Hi Justin ! Hahah, those "...people from Poland" at 13:55 in Winslow's Museum with Gordon are... us !!!! :) :D What a coincidence ! My mother stumbled upon your video, shortly after our trip. We were on the trip through a complete Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Cool video lots' of useful info from you ! Thumbs up.
HEY!!! just saw this video and my parents store is the Jack Rabbit Trading Post!!! Sorry the paint on the sign wasn't in the best shape! They just repainted it and now it looks way better. Dude love the show man! It works!
These Route66 vids are a lot cooler than I expected. I wanted to wait until the whole trip is finished before I binge them all, but I just can't stand the wait anymore. Incidentally, damnnnn that's a long road.
I remember driving by the trading post on the arizona new mexico line in sept 2022. We didnt stop unfortunately. But loved the puppies. Hopefully they all found loving homes. I am so loving all these videos!! Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you for another upload!! These are absolutely fantastic and educative and just so wonderful. I enjoy living vicariously through these!! Congratulations on the 70K subscribers! I made this comment somewhere on your IG page and realized it disappeared! I must have deleted it on accident when checking back on the notification. Oops! 21:19 : HANDMADE jewelry? PUPPIES THAT NEED HOMES? I'm going. I'm going!! I'm packing my bags and driving through route 66 for that special prize!
The old Red & White Bldg was part of a chain of diners. The one in Winslow,Az was actually still open when I dispatched trains from the Winslow Depot till they relocated us to Albuquerque in 1993.
I wish I could be that excited all the time. I saw a lot of this stuff when I was a kid and I was like "well that's neat...hmm" mean while Justin's like "RAGHGHGHGHHGHGHGH HUUUUUUGE!!!!!"
going from florida to california as a child, i saw those wigwams & tried to get my family to stay there--it was a no go....lol....ty so much for the video!!!
I am so enjoying this trip down Rt 66 = grew up hearing about it - have thought how fun it would have been to traveled it back in the day when it was so active but have thought in passing how even now I'd love to go and find the things that are left behind - not sure that will ever happen so living it thru you - Thanks-after this trip I will go back and watch some of your other vlogs from years passed = want to see the things you are showing for the first time during this trip - then I will revisit in those vlogs
Fun Fact. In the early fifties, Kirk Douglas starred in a film noir picture called Ace in the Hole which I believe was shot at the Chief Yellowknife Trading Post.
This was Awesome! That's all I can say. I figure you're already past New Mexico. I can't wait to see what's ahead Justin. I wonder if you discovered anything interesting in Santa Fe, if you came up this way......The Adventures continue........
I'm betting you didn't have to pay 10 cents for that "sack" too! PS, you are a great vlog historian. I noticed that Jimberly has some cousins in Winslow too!
Awww I just got a puppy otherwise I'd be right there to adopt one!!! Hmm...maybe I could show this vid to my parents and persuade them that my puppy needs a sister 😏😁🐶 Ugh but I'm still upset that I missed you when you went thru ABQ! Oh well, hope I get to see you on your way back to Cali :)
If you know where Webster Ave. is in Anaheim, the apartment complex at 918 is where our farm was, when I was a kid. I heard you say you live between Knott's and Disneyland. Webster is just about 1/2 way between the two parks.
Lol! My grandparents picked up petrified wood from there, and I have it in my china cabinet. The story is that grandpa bent over to tie his boot, and slid a few chunks in there.
Great video! Loved the puppies at the end especially! Question, have you considered putting cards on your videos to link back to your older ones you refer to?
A little info on other words for "bags" or sacks as you heard. My grandma called them "pokes". I'm sure it is an old southern slang word. You don't hear it anymore.
In younger years I was told, and believed, that the jackrabbit place was a "house of ill repute". Many of that signs showed the rabbit and said "Winslow for men". Turned out is was a men's shop.
Fun video, and for the most part the history is accurate. Minor clarification on Two Guns: the confrontation between Indian Miller and Earl Cundiff was not about land. Cundiff had discovered that his wife Louise was having an affair with Miller's business partner, Joe Sekakuku, and confronted Miller about it in Sekakuku's absence at Miller's dwelling. It was Cundiff who grabbed Miller's pistol from a table and fired the first shot, punching a hole through Miller's shirt. In the ensuing scuffle, Miller ended up with the gun and shot Cundiff. Miller was acquitted at trial. He only defaced Cundiff's headstone after Cundiff supporters vandalized Miller's billboards.
Believe It or Not! As a young child, I traveled with my parents on Route 66. In those days -- the early 1950s -- visitors to the "Petrified Forest," were ALLOWED to remove to remove small samples of petrified wood. The rules then..... visitors were allowed to take as many petrified wood samples they could hold in ONE HAND. (Glad that rule changed.)
Just a thought. Make sure u got an extra pair of keys to the car in your pocket. Man it would suck to get locked out of your car by yourself with no cell phone service out in the middle of the desert. You might have to Clark Griswold back to town.

The "little ditty" you sang at the beginning really takes me back lol. Monty Python?

Oh my gosh the ending! They're so fluffy I'm gonna die!
Take the Cypress offramp in Redding, CA, go West 1 block and there is an OPEN Lumberjack restaurant.
A little info on other words for "bags" or sacks as you heard. My grandma called them "pokes". I'm sure it is an old southern slang word. You don't hear it anymore.
Take It Easy was mainly Jackson Browne, Justin! lol
If I ever go to Holbrook, I want to stay in these wigwams.
That's Louie the lumberjack!!!!
In younger years I was told, and believed, that the jackrabbit place was a "house of ill repute". Many of that signs showed the rabbit and said "Winslow for men". Turned out is was a men's shop.

Bonus points for starting out the vlog with a Monty Python song!
Great 👍 video

Dude, I can't believe you bought gas in Winona, the most expensive station in Arizona!
I've lived in Arizona my whole life, and I have no memory of ever going to Winslow. Flagstaff, yes, but not Winslow.

You were in Winslow and you didn't stop at the La Posada?
Rez puppies! Or not rez puppies, but either way, they're so cute!
We have a muffler man in my hometown!
Justin, you keep missing the meteor crater.
Navajo Wishing Well.
"I wish for a quarter."

"Oh.. wait..."
Watching this video reminded me how boring living in New Mexico was I’m at city boy now
0:07 run ahhh
A lumberjack wearing a polo shirt... Okay, so that's not something you see every day, is it?
