Surely, the most underrated TV series of all time. The whole ensemble were terrific, but the acting performances by Clayne Crawford, Aden Young and Abigail Spencer are truly unforgettable. Clayne's close scenes with Big Ted and Tawny display his phenomenal understanding of the Teddy character, which in many ways was as important to the success of the series as the central, Aden Young, character. I found myself weeping with Teddy when the gestalt closed in those heart breaking scenes. Bruce McKinnon, who played Big Ted, shows how powerful, wordless expression can be employed in displaying profound hurt and disappointment. Aden Young was astonishing in conveying the deeply wounded central character - a man on death row for 20 years, stripped of his humanity, abused and reviled for a crime he didn't commit. Although the State didn't proceed with his execution, the effect was the same. The family unity constructed upon a solidarity built upon that seminal moment painfully dissolves over the four seasons. It's a rumination on time, and like Proust, Daniel might have observed in the end: “I felt myself still reliving a past which was no longer anything more than the history of another person”.
Probably the greatest drama of all time, in my opinion. Gets extraordinary reviews but not enough viewers. 150,000 average or something? Whereas a piece of trash like Game of Thrones gets 7,500,000 average. If a show doesn't have enough sex, nudity and violence in it it just fades away. Such a shame.
Johnny Felcher Rectify is brilliant. So is Game of Thrones. Its clear youve never seen an episode of it and if you have your inept brain was so selective you couldnt see why it gets rave reviews
I thought the first 3 seasons were OK. It's never been good, though. I can tell by your username that you're just a butthurt Game of Thrones fan, so your opinion doesn't really count. Keep on following the crowd, you sheep.
Johnny Felcher I read the books before the show came out. On a technical level, GOT is the best show ever made and that cant be disputed. Writing wise, its well above average. Some of the themes and narrative devices have never been used in tele until GOT came out. But nice Ad hom
Johnny Felcher The shows you listed are all better, but not when it comes to the technical level of filmmaking. GOT has far superior production design, sound, editing, cinematography
Ser Podrick Payne while GoT is a beautiful show (visually) the show without the amazing Special effects would not be as good. The shows that Felcher listed all had better acting and storytelling
Winning Emmys is one thing but they don't hand out Peabody Awards to just anybody. Those are given for excellence. The entire four season series is enthralling, moving and profoundly dramatic. Everyone plays their part with honesty and fearlessly. A rich and deeply moving script by McKinnon. Brilliant!

How is this the only series that makes me cry at least once EVERY SINGLE EPISODE?

1st season was the best by far. Most of the 2nd and 3rd season focused on the wrong things in my opinion.
This show is the weirdest shit I ever watched
