Yours is an Empty Hope - did you realize that while Marko was cleanly singing "yours is an empty hope" Floor was providing the growls? This is your first concert with songs specifically composed with Floor's talents in mind.
I remember obviously with Wacken she only had 48 hours to prepare which is mental.

You can give him any sequence, even the most convoluted of time signatures and off-beats, and he'll hit every single beat perfectly. Watch Wintersun's live rehearsal vids for" Sons of Winter And Stars" and "Time" and you'll see just how mental Kai actually is

At first I didn't know what to expect from Kai as drummer. The more I listen to him the more I hear subtle things he adds to. He's absolutely outstanding

Finnish is pronounced as it's written so you don't add an extra e in the end when you pronounce Hahto.
I was at this concert and it remains one of THE best concerts i have ever been to. Nightwish are my favourite band and i love going back to thus concert as it was brilliant. The whole band are all so talented, it's sick, but to be fair, Floor has worked so hard to be as good as she is and Kai Hahto is a machine on the drums and never misses a beat. One thing you don't appreciate when watching the video is every time the fireworks were set would then be the smell that would waft through room. This concert was epic and the second time i saw them out of a total of four times (so far).

Hey mate, a drummer here from way down under. We might be only drummers but love how your ears picked up all the subtle stuff that others dont. We hear it all, know it all and play it all. Loved your reaction and this is the show where I fell in love with Kai and of course the newer songs that were Floors.
This is the band I wished I had played in my whole career. The use all the elements musically and vocally and know how to treat and pander their audience. What other fans would patiently sit through the intro of "The Greatest Show on Earth". The Beunos Aires concert is different again, a little more intimate but still fantastic. Cheers Ma9Na

Buenos Aires crowd is insane (in a good way) but check Tampere for The Islander, The Sleeping Sun (the song that puts me to sleep every night) and the finale special pyrotechnics for the home crowd.

Nightwish was first Finnish band to headline/perform in Wembley Arena.
I was lucky enough aged 55 to be there best ever concert abd introduce my parner to Nightwish.last year caught the Wembley concert also epic.😂

At 49:04 Floor commands "Wembley let's GOOOOO" and GOOOOO it did then at 52:06 Floors silent scream at the crowd. Two of my favourite Nightwish moments. Here's another two from the next song... "Alpenglow" where Floor as an intro says at 52:38 "This song, this song just makes you feel great. I mean if you didn't already feel much better than earlier today then or maybe even fantastic by now then this song will kick you right in to it... how about that?" then, at the end she says at 57:24 "Feeling better?" Then theirs Floor on that stage loving life with her little dances. What a woman. Heck there are so many wonderful moments with this phenomenal band. 🙏😊👍❤️

Great video! This was the first album/tour with Floor as the lead vocalist so Tuomas was able to tailor the songs to Floor’s insane talent and range. It created such an amazing sound.

You did not watch the very end of the consert. Richard Dawkins appeared on the stage and made a speech. That was awsome and the crowd went wild. It was Dawkins's first ever rock consert. He also featured on Nightwish album " Endless Forms Most Beautiful"
And hopefully you know who is this brittish world- renowned biologist.
I actually watched it after I finished filming. Was a brilliant part.

Awesome, Joel. I have absolutely loved going through this entire concert with you. This is such a spectacular band and my wife, Carol, and I had the great pleasure of traveling from Phoenix to see them live at the historic Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on May 18, 2022. Every live concert they do is incredible... the energy and the talent that they bring to the stage and their audiences are amazing. Thank you for doing these deep dives into these entire Nightwish concerts. I loved every second of it.

Great reaction Joel. Loved your percussive insights, and I appreciate you were listening to the music rather than the lyrics. Others will fill you in about the lore behind 'Poet & The Pendulum' and 'The Greatest Show on Earth' but just seeing your little face light-up was worth the entrance money. Bueunos Aires sees Floor sing songs which were written for the two previous singers (mostly) and she kills it. Since Troy has been a full-time member, both the compositions and live performances have improved beyond measure in my opinion. Take care buddy. Kev

Who gave tips to whom? Jukka helped him to get the style he was playing the songs - as Kai wanted to play them the same the fans & band were used to (and I quess there was not too much time to start improvising 😁 )
But I think Kai is not the second there. They're both amazing, but Kai has his own style with jazz etc influences (he tells about that in his "little warm up" -video)

@@sateentuoksu Not trying to down play Kai . Not saying everything he knows he learned from Jukka. He just needed quick notes on Julkka's playing style (because of fans who riot when a note is changed in a song). Kai is fantastic in Wintersun and I've heard his playing style described as "the drum set started to levitate" - I have no argument with that. You're probably a better judge than I. Is the drumming style in more recent songs (Greatest Show on Earth or Noise) Kai's or is he still emulating Jukka? I would think it's now Kai's because Tuomas composes with eh strengths of his bandmates in mind. I just know I like it.

I have been lucky enough to see some of the worlds top bands over the last 45 years, from Iron Maiden and Saxon in the late 70's to Hawkwind, through the Punk era with the Buzzcocks, Pistols, Damned and the Clash, to the arena and stadium bands....Metallica, G&R, Slipknot Linkin' Park and many more. However - last year I managed to see Nightwish in Birmingham (England). The set was not dissimilar to the tour you have viewed, but of course without Marko. From all of those icons already mentioned, Nightwish, more than any other band have literally changed my life. From the Lyrics (written often to reflect Tuomas's life) to the symphonic rock, they have it all. A truly mesmorising band and if anyone reading this gets a chance to see them......i urge you, don't miss the opportunity. Great reaction. I too throw drum sticks about, and can only hope I get anywhere near half as good as Kai.

Watching your reaction I had this feeling that The Poet and the Pendulum left you a bit confused... The mini break you mentioned was actually the intro of the song. And the parts by Floor and Marco where you asked 'where did this come from' are also an important part of the story. As others might have suggested, you might want to look into the story behind this song, so that it makes more sense to you. It's a very sad story but beautifully told, as Tuomas always does....
LITTLE EDIT / P.S.: Now I'm at the end of the video and I realised that you missed part of the last song... Greatest Show on Earth has an impressive story behind it as well. And in this case I think you might have missed the live performance of Richard Dawkins, whose work this song is inspired on. So another story to check out, if you didn't do so already :-) Have fun!

Love your reactions Joely. Epicness on that stage as always with Nightwish. Highlight filled from start to finish. Sweet spot hit each and every time. Yes, Wembley is different to Wacken 2013 but the same. That's Nightwish. Phenomenal group of musicians, all masters of their craft and all who make this spectacle possible. Thank you for reacting to this concert masterpiece. I was with you all the way. Buenos Aires 2018 next please, again different to both Wacken and Wembley where Floor breathed new life in to a number of Nightwish classics (most you will not have heard) that pre-date her time with the band and made them her own. 🙏😊👍❤️

I was at this concert, and oh my god what an atmosphere, hands down the best gig i have ever been to, just beating out MUSE and they put on a good show. Everybody jumping to troy in I want my tears back was just immense. I loved Nemo and Last ride of the Day. You should check out their cover of pink floyds High Hopes, i think its better than the original.

Joel I think you like the harmonising vocals😀 I've watched half and it's 3.30am so I think I'm going to have to save the rest for tomorrow. This concert is Epic but so is Buenos Aires. Great to have Troy there for the English fans our little bit of nightwish great reaction, I fully expect you to carry on reacting for the English contingent 😊🇬🇧 BTW you did the 48 hours to learn the set list for wakken night wish fans will love you if you look into the story behind the poet and the pendelum, it's when they had to sack the first singer they wrote an open letter that you can read, the backlash was incredibly bad and Tuomas got really depressed this song is all his feelings about that time so it's very deep and personal. They have said they won't perform it live again, lovely song but sad when you know the meaning behind it.

As a drummer I can appreciate why you would listen to sound of the music rather than the lyrics but The Poet and the Pendulum was Tuomas putting his depression into musical form and Floor's performance was the best ever. It was in 5 sections and you would have benefitted from subtitles. As for chopping The Greatest Show on Earth, no comment !!

I really enjoyed your reaction and it's so fun to see your ride through their amazing live shows for the first time... but do encourage you to be ready with some context (and perhaps turning on the text) for The Greatest Show on Earth in the Tampere show. I also encourage you to give The Poet and the Pendulum another listen once you have the backstory and context of why the song was written and the sections to it. I'm sure you will be able to listen to them with fresh ears and will enjoy them even more.

Amazing concert!! well seems we are going to Argentina next, one thing to say about that concert is, that that is proberly the best crowd there, NW ever did have, not that the crowd wasnt amazing here, but you know what i mean when you see that concert..

Just one thing about the song The Poet and The Pendulum (the song that starts around 58:00) it was written by Toumas when they fired the original lead singer Tarja. After they fired her the fans turned on Toumas and he went into a deep depression. If you listen to the song again and listen to the words instead of talking over them (I know you were doing a reaction so you have to talk and give an opinion for copyright reasons but it is frustrating with this song as you need to listen to the words) you will hear the clues. Like in the chorus "I cannot cry as the shoulder cries more." I am hurting but so is everyone else, the shoulder I cry on is gone. "I have but two faces, One for the world and one for God, save me." The face I have to put on in public and the one that I have in private when no-one can see me. Also after Marco's part, the second whispered part, goes ""Today, in the year of our Lord 2005, Tuomas was called from the cares of the world, He stopped crying at the end of each beautiful day, The music he wrote had too long been without silence, He was found naked and dead, With a smile in his face, A pen and 1000 pages of erased text" Save me" The final part where Floor starts from sitting down is from what Toumas' mother said to him when he told her how he felt and she said that she would always love him.
This is a special song because they did this song very rarely and it was so emotional for Toumas that he would often take his playback earpiece out so he couldn't hear it being sung. Toumas said that he had to kill himself in the song so he didn't do so for real. That is why you have Emppu checking on Toumas mid song and Marko and Emppu standing next to Toumas as the song plays out. Another point to note is the dirst line is The End and the last line is The Beginning.

The lyrics of the songs are very important to understand the story. It gives you much more than „only“ the music. Especially for the last one - because you cut the song before end. It seems you didn’t understand the message of the song. That’s not necessary because the music is fantastic enough. But it would give you so much more…
So, try to do it with subtitles next time (hopefully you will do the concert of Tampere 😊)
Some small information to the song - The Greatest Show on Earth. It describes our human evolution from the cells to the humans as we now live on this planet. The words of Richard Dawkins and the lyrics - written by Toumas - and also the visuals describe it in a fantastic way…
