Back in summer 1999, I was invited by my friends to their wedding in Pontchâteau, the place where Jacques Demy was born nothing less. And a couple of monts after, I spent some weeks in Saint-Marc-sur-mer- the exact place where the Mr Hulot's vacations takes place, thanks to a friend I encountered during that wedding- I hope she's doing well BTW-, less than a hundred meters away for Jacques Tati's statue. I had never watched a single movie from him at that time, can't believe how ignorant and empty I was. My Uncle gets me every time.

I saw Mr Hulot’s Vacation, my first introduction to Andre Tati’s work. What a delight! I was so relaxed after viewing it. The slow sweetly funny film had me smiling and chuckling the entire time.
I recogniized both Peter Sellers (BEING THERE) and Rowen Atkinson (MR BEAN) characters as being inspired from Tati’s creation of Mr Hulot!

Ah, don't forget Peewee Herman. In "Peewee's Big Adventure", the start of the film is an homage to Tati's "Jour De Fete".

A wonderful compilation of TATI gems! Personally I think you could’ve used the original music from his films, it is already so witty and charming!

I am now 76 years old and I don't remember the year "Les Vacances" came out but my mother had just met a new man so I saw that film every day at the cinema for at least a week. It was a double feature with "The Yearling". They ended up in divorce anyway.

Really? With "The Yearling" with Gregory Peck and Claude Jarman Jr? I think that was 1949. Maybe a few years earlier.....

WHAT EXACTLY are those “BELL” sounding dinging sounds all throughout the back ground music of the first video?
What EXACTLY is the instrument? They used it for 50’s style lounge music.

Did Jaques Tati live long enough to see Rowan Atkinsons ' borrowing " of the bumbling mr Huliot character for his Mr Bean i wonder ?

Este cómico, junto con Charlot, fueron quienes inspiraron a Rowan Atkinson para crear el personaje de Mr. Bean.

Should include his talking to a garrulous loudspeaker and opening and closing a non-existent door with only the handle.
