    I remember back in the early 2000's my dad had a Nintendo 64 and a bunch of games with it, and Shadows of The Empire was one of them, and as a big Star Wars fan he was, he introduced me to it at a young age, through the Prequels at the time, the video games and the Original Trilogy on DVD, but I remember this and Rouge Squadron on the N64 being the only Star Wars games we had, and even after he'd passed away, I'd always be reluctant to play this one just for it's challenging game play and haunting but amazing score, hell, the death screen always scared me as a kid and I would cry to my mom about the game being scary. Those were the times. Now I'm glad I'm actually good at video games. And thank my Dad especially for getting me into an amazing series that is still apart of my life, as it was his.

    What I like about this game the most is that, we who played it as children got exposed to a more sinister and creepy version of the Star Wars Universe, Shadows of the Empire really is the perfect title for this game.
    I remember being so freaked out by those Yeti like things (Wampa's) the AT-ST boss making me run and sprint for my life, IG-88 traumatizing me for life, Boba Fett causing me to panic and feel overwhelmed since he was such a small and agile foe.
    This game had such a serious and sinister feel about it. Really grateful to have experienced it and to have a unique perspective of Star Wars.

    SOTE, this game in particular, is what initiated me into the Star Wars fandom at age 15. I was fortunate that just months after this game came out, the special edition of the OT was released in theaters. Really weird way to get into it since both Episode V and VI served to help me understand why Han was in the condition he was in in the game, and how he got out of it. Not long after I read the novel and look forward to reading it again.
    More specific to this video, I had always thought this theme was composed specifically for the game since it doesn't appear in any of the films. Years later it was a joy to discover that it was a part of the TESB score all along, titled The Ice Planet Hoth. So beautiful! And forever the essence of Star Wars to me.

    There was once an entire recreation series of this music. Don't know what happened to it but can take a guess; it was really high quality and wondrous to listen to.
    Closest I can find to it is your video here. Kudos.

    This theme always, ALWAYS unsettled me as a kid, and I could never figure out why. Could have something to do with the Wampa in the original movie always scared me, and finding them in the game always made me shut it off right there.

    • @AndrewKesler
      @AndrewKesler 3 года назад +2

      What's really interesting is from an orchestral perspective, it's quite light, with woodwinds featured as the main melody which isn't common at all these days. Something about this is still unsettling to me all these years later. Very tense chords and unique textures

    • @Indurok
      @Indurok 3 года назад +1

      The wampas were scary to me too. I would always hesitate to open their cages. But they weren't nearly as bad as the dianogas. Screw those things. A few years ago, I played Dark Forces for the first time, and those water-dwelling bastards still scare the hell out of me.

      @CALISUPERSPORT 2 года назад

      That tells you how great the music is. It does exactly what it should by evoking some sort of emotion. For me it was mystery and danger, and because the game kinda scared me as a kid and was difficult, eventually it just instilled fear, lol.

    This theme is in the new lego star wars game when escaping hoth. The outrider also features as a drivable ship. However Dash himself is absent

    • @Bauglir100
      @Bauglir100 Месяц назад

      That’s because it isn’t the Outrider specifically, just a generic YT-2400 freighter. Probably because the ship happened to be included in the Special Edition of A New Hope and the developers wanted to stick with Canon material only.

      @@codman4372wx Obscure *Canon* characters. As in Disney Canon.
      I would’ve loved if The Skywalker Saga had included Dash Rendar, as well as Prince Xizor, Guri, Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, Delta Squad, Starkiller, and the various KOTOR characters as well. But Disney clearly didn’t care for that stuff. Grand Admiral Thrawn only made it in because he was recanonized in Star Wars Rebels.

    I had a dream last night that i was aboard the Falcon. A dianoga bit into han's neck as worms crawled out and another one began to bloat and chase after Leia. We escaped, but Han was exploded from the inside out. Weird dream, weirder still that this triggers it. I had tried to warn med bay but found that the pods were making more of them. Then i found Luke's dead body.

    Really wasted opportunity to have never made this into a movie. The multi-media project was very ambitious, it was cool to need to get all the pieces to understand the full story. Dash Rendar as the protagonist of the video game, see Boba Fett's whole journey to drop off Solo at Jabba's through the comics, and get the full meat of the story with the novel which remains my favorite from the SW EU.

    Ji$ney should 'make a Dash Render' film by falling utterly & completely apart so that others can buy up all their assets & begin making SW as it should be.
    Ji$ney has done maybe one, two things right - 'Rogue One' as a contribution to the lore, was ok, & then they hired John Williams to do the music for 3 big fan-films.
