It's interesting that both Oldman and Deakins, who worked together on "Sid and Nancy" very early in their career, won their long-overdue Oscar together after 32 years

This is how special "The Darkest Hour" It wasnt acting. Gary Oldman was Winston Churchill. If there is anyone who hasnt seen it. You should!!! A magical performance!!
I am shocked that this was just his second nomination, his curriculum is amazing. He should have won many years ago but I'm happy he finally got it, most deserved!
No matter how large or small the role is, Gary Oldman always makes it memorable. His portrayal of Churchill ranks right up there with DDL's portrayal of Lincoln. The Civil War and WWII might have turned out very differently without Lincoln and Churchill and it was only fitting that these two dynamic actors portrayed them so honestly and beautifully.
The most well deserved win of the night! Congratulations Gary! My favorite performance of the year BY FAR!!! And yes, I saw all 20 acting nominees this year.
I know it sounds cliche but I think people forget that just being nominated for an Oscar IS an honor in itself. Particularly for someone as young as Timothee Chalamet, that is such a huge deal.
Gary Oldmans portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour was absolutely superb, a brilliant character actor, and a thoroughly lovely man, and his playing of Oswald in JFK, was just as good proving how adaptable he is !! Superb stuff !! We love you Gary !!

Come on. Oldman should have won an Oscar for every performance he's ever done. From Sid and Nancy to True Romance to Dracula and Romeo is Bleeding( to name a few). He's a true Master of the Art.
His speech is as good as Winston! He finally won this prize after having "Full of blood, toil, tears, and sweat"! This is the finest hour for him, not darket hour. Congratulations, Mr. Oldman!!
Gary Oldman deserved this Oscar. He has consistently performed with excellence in so many diverse films. He was flawless as “George Smiley” in a great interpretation of the John LeCarre classic novel “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.” He could have won the Academy Award for that work or so many other film performances, and thank goodness that his place in the sun finally arrived. Gary oldman is my favorite
Oldman commit a crime at the end of his motherfucking life becoz Churchill is a bastard, mass murderer.... glorifying him hell is waiting
The queen gives the oscar to her first prime minister
Exactly my thoughts! And when he ended his speech with, "Ma put the kettle on, I'm bringing Oscar home!" It's very similar to the other woman who presented him with the Oscar Jane Fonda's speech on behalf of her father when she said, "Dad, we're coming over with the Oscar!"
Like King George giving it to Thatcher and then she gives it back to Lincoln.
Or her father's Prime Minister.
@@antoniovaldespino6650 Yes, Winston was a prime minister during the war. Then from fall 1951 onwards.
and of course I have to add this comment, my favourite actor of all time Daniel Day Lewis is announced his retirement it means he's never been act again and this is his last Oscar ceremony I just want to say thank you thank you thank you for the all great movies and all my deepest respect and love thank you legend!
He will probably act sometime again
Hopefully he will...
He has announced his retirement like 5 times so I doubt hes gone for good
Johan Gutiérrez get PTA to write a good script for him and he’s there
I will never forget his performance in darkest hour till my last breath.
This kind of artists are made once in a blue moon and they never leaves the universe, they continue to be there. Gar Oldman has always been my favorite actor and he is simply greatest of all.
Mine, too.
Love him...he should have won Oscar's for every role he played...amazing and truly an artist
One of my favorites was Drexl in True Romance. Such a great small supporting role.
It was the only win of the night which I cheerished for. Gotta love that guy.
Rodrigo Silva This was my second most anticipated win behind Roger Deakins.
It's interesting that both Oldman and Deakins, who worked together on "Sid and Nancy" very early in their career, won their long-overdue Oscar together after 32 years
"Put the kettle on, I'm bringing an oscar" - bursts into tears everytime.
One of the greatest actor we've ever got.
0:37 Meryl Streep looks like the Fairy Godmother from Shrek 2. 😂
TRUEEE
PHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA
You’re so right
Ahahhahaha
Oh DAMN!!!! 😂😂 Holy miss Molley got me a live one😂😂
Regulus Black in the back at the beginning be like: 👁👄👁
AHADFFDFRY I LOVE FINDING OTHER MARAUDERS FANS. I LOVE IT
WOLFSTAR stan?
@@lbncstll7415 me!!!
His brother won😂😂😂
I'm so influenced by Gary Oldman acting. He is a living legend!
I'm so glad one of the greatest actors of all time finally got his due recognition. Granted, he may have given better performances in other films, but I can't deny that this was a deserving performance in its own right.
Amazing he is such a humble good hearted human yet can play these remarkable larger than life figures and evil villains. He’s such a phenomenal actor.
“Put the kettle on, I’m bringing Oscar home”
Referencing his mum right at the end. Absolutely brilliant.
An absolute class act. He should've won a long time ago. One of the all time greats.
As amazing as the great Daniel Day-Lewis was in Phantom Thread, it was definitely Gary Oldman’s turn to win.
Love his British accent, he's one of my very favourite actors!
This is probably the first time that I hear him speaking with his original British accent.
I've never heard his real accent until now. Sometimes I forget he's British. Of course he deserved the Oscar for his role as Churchill.
Lovely humble speech. Gary is one of my favourite actors for such a long long time.
this is one of the many oscar moments that had me in tears. gary is one of my favorite actors of all time and getting to see this happen was just amazing. 100% deserved, crossing my fingers gary gets nominated once again for mank!!
It was so great to see the ultra talented Gary Oldman finally win this well-deserved Best Actor Oscar for his work in "The Darkest Hour." (2017). Such a talented and articulate man.
He is in a tier of actors who never needed awards to show his qualities. The award changes nothing for me. One of my all time favourite actors.
The most well deserved win of the night! Congratulations Gary! My favorite performance of the year BY FAR!!! And yes, I saw all 20 acting nominees this year.
I know it sounds cliche but I think people forget that just being nominated for an Oscar IS an honor in itself. It's not always about who wins.... everyone who was nominated is being recognized for turning in a fantastic performance. Particularly for someone as young as Timothee Chalamet, that is such a huge deal.
trueness. even actors who had performed in so many years also had never been nominated
I've seen this so many times and it never gets old.
He should have several of these by now. Such an artist.
So damn well deserved he kills every role he has played.
I truly can’t believe this is his only Oscar, and only his second nomination. I’m still in love with him as Dracula!
I heard him say in an interview that his mother always hoped and said that he would win an Oscar. She held on until he won it and died shortly after.
Gary Oldman is a living legend and he 100% deserves this oscar but can we also not forget about how brilliant Timothee was in Call Me By Your Name!!
Living legend. His acting is beyond awe.
Happy birthday Gray Oldman. May the Peace be with u. From Harlingen Texas. March 21, 1958
March 21, 2020 through March 21, 3020
When someone gets a standing ovation know they are long overdue and respected. Gary Oldman is one of my favourite actors.
Bram Stockers Dracula..
Leon...
Immortal Beloved...
Fifth Element...
Tinker Tailor Soldier...
Darkest Hour...
Any so so many other amazing performances.
He was more Churchill then Churchill himself was
He should won a Oscar for every performance. He’s phenomenal actor
Come on. Oldman should have won an Oscar for every performance he's ever done. From Sid and Nancy to True Romance to Dracula and Romeo is Bleeding( to name a few). He's a true Master of the Art.
What a wanker he is.
His speech is as good as Winston! He finally won this prize after having "Full of blood, toil, tears, and sweat"! This is the finest hour for him, not darket hour. Congratulations, Mr. Oldman!!
The first movie I remember seeing Gary Oldman in was Immortal Beloved, another wonderful example of this brilliant actor’s work.
What a great actor, can't believe he was nominated only one other time. He is a legend
His speech is so genuine and really touching ❤
Gary Oldman deserved this Oscar. He has consistently performed with excellence in so many diverse films. He was flawless as “George Smiley” in a great interpretation of the John LeCarre classic novel “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.” He could have won the Academy Award for that work or so many other film performances, and thank goodness that his place in the sun finally arrived. If his name is in the cast, I’m at the theater. He is quality, always. 🎬❤️🎬
