Being an OLD Guy Growing up in Florida I remember going to the OLD Tourist attractions . Wikiwatchi, Rainbow Springs, Silver Springs with the Glass bottom boats, and even Six Gun Territory in Ocala. Several years ago I took my Daughter and Niece and Nephew on one day trips and they had a blast. I have to admit it was a little depressing seeing them now and remembering what they were like back in the '60's and 70's. but it was still fun. Just a suggestion.

I like the idea of a series traveling across Florida on shorter trips. Perhaps you could call it "Wandering on the Wang" or "Chopping the Coast"

In all seriousness Josh, you’re the reason I loaded my MT-09 and rode across the want for the campout. Was fun loading a bike up that wasn’t designed for that purpose.

Haven’t spent much time down there, but I did camp at rainbow springs for a few nights and that was a great time/area to visit in the winter
HiJosh, looking forward to your new series. For your tent, try setting it up vertical and strap to the sissy bar. That should clear up some of the interference with the kick starter and provide a great back rest.
We went to St. Augustine a couple years ago. A lot of tourists but a lot to do. This year we went to Miami, camped in the Everglades and in the Keys.
Mayport Naval station in Jacksonville, home of the 4th fleet, is at the mouth of the St Johns river. On the other side of the river is Huguenot Campground. I have stopped a few times but have not camped there yet. Tent spots almost directly off the end of the runway. View of the 4th fleet, seals training just off the beach, and jets taking off over your head. Dont think I would want to camp there for a week, but a day or two would be interesting. There is also a ferry across the river. I take that when I am down there for the fun of it.
Ellie makes The Dirtster look like an old Honda Rebel 250.
I used this tent on my trip to the campout. It's a great all-in-one and is super easy to setup and breakdown. The sleeping pad leaves much to be desired, but it works... and it's replaceable.
I wish I could have spent more time with you at the campout, but you truly were a busy man. It was still fun hanging out with everyone else though.

Once you get your carb dialed in, it'll be "fun times a-rolling" You also might want to consider some forward foot pegs for the road, to stretch out your legs a little.
I think checking out some of the "old school" tourist attractions would be very cool.

Back in the 1990's i drove Flatbed 18 wheeler out of Port Tampa .7400 Interbay Dr .Uses to haul alot Of Sheetrock out of the Gypsum plant there at the entrance of picknic island park ..Was called Goldbond Gypsum ..I drove for a Company named " Ploof Truck lines .Ploof went bankrupt in 1999 and Cypress Truck lines bought them out ..Good ole Memories
I looked at that tent and the price was scary.
I figured I'd just use my leftover military ruck and put my tent inside. Planning on getting out in July next year, not sure how long. Depending on money and chores.
Turn that tent 90 degrees to vertical for the full backrest effect.
I rode like that on my dyna, I had 2 small duffle bags, one on each side, and a backpack stacked on a wool blanket with a yoga mat, strapped to the stock sissy bar.

Would love it if you could find an old backwoods swamp town. With a general store that has some swamp folks setting on the wooden porch , drinking cokes from an antique coke machine..telling gator stories....... Pretty specific,but I'll bet you could find something close.
Take you a trip over to Cape San Blas/Port St. Joe, one of the best experiences in the Wang in my unprofessional opinion. Good food, no people, and quiet. Right down the street from Mexico Beach, and about 40 minutes southeast of Panama City Beach.
If you do end up going out that way, hit up the Indian Pass Raw Bar, best seafood I've ever had, and then ride on down to Appalachicola and St George Island, just an absolutely gorgeous area of the world.

Just avoid jenny springs, that place is always so very busy

Yeah I was there also but only for about 2 hours. Had to go to work. Was a nice turn out.

I don't know about campgrounds, but Saint Augustine is always a fun place to visit. Or if you want to go in the complete opposite direction there's the Coral Castle in Homestead.

it's winter here in the rest of the world so it's time to fix all the things that broke during the riding season, while all the people who don't live in the frozen tundra just get to swap to a different jacket, we'll see you next year, hopefully with running choppers and less bailing wire and zip ties holding the bikes together.

@shadetreesurgeon I live in S.E. Wyoming, and only put my bike "away" for at most a couple of weeks at a time. If it isn't below zero, there isn't snow or ice on the road, I ride my '09 Ultra Classic to work. I can't NOT ride my bike!

i like all bikes except death traps. and, the chopper looks like it falls into that category. motorcycling is dangerous enough without riding sketchy machines...wish you luck.
