    I am going to share this video with a few people. I have friends who have watched my hair flourish and then feel discouraged with their own journey. I do more trouble shooting and encouraging ones to educate on their particular needs because my products and methods have changed. The mindset and desire must be there as well as consistency. Wonderful video. I am looking to continue to retain length and increase scalp health.

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 🤗 Yeah, educating ourselves and learning to understand our hair is the key to navigating through this journey, as well as getting results, which isn’t always easy at times. I noticed my hair likes a mixture of change and routine. So I wash my hair every 2 weeks consistently. But when it needs something else I just add whatever it needs. For example trimming as I see fit, extra moisture on the ends, to much moisture, dry scalp oil it when it needs. I have also just started taking biotin I am hoping the biotin will speed up my growth after a setback. The tracking your progress is such a good tip. Your hair is thriving! 💖

      Hi! Don't be discouraged, there will be ups and downs. Have you had your vitamins and minerals levels checked by a doctor? If you have a deficiencies in iron, vitamin d, and I heard also zinc it can cause thinning of hair and excessive hair loss. So I would go to the doctor. And also getting a good trim from a hairstylist you trust to get back on track!

      I second what @deena curls said. I had the same issue last year: my hair kept thinning and thinning even if I switch hair products…turned out I had iron deficiency. Please run a blood test with your dr, just to, at least rule out that option. Ever since getting my iron pills my hair is slowly getting thicker.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  2 года назад

      You’re very welcome! So it’s all to do with how well your hair can retain moisture once you moisturise it. So does it become dry very quickly? (High porosity) does it stay moisturised for a good few days (normal porosity) or does the moisture sit on top of your hair (low porosity). I have a few videos that go into more details here; Hair Porosity 101

    I want to do protective styles. In my four years of being natural i have not found products that have impressed me and i found most are super expensive.
    I will use old school grease with my protective styles. Shampoo and Condition every two weeks with shampoos and conditioner that is cheap. I have done it for a month now and I love it.
    The only downside is it is time consuming to change the protective style frequently but it is ok

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  2 года назад

      Yeah, it can take some people a very long time to find the right products for their hair, but once you begin to understand the characteristics of your hair and research into using the right ingredients, it can help to make the process easier. But hopefully, you find something soon enough. As for hair products, yep there’s definitely some expensive ones out there, but a fair few reasonably priced ones too such as; Aunt Jackies & AS I AM (which I love using). Re: the protective styles, it can be time consuming but once it’s done, you get to have a nice break 🙌🏾

      Your welcome! Try to keep your hair stretched as often as you can, keep the ends protected so they’re not rubbing against any clothing. You may need to detangle more frequently (if you don’t do it very often) to help prevent the strands from wrapping around each other and forming more tiny knots.
