It's not about how productive or hard working you are it's about controlling all aspects of your life. And if you decide to not be part of the system all kinds of punishment. It's a game.

You're right about big bro. It's more than working from home, they want you location dependent.
I left the US 5 years ago and moved to Asia. It's easier to see that basically everything most people know as truth is propaganda while observing it from afar.
I already knew most of it and I was still surprised how messed up we are from what is normal human behavior in countries that are less controlled.
Especially with male/female relationships. I asked my first date, "Where do you want to go to eat?" and she screamed at me, "THAT'S FOR THE MAN TO DECIDE!"

I think I have a prety good perspective on this topic as someone who typically gets to work from home 1-2 days a week on average - I administrate industry specific systems and man a service desk, my job is not front facing and can be performed ENTIRELY from home. If this was the case, I would get to save £3.50 every day on travel + £5 I spend on lunch and most importantly, I would get a guaranteed lie in every morning instead of having to get up 3 hours before work. I cannot stress enough how much weight is lifted off my shoulders every Wednesday morning, knowing I dont need to partake in the crazed morning rush hour, having to jam myself into a packed bus like a sardine. The recovery I get from the mid week WFH day is inexplicable, it is a godsend.

I agree with you that there are so many good reasons as to why we should do remote work. 100% agree with your logic. However, maybe you should try to research and follow the money as to why they want people to come back now. It's not only about the trust but it is also about the revenue that they are losing from all those commercial buildings. You need to think about who will loose money the most if most people do remote work and you will know why now remote work is not good enough anymore. It is all about the money.

Working from home basically has two groups of workers. Professionals who are paid decent to high wages and others whose pay is low to very low. Telus International is basically the biggest international employer for the low to very low wages. This company is the subsidiary of Telus. Most of the work is related to search results and AI ghost work from Apple and Google. I do the latter. While I like the pros of the “job” it’s not good long term and sticks most people in a rut. Also I have dealt with remote HR workers trying to get a decent job. To be honest the impression I got from them is it’s makes them slack. Had one who didn’t turn on there camera and sounded like he just woke up, this guy was definitely highly paid. I also had a women who wasn’t prepared and quickly removed clothing that was hanging about. The reality is working from home in many cases makes you slack, you can also be easily distracted by things in your home. There is plenty of other examples out there of people who think they can do whatever, much of its related to having the camera off. With big corporations the need to be looking over ones shoulder seems to be a need. But there is also the owners interests in expensive corporate real estate.

The vast majority of jobs are not a one man show, but rather it’s a collective effort to provide a product or service to the customers. This means collaboration is key, and there is no way collaboration is equal when you work from home versus being in the office. It makes 100% sense to sit and talk with each other in work, and no it’s not the same over digital means of communication.
I do not allow my employees to work from home. Not because I don’t trust them, but because we are in a hyper competitive environment, and if we can squeeze out 5-10% more productivity with office work, then that’s what we will do. Of course if someone some time need to WFH due to some doctors appointments or similar, I will grant that.
Aslo: if your job can be done 100% remote, then you can bet your Ass the job will be outsourced to low wage country.
Lastly: I would not recommend anyone working from home. Social skill is a muscle that needs to be maintained. To be a WFH shut in is the last thing I would recommend

Productivity numbers tanked people working for more then one company from home and destroying businesses. Where I work we had people working from home and they destroyed our centers. We the administrative staff had to go into those centers and fix them because of lazy work from home employees.
