    Your review videos are "stellar" - I knew very little about vacuuming / mopping robots until I discovered one of your videos and ultimately this channel. Previously I only had heard of Roomba's but had no idea about the sheer amount of other brands in this category. After watching your reviews and videos from others, I settled on the roborock S7 MaxV over the their newer roborock S8 model. Memorial weekend deal for $539.99 and I also opted for with additional 3 year extended warranty ($60.99) offered through Amazon, because of the 1 star reviews and malfunction complaints on pretty much all brands. Thanks for doing such an awesome job on vacuum robots; it saved me a ton of time conducting my own research. Keep it going...

    Update to my previous note. I did update to the Roborock S7 ultra and so glad I did. This was based on the DreameBOT L10s being too new, no data on the company, no reviews from users, no info on customer support. Even if the robot tests great, these other things matter to me. Roborock has frequent updating with new features, superior customer service, navigation to beat everyone else and I was familiar with the company because of owning the S6 Max V. The S6 robot is being sent to my daughter in another state. And have you seen the Robot kiss? If you have more than 1 robot you can go to the Ultra Settings: Pin n Go and click on the heart in the upper right. There is a hilarious paragraph explaining "the Cupid Mode". When the ultra sees another robot it comes up like a lost lover, bumps it and gives it a big kiss (with sound). Funniest thing I have ever seen!

    Great review! I went with the S7 MaxV Ultra a month ago and love how much it can do. The app is flawless, navigation is perfect, and it was easy to get into a routine to avoid odors in the rinse water and mop. I choose to vacuum the house first, without the mop head attached. If you have wooden floors, low pile carpet and have throw rugs on top of the carpet (as we do in our family room), it navigates the different levels easily. I then mop the whole house after adding the mop head, empty the rinse water, and toss the mop in the washer. Since most of the house is wooden floors, it does a beautiful job. There are several other good choices out there, as you have shown, and it all depends on your needs and your budget. And, by the way, you have the MOST pleasant speaking voice ever.

    Thanks so much, Jamie, for getting this video out so fast! Just in time for Black Friday! I have Roborock S6 Max V which works like a charm, but have my heart set on the S7 ultra. At 85 years old, I need all the help I can get! For many years I had iRobot machines (with multiple problems) and was amazed when I got the Roborock S6. The navigation is totally amazing - not missing a spot and never getting lost. I love your comparison video and have decided to stick with Roborock and upgrade to S7 ultra - but wonder if the company has a program to return the current model and receive some type of credit toward the new model? If not, where do you offer your prior model for sale? J Cappola

    Thanks for the video, I’ve been between the ecovacs and roborock for a couple months but decided to pull the trigger on the Dreame due to the Black Friday sale. I like the spinning raising mops which I with ecovacs had and the look of the dock over the huge roborock dock. Hopefully they can fix some of the problem obstacle avoidance issues with firmware.

    Hi Jamie, great comparisons. Well packed and straight to the point. One point you've missed is the convenience of removing the mop plate in order to remove the mop cloth for changing or washing it in the laundry without having to remove the robot from the dock or flip it over, since the robot docking itself with its rear facing outward.
    Some people but not me also concern about this due to privacy matter, because the camera facing outward and exposed at all times.
    Indeed Roborock's dock design isn't as sleek as the other two, it looks like a printer with all the ink catridges.
    For the dock design I'll give it to Dreame, hands down. It isn't as wide as the other two and just as sleek and neat as the Ecovacs' one, they are easily to wipe clean from dust compared to Roborock's as they have flat surfaces on each sides of their docks.

      @jamie.andrews  Год назад +1

      Not really. Some channels test this, but honestly their tests are in a lab and do not really represent all the different shapes and aspects of the thresholds. Robots all have fairly common ground clearance since they need to be close to the flor for the vacuum to be effective. Buying a robot like Roborock that can navigate well around your home might be your best chance since it will attempt over and over to get past it in the most effective way.

    Great review however, from someone who has one of these, take note that the mopping feature is great if you only have one floor to do. Since the robot goes back to its station to clean the mop and then continue its session (I think it does this after 15min) you will not be able to do that on another floor unless you have another station. So basically you have to bring the robot back to the floor where you have the station for it to clean the mops. Then you have to get the robot to exit the station and bring it back to the floor it was on and resume cleaning. Only problem is it wont remember where it was so it will do areas it already did. It’s not like when the there is a low battery and it goes to charge and then resume where it left off. Something to consider.

    I read that when the L10s runs out of water in the robot's internal container, it will not go to the base to refill it, but will continue to "mop". The robot does not have a float sensor and if I do not adjust its configuration well and, for example, exceed about 25 meters in a wet configuration, the robot will probably run out of water, it will continue to mop without water (i.e. not mop), and this is not good. Does the Roborock S7 Max Ultra also have this, i.e. that it does not go alone to fill the water when it runs out? Do you know any robot that knows it's out of water and will come back to refill it?

    The Ecovacs will not autonomously switch between vacuuming and moping, it takes human interaction to remove/add the mop pads. Is this the does for the BreamBOT? Disappointed this wasn‘t talked about in the comparison.
    The Ecovacs not cleaning the mop well enough is a dealbreaker for those who plan to mop routinely.

      @jamie.andrews  Год назад +2

      Thanks, I attempted to point out potential deal breakers, but what might be a deal breaker for some may not be for other people. It is pretty subjective.
      I scored the Ecovacs X1 OMNI in 3rd place in the Hardware category 01:28 and mentioned it was in 3rd place because it does not have the lifting mopping pad system, but you are right one extra thing that makes it bad is you have to remove the mopping pads before you vacuum. You do not have to remove the mopping pads for the DreameBOT.
      I think you meant the DreameBOT not cleaning the mopping pads would be a deal breaker for some. This is why it scored at 08:02 the DreameBOT in 3rd place is because it did not do well cleaning the mopping pads. To be a bit fair here not of them will clean them each and every time perfectly. Occasionally you will need to remove and hand wash each mopping pads by hand. The docks do not have a way to ring out the old dirty water which is important.
      Once final note there are more in-depth reviews for each robot where I go into full pros and cons for each. The links are in the description.

    Hey Jamie do you think the roborock is better than the ecovacs even though I would have to remove the mops on both because my carpets are too high? I noticed the ecovacs is much quieter vs the roborock in their max modes and the object avoidance seems to be a little better on the ecovacs especially with stretched out cables which I wish the roborock did better with.
    Plus I think the ecovacs looks a lot nicer aesthetically speaking.
    Is the roborock still a lot better in your opinion with high pile carpets assuming they're about the same price?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Год назад +1

      Hey Travis!
      The bonus with the Roborock is you can vacuum carpet with the dry mop attached and then mop and vacuum your floors which allows you to keep the pad on the robot at all times. Unfortunately, on the Ecovacs you must remove the pads to vacuum on carpet. There is really no way around that since they don't lift at all you can't cross carpet with them unless they are wet.
      Object avoidance is a bit better on Ecovacs.
      Mopping performance on Roborock is better.
      Looks is really subjective. Heck most of this stuff I talk about is subjective.
      Keep me posted as to what you do and if you need more help just reply.

      @@jamie.andrews thanks for the reply!
      So my carpet is too high for the roborock so for either model I'm going to have to remove the mops to vacuum my carpets so that's not a deciding factor for me.
      I have noticed that the ecovacs app and navigation is buggier than the roborock but just as you stated the ecovacs avoids cables which is really nice for me.
      I like both and it's a tough decision as I like both but being that the mop has to be removed on both for me would you still recommend the roborock over the ecovacs?
      I thought about trying the dreametech as well but it turned me off about the mop pad center not being totally cleaned.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Год назад +1

      @Travis May I am not sure if I understand why you would need to remove the mopping pad on the Roborock with thick carpet? It can drag a dry pad over thick carpet which is what I do on my thick carpets. I have your same issue btw and I always leave my Roborock and Dreame L10S pads on. You can choose vaccum only with the L10s and the S7 and the pads stay dry. You only get vacuum only mode on the X10 when you physically remove the pads.
      The Ecovacs navigation is buggy at times, but I am not sure I would consider it a deal breaker.
      I continue to use the Roborock and the Dreame in my home. The Ecovacs has been decommissioned to allow for future robort reviews.
      I can really recommend all 3 robots and what is my favorite is not always the favorite of others so I try not to sway people one way or the other and just provide some end user experience.
      I would also not discount Dreame so fast. Sure that is a flaw with the pads, however I recommend hand washing them on all of these robots every so often.
      CES is also right around the corner, and I can tell you some awesome vacuums are hitting the market soon. Might wanna wait some if you can. The perfect one may be around the corner.

      @@jamie.andrews thanks again for the reply and thank you for reviewing these units I don't mind if you try to sway my decision as I'm sure you have more experience with these units than I do.
      While I don't mind removing the pads on the x1 omni I didn't realize that it was normal to leave the mop pad on the s7 maxv with medium to high pile carpet. I figured it wasn't sanitary to leave the mop dragging on the carpet during the vacuum cycle and not sure if I was just being weird or too anal about it. If that's what people usually do then that is a game changer. I just figured most people that left the mop on 24/7 had low pile carpets.
      I did also consider just returning and waiting to see what new products roborock and ecovacs come out with since it is getting close.

      Welcome! That is one test I do not perform. It relies entirely on the side brush and is not effective at all for carpets since the brush roller is inboard a few inches. A lot of other reviewers use a cord in a bundle when testing. They do this to make the robot look good. I don't need it to avoid bundles of cords I need it to avoid stray cords. The X1 Omni avoids it in my test so I would be suspicious about other reviewers. The firmware is up to date on the robot and is 4.3.3_1125.
      I do plan to test with the Dreame app, but I doubt it will make it avoid cords as the firmware is what controls that and not the app software. I really appreciate the info and I will definitely continue to test and keep everyone posted if it improves!

      The max v ultra with dryer is currently on sale for $2600 Au. But that’s an incredibly hard pill to swallow.
      Considering the deebot N8 are on sale 60% off - going for $400. I could have 5 of them for the price of one max V… sure - not the same features but. $2200 less.

    The Ecovac x1 Omni does have cleaning solution available it was released this week so a few days after this video came out. Also seems like you on your value comparison and dock comparison you keep forgetting the fact that the dryer on s7 max is more money. In both cases to match the others it costs more and is an attachment it should make the s7 max drop to third in those cases. Also seems that the navigation category should consider obstacle avoidance. The Ecovac likely does the patterns you don't like because of what it is seeing and avoid. The other two have avoidance issues which is why their navigation may appear more direct.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Год назад +1

      Good to know about the cleaning solution finally being released. I still wish they along with RR would include some in the box though.
      The value category is based on what you get for the money spent (MSRP.) The reason I scored the S7 MaxV is in second place is because you have to spend more than the L10s ($1399) to get cleaning solution and the dryer attachment. The reason the S7 MaxV is not third is because the Ecovacs does not have a lifting mopping system and it requires you to remove the mopping pads by hand if you only want to vacuum plus according to my calculations it does retail for more than the other 2. You see if you buy the S7 MaxV Ultra with the dock dryer module you would spend right at $1500 retail ($1399 + $99) and the retail of the Ecovacs X1 OMNI is still more at $1549.99. Neither the S7 MaxV or the X1 OMNI include cleaning solution in the box.
      Since I have a category dedicated to obstacle avoidance 05:35 I did not include it in navigation category even though they could be considered similar I kept them separate since some people disable obstacle avoidance due to privacy concerns with the cameras. This way we can only judge their ability to navigate via lidar.
      I have tested the Ecovacs with and without object avoidance enabled (I do this with all robots that have the feature) and the navigations is still a bit inefficient. None of these have horrible navigation though, but Roborock is consistently top notch.

    I bought both the X1 Omni and the S7 MaxV Ultra at launch, and have exclusively used the Roborock since receiving it. I got a refund for my X1, but didn't have to send it back so I've still got it, too lol. It sits in the corner, neglected as it deserves to be.
    The X1 mopping performance was atrocious out of the box. Got replacement plates from Ecovacs, which made it at least functional, but RR was still better.
    My other major complaint is, as you mentioned, the Ecovacs app is hot garbage. RR has always just worked.

      Yea Zack I am getting ready to decommission the X1 OMNI in my house. I turned the voice assistant off because it would randomly respond to the TV or us talking (but hardly ever when I really needed it to) and even after turning it off it appears it still listens as it will now tell me that the assistant is off and please turn it on if I want to use it. How dumb is this? The lack of lifting mopping plates is the major reason it is not going to continue to be used in my home.
      I too love the tech and am eager to see what CES has to offer this year. Have a good one Zack!

    I'd personally go with two separate units, which would run you around the same price or even less. The X1 is useless because you have to remove the pads, and I think the lifting pads are a gimmick. They both rub against the carpet. Something like the Q5 plus and the Yeedi mop station would be good. Also Dreame's are known for the motor getting stuck.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Год назад +1

      Lifting mopping pads are not perfect especially if you have thicker carpet, but they are helpful since they do not drag wet pads across already clean floors and the do clear my rugs. I mop with them and vacuum my rugs all the time with them on and my carpets do not get wet enough to be concerned. I do not do that with my carpet in my bedrooms, but I still do not have to remove the mopping pads, just make sure they are dry.
      This is the first I have heard about a motor issue with Dreame. Which motor are you referring to?

      @richardsmith1161 Год назад +1

      @@xeon2k8 Yes. I'm seriously comparing the Yeedi as a mop. I've had it for 6 months and it's been great with 4 large dogs constantly tracking dirt in. No problem with navigation. Yeedi is owned by Ecovacs, that has been around a long time. Personally I don't trust that self cleaning mop mechanism, a lot of parts to go wrong. At least if you have two units and one breaks it's a lot cheaper to replace.

    I love my roborock s7maxv ultra. I do wish it was better on carpet. Coming from a irobot s9+. The s9 was a beast on the carpet and had dirt detection. So if it thought It was dirty. It would go back and forth a few times in that spot then continue it's job. Also if the bin got full during a run. It would go to the dock and empty. Then go back to finishing up the job. The roborock doesn't do that unfortunately.
