In this game almost all the "I wish I could.." are actually possible. Move an entire stack? Yup, Shift+click. Move everything of the same sort? Sure, Ctrl+click. Can I copy and paste machine settings from one machine to another? Yes, CTRL+C and CTRL+V. Can I tame some animals? Snap buildings to a grid? Have more than one hotbar? Yes, all of the above. Just keep on exploring and you will surely be amazed. Already looking forward to episode 3.

Im just at the beginning of the video. So maybe u use it later. But really useful is that u can switch build modes on various building. It's really a pain to put 25 ground plates besides each other one by one. There is a build mode where u can draw lines. And u can build 10 at once. And so on. I think the default key is R. Just hold R while building.
And C is good one also. It snappes the building on the next and line up

Haha! I'm gonna subscribe just so I can witness this journey of discovery. Warms my heart to see someone walk this well-trodden path for the first time. A word of warning, though. This is a game about scale. I guarantee you that there will come two separate moments: One where you look at the inside of a container that's filled to the brim with concrete and think to yourself "wow, I won't need to worry about concrete ever again!" simply because you don't need to use such a titanic amount of concrete, and another where you'll eat through that entire container's worth of concrete just laying down huge floors and walls in little more than 5 minutes, then go back to that container and think "Shit, I should do something else while I wait for it to fill up again..."
Whatever you're doing, there will come a time where you'll want to do that exact same thing on a MUCH bigger scale. To give you an idea of how much scale comes into play, here are the transfer speeds of the various conveyor belts:
    Mk1: 60 items/min
    Mk2: 120 items/min
    Mk3: 270 items/min
    mk4: 480 items/min
    mk5: 780 items/min
This alone should give you a pretty decent idea of the kind of ride Satisfactory is. Trust me when I say that there can and will be times where you spend time the length of this video just laying down and hooking up rows of a single type of machine to make a single product. Then you get access to blueprints which enables you to do the same thing even FASTER.
But right now? Take your time. Learn how things work. Goof around. Make mistakes. Make a mess. And when you've learned enough about the game that you look back on what you've made and think to yourself "Man, I wish I had done all this differently," that's when you make a new game. Make new mistakes. Make new messes. But better mistakes and better messes, all of which you learn from! New game, plan ahead, scale up, use decoration and bring life to your factories - NOTHING can stop you from making a work of art. *Your* work of art.
You'll look back upon the landscape, buildings rising above the foliage, trains humming along between them. Every mistake, every success, every tweaked and micromanaged decision. There will be no mystery to it. Not to you. You will know how all of it works, how all of it came together, and how much effort it took to make it that way. Others might look at it in wonder, but you... you will *know.*
This is the beauty of Satisfactory.

When I looked back and said, I can do better than that... I just move to a new area and build there. I didn't bother restarting the game. Just jump to a richer resource region, and go for it with better planning ahead. You've got lots of basic stuff back at your first base you can rely on. And when you like your new area better, just dismantle and move your HUB to the new place. 🙂

  • @devrossik
    @devrossik Год назад +4

Nice start to the game! I will second @Sephyricon's advice with some of my own. At a few points in the video, you said something like, "I guess I can't do this." It's best not to assume you can't do something until you have actually attempted it, and attempted it several different ways to potentially discover the "right" way.
Here is an example: When you first tried the Craft Bench, you found that clicking the Craft button didn't craft the item. Then you discovered that you can press space to start crafting. You next thought that pressing space is the only way to craft. Actually, you *can* do it by clicking, but you must click *and hold* the button, and it will stop when you let go.
So, if click doesn't work, try click and hold. If that doesn't work, try click and drag. Keep on trying stuff until you find the way to do it. Also very important: If you are trying to do something, and it isn't working, carefully read any messages on the screen. They might tell you exactly why it isn't working.
Final advice: Don't try to rush this game. There is a lot to learn, and a lot to do, and you should try to automate everything as soon as you possible can. To achieve that, you must patiently learn and integrate each new technique into your process.

    • @nerdenoughfortwo

Very good advice! Holy cow, thank you! I love the way you worded it and even showed an example where I can improve. Man, I'll have to take notes on this one, thank you! It makes me excited to play more!

Hah... going to have fun watching you learn your way through this coming from minecraft. This game is pure factory/automation with some exploration fun, minor creatures for now (Avoid caves and dark cliffs for now...) and enough to keep you wanting more for a good long while. Got over 1,500 hours myself into the game.
    So tips without spoilers....
Take time to look around your HUD. There are shortcut keys on the bottom right. The top right shows what you're next "goal" is you have selected to help keep count. Never under estimate the hints in the middle of the HUD as you are selecting, building, and taking any actions. That "check list" on the right is tricky, but great for planning buildings and keeping count of the resource you need to build them.
There are SO many little tweaks and features that the hints and tutorial cannot tell you everything. They tell you just enough. You can Jump, but you can also Crouch, and Crouch while running to slide... then while running, crouch then jump for a "super" jump. Be careful. 🙂 You found [Shift-Click] you'll see Ctrl-Click, and Right click... you also have scrolling the mouse wheel for selecting active inventory "hand" items available, and I think "H" holsters what you're carrying. Good for taking screen shots while "standing" still. You have a hot bar at the bottom you can "add" things to for keys 1 through 0... and with [Alt-Mouse Wheel] you can select 1 of 10 different hot bars for later in the game. :-) Hover over things in the Q and O dialogs for more "hints" about the items you're looking at.
That "N" dialog window is like a universal search window for the Codex, and also will perform simple and complex Math calculations you might want later.
You'll also see when in a machine/dialog the "relevant" items currently in you inventory are shown larger above your inventory frame for easy selecting into a machine/dialog because your base inventory will get very cluttered.
Give yourself space when building and once you get a steady source of resources flowing into containers, you can start learn and plan organizing "floors" of factory buildings nearby to automate in mass. Still give yourself space on floors there too. 🙂
Q: Do they run out of resources? A: No, they do not. * (don't worry, just assume they all do not.)
Q: Impure vs normal vs pure resource nodes? A: is Related to resources you can mine per minute with a miner. You'll see once you start into fuller automation.

tips: you don't need concrete to connect the power to only a single smelter. It was only saying that because you were aimed at the ground. It thought you were trying to create a power pole. try to connect the power line directly to the smelter. It will work. later, when you want to add more automation buildings, you'll need power poles to split the power.

"This game is getting complicated" is a phrase you're going to cringe over when thinking back while you're automating the production of 100+ supercomputers per minute ;-)
I bought this game immediately after seeing Markiplier's videos with Bob and Wade. I don't have many friends who like to play these games, but Satisfactory single player turned out to be a really chill game to play by myself. No massive pressure from the game itself to advance since there's no story line (yet), other than my own motivation to progress through the tech tree and that's just the way I like it. It's one of my primary attractions in Minecraft as well. There's no wrong way to play the game!

You can run a power line directly from the smelter to the biomass burner, you just need to orientate the buildings so the power attachment points are within view of each other. You don't need power poles until you need power further away. Like when you get the mark 1 miner on those nodes and need to run power to it.

Loving the gameplay so far, just discovered your channel with this series. Also you seemed to wonder what the purity (Impure, Normal, Pure) on the resource nodes meant. Basically the amount of raw materials you can get from those is infinite, but the speed at which you gather those varies depending on the purity. For example, the portable miner will mine 40 items/min on an impure node, 60/min on a normal node, and 80/min on a pure node. This will apply to the next technologies you'll unlock but slightly different. Just remember that pure produces more than normal and normal produces more than impure. Anyway I really like the way you play and am waiting for the next episode. (also, you just earned a new sub !)
