Floor is such a rock star. Forget her God given vocals, but the way she ignites the audience, carries herself on stage and moves her body to metal music. It’s almost unreal. Too good to be true. Like it was shot 150 times by a director. She has Freddie Mercury/Michael Jackson/Mick Jagger level stage presence.
An interviewer once asked Floor if, besides singing, she played any other instrument. Without missing a beat she said "Why yes. The audience."
Whole concert is example of ultimate perfection.
Exactly so! Indeed so perfect!
I've only seen one live performance that can rival this and that was only 5 songs and 25 minutes long. Queen's performance at Wembley during the Live Aid concert in 1985. And as you see I say "that can rival" because this is imho the best live concert I've ever seen. Some songs from Tampere in 2015 stand out like The Islander and TGSOE but as a whole this is perfection from start to finish!

Start to finish the best live performance I have seen, and I have seen a lot of them.
The whole concert video on YT has a comment stating that we should record it to send it to interstellar space. I agree with it. But there is a reply stating that we shouldn't while quoting Carl Sagan, saying, and I quote, "no need to show off.".

OK, I have to say something. I used to like Nightwish with Tarja. After they fired her, I was very dissapointed. But I was like, OK, let's hear Anette. And she was good, she was not Tarja, but still very good singer. But after I heard they fired her... I was done: "No, I don't want to hear another singer, this band is a joke..." And I was totally wrong! I started listening to Nightwish again one year ago or something and I was blown away by Floor's voice! And now I think: I don't care abou the drama, it's not my buisness, I can't judge anyone. Floor is a fantastic singer and Nightwish is a fantastic band! And that's all what I care about now. :-)
That is something I am thinking right now because of Marko leaving the band. My first reaction was "he is so good, I can't imagine the band without him" but then I tought Jukka left the band, he was amazing and they got to replace him with someone as good as he is, Tarja left the band and they are still there as good as they were, Floor is incredible. Let's give them some time, it won't be exactly like Marko but it can be as good as he is, maybe bring something different to the band, let's wait and hope for the good. They are Nightwish, they won't get a John Doe for the bass.

same here...i stopped listening to NW for a while after Tarja left and then re-discovered them with Floor after watching a YT video back in 2016...and now i am a bigger fan than ever.

Only discovered Nightwish and Floor last year ( I had stopped listening actively for a couple of decades). I have seen most of these songs now dozens of times and that woman STILL makes me tears up AND giggle at the same time!

I am a 70 y/o physician now in the Texas brigade. I first heard Nightwish in February 2020. As so many of these things are, it was in the “nick of time.” Shortly after that I began hearing Big Brain reaction and the others. Then came COVID to my patients, my community, my family. Now I am grateful to say thank-you to Nightwish, Charlie C. ,and the Army. You have no idea how much and how many people you have rallied to the fight.

Breaks my heart knowing when we see them in LA later this year Marko won't be there. Every single one of them are so key.
There are Nightwish live stream concert 28 and 29 May , they are moved from March to May , when May 2021 live concerts in Europe have been canceled .
Finnair plane ticket from SFO to HEL is €700 and you can see Nightwish and lot of other bands in Rockfest Tampere 10-12 June , no need to wait to October for LA concert .
From HEL (Helsinki Airport) you can take train to Tampere and get to 500 m away from Ratina area where the concert is , same place than Nightwish 2015 concert .

On another note, I don't think I've ever seen a guitarist have as much fun performing as Emppu does...
Everybody is in shock when floor growls in Yours is an empty hope, but anybody has ever noticed she growls a little in Ghost River here 😶 neither did I until today 🙈
To think there may be thousands of people in that Audience that may of never heard Floor before and may only of known the past singers, so the fact she connects so quickly to them and they to her just shows the abilities she possesses to win anyone over and have them eating out of her hands says something amazing.

At the time of Wacken Open Air, Floor had already been asked to become a full time member of Nightwish. The band wanted to announce it at Christmas 2013, but because the DVD was released earlier, it was released in November 2013. During this concert she already knew what the fans did not know, she would stay.
This set is deservedly legendary and I can’t express how much I enjoyed watching it again with Charlie and everyone else today.

That's what I say as well, not having been to the Woodstock 69 and all, but holy geez. Wacken 2013 is what still mostly living people should feel like they missed something important.
The band was incredibly tight and Floor's voice was perfection this night. Magic!!!

What a joy to hear. Music to enjoy, to laugh to, to cry to, to want to hear again. I just got out hospital from a stroke and therapy for 8 months. Just got home a couple weeks and one of the first things I wanted was to hear Nightwish. What a pleasure. Thank you for playing the Wachen concert. Music to raise my soul again to.

This is something I didn't know I need.
I stumbled across this concert by accident back in 2014. I have listened to at least 1 song from it every day since.
In my list of best live concert videos, this knocked 'Maidens - Live After Death out of 1st place for me, a position it held for nearly 20 years
It really puts Floor's vocal talent and stamina into perspective when you realize just how far Ghost Love score is into the concert. 99% of vocalists would be struggling to hold a tune after 30 minutes of singing like she does

Well, the fact is this isn't actually live. The live performance was recorded, yes, but this audio is so "fixed" it should be plainly clear that it isn't live. There is no breathiness or fatigue in her voice, and her pitch is too perfect throughout. The overall tone of the audio is much too warm to be a true live recording; there's no shrill quality to it anywhere.
I love this show, and I love the band, but it was obviously given a ton of treatment since it was being put together for home release.
@@corey8711 Well song of myself is where you hear her clearly breathing. Btw i doubt what your saying. Looking at her performances from other concerts and her other bands shows clearly she has the stamina of an Olympic athlete... ( Devil and the deep dark ocean life shows this for example ).
@@corey8711 I am pretty sure there is no voice tuning going on here but there will certainly be some cleaning up of the audio quality to make sure the levels are good for a DVD. Not too much else though.
@@corey8711 I refuse to believe that she is lip syncing. Yes, there is some sound editing to balance the sound, but I have seen too many of these phone recordings of the concert, and they are spot on compared to what is on the official video ruclips.net/video/h51sYr_0K-s/видео.html

Individually all these performances are great, but watching them one after the other just blows your mind, there's not a single low in the whole concert.
And as you said, Floor owns them all.

We've heard Floor sing different variations of all these songs but it seems like the one concert where she had the attitude of "when in doubt - belt".
She has added a lot more variety in timbre and dynamic to most of these songs over the years. I like the added nuance and complexity, but the exuberance and sheer power of these renditions is great too.
I also discovered Nightwish about a year ago and now I can't get enough of them. I'm not a very demonstrative person, but your reactions mirror exactly what I feel, and I really appreciate being able to watch how well you express my own reactions.
This show was my introduction to NightWish roughly 1 1/2 yrs ago. Started my work day with Evanescence Synthesis live on RUclips after that this show played. Been hooked since the first 20 seconds, replayed it 4 times that day

When Floor is singing her highest note, I can hear the overtone floating on top - so hard to have such a rich, pure voice that generates overtones!
Lemme just say that every time I hear Storytime, I'm reminded how insanely difficult it is to sing. Not because of range or rapid notes or difficult skips (which are all there), but because it's just *_non-stop._* There's no room to breathe!!
How can I LOVE everything about this band?? Every damn song ROCKS! Hands down my favorite band of all time. And I only found them a week ago! No other band makes me feel like they do. Floor is a Viking Goddess!

Floor (and Troy) only became official band members a few months later.
39:36 - Did you know this part featuring classical vocal over the choir was not in the original version of "Storytime"? On the album, it was all choir, as the previous singer, Annette, possessed a different "tool kit", so Tuomas adjusted his writing to her (btw, you should watch "Scaretale", "Slow, Love, Slow" or "Meadows of Heaven" with Annette to see what SHE was good at!). Back to the story at hand, enter Floor, and she was evidently game to try the challenging stuff in higher registers. In the process, she enabled the band to revive several older songs and injected fresh excitement to fan favorites like "Storytime"... absolutely making them her own in the new arrangements.
You must have found out by now, the climactic ending of "Ghost Love Score" as we know it today is also Floor's "experiment". Normally, even the powerhouse vocalist Tarja would take a bow after the last repeat of the chorus (there - 1:28:16), and let the choir ride it out. This, to reinforce your argument at 22:34!
I swear you make watching Nightwish 5000000x over so much fun.

You fanboyed hard Charlie like the rest of us.🤘 One of the best videos or the best concerts I've ever seen. She's 31 and change here and her voice was youthful and incredible.
Her zipper got stuck on in her trailer during the wardrobe change and still was maybe a second late. Remarkable how poised she comes across in that.
Then Emppuu turning down her earpiece as he came by during Tears Back. Watching how much fun they are having and how elated she is during Last Ride as all that pressure comes off her chest is awesome. That joy the camera caught right before the last chorus gets me in the feels everytime.
There was one show left in this festival tour the next night and you couldn't tell how exhausted they must have been.
In that last chorus she made that face that takes her out of character but gives us the pure JOY of a performer's spirit. Paul your commentary is something I need in live chat 🤣

Amen brother! I'm actually running the COVID vaccination clinic at my hospital and get to see the looks of hope on people's faces when they realize they can hug their grandchildren again. This was a fantastic idea, seeing and hearing everything in context. I am a lifelong musician who started singing when I learned to talk, started classical piano at 8 playing classical piano on a full scholarship moved on to rock and roll at 15, taught myself guitar in college, and proceeded to play and sing in Greenwich Village with my future, now late wife as a duo for 20 years, and in a full band with her (also an extraordinary vouce and presence ) as lead singer at the same time for 5 years or so. I am also trained in performance technique. The first time I experienced Floor and Nightwish doing Ghost Love Score, approximately a year ago, my first impression (after I recovered my senses) was this band is incredible, and that was the single, best vocal performance I have ever heard in my life, by far. She can't be real, but obviously, she is. Thanks for this gift.
Shame that I wasn't able to be watching the stream live, hopefully at 15k or 20k you'll do Buenos Aires or Wembley! 🥳 Greets spacekoekje

She had already been offered and accepted membership in the band, about a month before, along with Troy. The band wanted to keep it under wraps until the end of the year but then realized they couldn’t list Floor and Troy as “guest” musicians on the release of the Showtime Storytime DVD (of this concert) in the fall, so they announced their membership in October.

Best thing was that prank Emmpu pulled on Floor during I Want My tears back if you noticed he walked behind her and turned off her pack for her in ears and you see her smile and laugh and reach to turn it back on he tries to do it again but she sees him

First off... glad to see you pleased as punch from the first song (and what an ultimate opener!). Then... "She Is My Sin"... the first song from NIGHTWISH I ever heard, what a timeless riff, what an energy. I truly would love to hear this performed by a symphonic orchestra with a soloist the caliber of Lady Floor. This is the initial reaction, as I will probably be watching the show with you - in parts. It's a busy life, but a beautiful one.
[5 songs in] So, "Ghost River", the 2nd best NIGHTWISH riff after the first one... and yes, the interplay between Floor and Marco will be hard to replace. While "Ever Dream" in this rendition will basically be everyone's wet dream. How she drives that song towards the glorious double-bass badass climax!

Late to the party, but Charlie... Watching this concert is a mind-blowing experience on its own. Seeing your face light up, you get so into songs, not just for the pure vocals, and your overall excitement for this takes it to a whole new level. Thank you for sharing this with us...
