He’s a highly talented guy who didn’t need to get that deep down the road into that shit. He’s highly lucky he got back his gig. He’ll probably screw up again. Needs serious treatment.
jemsar2 he was on a flight once with non existent closet space. He had a drum with him and needed it stored. I figured it out, rearranged a few things etc before I recognized who he was. I even asked- are you in a band or something? LOL When he said his name I about passed out. He was so appreciative and really kind to the crew. Hope he is able to get his life on track.
I played drums in a band that opened up for Bad English when they had the hit "When I see You Smile" The first night on tour, I sat behind Dean and watched him. The second night, I could barely play because of what brilliance i had seen the first night. He is amazing! He was really nice to me on tour, the few times we talked. When I got home I started shedding on what I had learned from him, and it changed my drumming for the better......that is an understatement. I got to reconnect with him when he was in Hardline, and opened up for Journey a couple times when he was with them. I can't thank him enough for the very high bar in drumming that he set, that made me a much better drummer. I wish him love, and nothing but the best. Go Dean!

I met Dean years ago when members of Journey, Stix and REO speedwagon came to watch my band at a local bar in Denver. Dean was super cool and they played a couple songs on our equipment. Dean was very complimentary, no ego at all and autographed my snare drum head. Prayers for Dean as he stays clean and moves on with his life.
I met Deen at the airport in Puerto Rico and he is a very nice and humble guy. I pray for him to continue the Journey in the right track. Blessings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷.

He has so much of the Steve Perry......Some of those live Journey performances are unbelievable. And it's funny, because it's almost like the music is trapped into writing those 80's songs, melodically or vocally. But I remember, Steve Perry was the pinnacle male vocalist for people of that era. I'd almost like to hear what Deen can do with an acoustic guitar. Every once in a while a country singer jumps out. Steve Perry always had that Sam Cooke velvety sound in his ears, that's where it all started, and he expanded it to become himself, and his voice, was simply that of Steve Perry. I suppose my hope for Deen is that he (obviously stays joyful, hopeful and sober) finds something that vocally is all of his own. Something in a country/contemporary Christian setting just might be glorious. Peace and my sincere best wishes.
