crazy on the beater side. Usually a straight give away his bass drums are triggered. Since he is using a combination of both triggers and mics, does those tapes on his kit kick heads actually eliminate double triggering or what? Mario is damn beast.
So do they write songs around his drums? They must right? There is no other way
Keanu Reeves killin' it on drums too!
jaja yeah
In my opinion he looks more like kylo ren
Does he actually trigger the playback stuff with the left drumpad? That'd be so cool
The Picasos of sound
Legends don’t wear shirts, they wear a wire taped to their backs
Could you imagine what the notes look like on the drum music sheet for this....my god🤤🤘🤘🤘🤘
anybody know what shoes he uses im confused
First none drummer commenting LOL. But of course thumbs up. Amazing
Mooooooore please !
can someone shed light as to the squares he has on the kick head? is that just a swatch of old head cut out?
tragic the audio picks up none of those ghost notes on his snare.
Wow
Mario Duplantier, is he even human ?
At fucking last ! Mario on action with cameras in him !
what is the deal with the squares on his kicks?
Seem's like for damping the drumheads
Hes pretty good but can he play Back in Black ?
Hands down God. Made man!! Then on 8th day created Mario..
I came, I died, I came again
