- Training attempt #3 .. Pablo's training hasn't exactly flown in the past and we haven't been trying too hard with him to learn, but he's getting older and needs to be more obedient! So expect plenty more training videos or at least updates as we're going to be trying to push his learning.

We really should of started training Pablo a lot earlier but just completely sidetracked it 😅
the noises he makes when he plays is adorable :) also, i taught my beagle to give paw by hiding a treat in my hand and only giving it him when he puts his paw on my hand, they usually do this although it took a few attempts :) also clickers work a lot better as they know they have done something right as soon as they have done it with a clicker :) just some advice for you guys :)
People have mentioned clickers before! Worth giving it a go at least! :)

Impressive! It took me about 6 weeks to teach my Pug “paw”. From then on, training was easy. We would only train for about half hour a day a few times a week, once or twice. He would get bored after a while. The best way to teach pugs is by giving them different treats each time because pugs are very food motivated. It didn’t take long but keep trying!

This was a year ago but your supposed to hold a treat in your fist over his or her nose. Any slight movement forward of the paw should be rewarded. They will try to open your hand with their paw and you give them a treat. Keep going until they are able to do paw

New Model for Learning English they do that when Pablo has become too excited.. it's a kind and gentle form of discipline and training.
Hey! Do yourselves both a major favor and look up Zak George! He's a dog trainer here in the states but he's AMAZING. I've trained both of my other dogs with his videos, and Hermes is already good with sit, go to bed, stay, and knows his name! He's a great trainer that I think you'd approve of.
As for advice from me, I'd make sure he's got very, very small treats. Zak suggests (and I've followed this) that you use real, cooked chicken. Just cook up a chicken breast, shred it, and give tiny tiny little nibbles every time they do what you want. You can cook the chicken, stick it in a storage container, and only use it when you're training. It's great, and it really gets their attention.
And lastly, consistency. If you're consistent and spend 10-20 minutes a day training (even if that's only for 5 minutes at a time) you'd be amazed at how much it helps them learn. I make my dogs do a round of tricks every time I feed them before they can get their food. Nothing like dinner to motivate!

I'll check it out thanks for the recommendation! We have started doing sit and paw before each meal now and will continue to do so for every new trick we teach him 👍🏻

He did get rounder, lol! I've been thinking getting into some training for mine too. I've got sit, Foot paw 🐾 and now to lay down sleep play dead and roll over. Chasing and agility jumping up and over my legs.
Do dogs like treats
Human view of teaching: quickly teach. Pug view of learning: go slow so you get more treats. You will now also get bopped by his paw when he wants something. They are really very clever !
You should give him a treat when he sits because you need to make him realize that every time he does a good thing he gets a treat (which doesn’t happen)
It also is the case of him getting over excited and being able to get still and in control and you were able to stabilize him after dancing with the pup.
I know a pug that looks like Pablo and he has the exact same amount of interest in the paw process....

We're gonna try teach Pablo to lay down next! He hates being on his back so probably won't ever learn roll over :(

I had no issues teaching my shihtzu tricks. But my pug i’m still struggling with the sit command. He’ll do it after i ask 15 times but all i see is that he knows to sit when i bring the treats out.

Same thing happened to me as well while teaching Coco to say "Hello".
We have a 16 week old pug and when we give her a treat she tends to be quite nippy. Any advice as to how we can train her to take it nicely?

Loved watching was wondering if dogs have a dominant paw like people are either right handed or left handed . Have you tried alternating paws to see if Pablo may prefer raising his other paw ??? Keep vlogging we keep watching ❤️ to you all !
I'm not sure! We'll have to test it out! I was just using my right hand because I'm right handed but I never thought about he might have a dominate foot 🤔

Love this. I am good at paw, Sanka however not so good as he doesn't like his feet being touched! I can also do the up trick, and lie down and stay! I will try get a video uploaded shortly of it :D

Yes of course! I will try get a good video of Enkei doing some tricks this week, although we are moving house so at the moment time is limited as you could imagine!
Dog is the best thank
I noticed sometimes you use 2 words in giving commands. For example you said ... sit down ... when saying ... sit ... is more simple for the dog to understand. Also, the word ... down ... is a useful command by itself. This has worked for me. Very occasionally I use a 2 word command. Good luck. Pablo seems like a sharp cookie. 🙂
We do only use the 1 word now from peoples previous comments, we're still learning ourselves at the time 😊 We normally just use 2 words because it makes sense to us, so he sits on the command 'sit' but we throw a 'down' in because thats just how we'd say it 😅

Ah so he gets a small dinner if he gets snacks. I'm gonna get my 1st Pug soon as I can. They are a little hard to find that don't cost a shit ton of money. Anyhow, I don't want my Pug to get fat. I'm a bit worried about that because I won't be able to walk him much or get him outdoor excersize in the summer. I live in Texas and stays about 98-100+ degrees for 2-3 months straight and Pugs don't do well in extreme heat. In the evening is when he'll go for a walk.

My dog Ruby (who’s part pug and part shih tzu) is exactly like Pablo when learning to do paw 😂 she still can’t do paw and is almost 3 😂 she just looks at me like I’m daft and if I try and lift her paw she just licks my hand or moves away cos she hates getting her paws touched. We might need more treats...😂

Roberta Jane Nickell Tenma#1 it was really easy actually, I just had some treats and I'd say paw and I'd lift his paw as I said it then give him the treat and praise him and did that for like 10 mins and he just got it and gave his paw when I held my hand out cuz he knew that if he lifted his paw he would get the treat, u know. It's no different teaching a young dog than an old dog

Pablo does 3-4 a day and it's just when we let him out at his meal times and before bed :)
You could try tickle his pad and see if he lifs his paw up then give him a treat

I haven't trained my pug yet because he is 7 months old but I am trying to teach him fetch but when he will be 1 year old I will teach him paw,lay down, sit and other things but currently he knows sit but only when I show him his treat and he starts to fight if someone takes his treat and doesn't give to him.I have to teach him everything right now.Wish me luck cuz the training session will start after 5 months when he is 1 year old.His name is Leo.He is a male.I call him Leonardo DiCaprio Trump(Funny name though).

How did you potty train him?
We had the first 2 months off with him, we just threw him outside to wee or poop and rewarded it with treats and got a telling off in the house, they quickly pick it up

He is indeed! We got him in summer and just left the door open, gave him treats for doing it outside and told off for doing it inside, he soon learned!
