I'm 45 and mom was in her early 50's when she passed away. Wow though, we're kinda like the sad 2008 club, mom died Oct 20th.. My father just died last August as well. That was tough, I hadn't seen or even talked to him on the phone or online, in like 4 years. I tried to. So I had to go up and see him. It was a very good experience, I took the bus and got there right in on time. Like it was so perfect, that I feel a higher power guided me there. I spent just about 45mins with his body. 3 days dead, he looked very good. The main difference between him and my mother, was my mom had just passed away and dad was gone for days. So he was quite cold. But other than, he looked fine. I held his hand enough to nearly warm it up. I said the lords prayer and some others a few times. I cried I laughed, I talked to him. Held his hand, and kissed him. I said, that it didn't matter if we hadn't seen one another in so long, that I was there now. I felt enormous peace and comfort afterwards. I was meant to go there. I consider that the funeral. But he was Catholic so he had a real one. My childhood friends came and we were pallbearers. Really what choices do you get in life, your parents either die suddenly or they deteriorate. I went through that with my Grandmother. So at least I was spared that with my parents.

Wow, I didn't realize she was left laying flat down on her back. I had a three hour breast reduction and when I went home, I had to sleep in my recliner for three days after surgery. She would have been better off staying in a rehab facility for the purpose of after care.

Listen..my dad died last night of a massive heart attack. He has had countless heart attacks and strokes in the past. I am devastated. But I don’t blame the ambulance to the doctor for not doing enough. I don’t blame my dad. This doctor wanted her to recover in a medical center and the family and patient said no. Could that have saved her? Probably. But no one should be “blamed”. Sudden death is like jumping into an ice cold violent ocean in the middle of winter. This is so sad. People get those procedures together all the time. And folks don't take seriously the aftercare instructions. If she took that many of those pain pills, she could have had respiratory from that or become so obtunded she'd choke to death on her back. Doctor is correct, I definitely would not have had her sleeping or resting flat on her back. She should have been at least at 30 degrees with those surgeries on her torso and heavily medicated.
As a Respiratory Therapist, 30 degrees minimum but 45 degrees is best for Respiratory management. With that much Vicodin she wasn't able to handle her secretions and choked on them. Heavy post on people also generally have some sleep apnea and heavy sedatives decrease respiratory drive as well, which leads to cardiac arrest.

If you listen to the 911 call, you can clearly hear what happened. Even the 911 operator was frustrated because the 2 women it sounded like were with her weren’t listening or doing what they said to do. They said she vomited black stuff, he kept telling them to get her out from her flat bed, clear her mouth and throat and start mouth to mouth. It sounded like they were panicking , and distracted, which is understandable, but she definitely didn’t have to die. I was so frustrated listening to it. It’s heartbreaking.

I had breast cancer and when I got home for at least a month I was never allowed to lay flat on my back or even on my sides and I was never left alone. Also it was not elective it was life saving
Similar happened to my aunt 30 years ago. She was at home and had a heart attack. She was sitting up in a chair. The paramedics came and laid her flat on the floor and she died. I had just started high school. I remember soon after is when EMTs started treating heart attack patients sitting up and not carrying them out flat on a gurney.
Everyone knows theres the chance of passing when you have surgery ! My aunt had gastic bypass surgery and when she was sewed up they left 1 stitch open and infection and feces went threw her bloodstream!! From just 1 stitch, but she was determened to have it done reguardless of what we said !
Every Dr has a duty to explain procedure to patient- what she should experience, as far as pain, recuperation, etc. The Dr fills out a consent form stating the exact procedures to be performed + pt signing means it was all explained. I understood the first surgeon she went to wanted her to have a specialist clear her for surgery first- the Dr had a concern about her heart. She did not see the heart specialist but went to a different surgeon who did surgery. Kanye's mom decided against Dr's recommendation for in- hospital post-op stay. This IS unusual! Dr then hets her to sign a form stating that she is "leaving against medical advice- Dr no longer responsible for her care"! This is unusual! One video said she had a " heart attack" + this video mentioned her "being left alone + given 20 Vicodin over what seems like too short a time". So did she have a heart attack, O.D...medical examiner should know reason but I'm guessing the right amount of money has left him uncertain. What IS strange is that family's USUALLY want only the best for loved ones and, if anything, go overboard to make sure their relative stays alive + healthy. From what I've seen it's the opposite- set up as many different ways for her to get into trouble. My advice to Kanye: vanish to undisclosed location- tell no one except expert spiritual advisor. I'm 45 and mom was in her early 50's when she passed away. Wow though, we're kinda like the sad 2008 club, mom died Oct 20th.. My father just died last August as well. That was tough, I hadn't seen or even talked to him on the phone or online, in like 4 years. I tried to. So I had to go up and see him. It was a very good experience, I took the bus and got there right in on time. Like it was so perfect, that I feel a higher power guided me there. I spent just about 45mins with his body. 3 days dead, he looked very good. The main difference between him and my mother, was my mom had just passed away and dad was gone for days. So he was quite cold. But other than, he looked fine. I held his hand enough to nearly warm it up. I said the lords prayer and some others a few times. I cried I laughed, I talked to him. Held his hand, and kissed him. I said, that it didn't matter if we hadn't seen one another in so long, that I was there now. I felt enormous peace and comfort afterwards. I was meant to go there. I consider that the funeral. But he was Catholic so he had a real one. My childhood friends came and we were pallbearers. Really what choices do you get in life, your parents either die suddenly or they deteriorate. I went through that with my Grandmother. So at least I was spared that with my parents.

Wow, I didn't realize she was left laying flat down on her back. I had a three hour breast reduction and when I went home, I had to sleep in my recliner for three days after surgery. She would have been better off staying in a rehab facility for the purpose of after care.

Listen..my dad died last night of a massive heart attack. He has had countless heart attacks and strokes in the past. I am devastated. But I don’t blame the ambulance to the doctor for not doing enough. I don’t blame my dad. This doctor wanted her to recover in a medical center and the family and patient said no. Could that have saved her? Probably. But no one should be “blamed”. Sudden death is like jumping into an ice cold violent ocean in the middle of winter. It shocks your senses and you feel all sorts of emotions that hit you suddenly like a cold wave.

This is so sad. People get those procedures together all the time. And folks don't take seriously the aftercare instructions. If she took that many of those pain pills, she could have had respiratory from that or become so obtunded she'd choke to death on her back. Doctor is correct, I definitely would not have had her sleeping or resting flat on her back. She should have been at least at 30 degrees with those surgeries on her torso and heavily medicated.

As a Respiratory Therapist, 30 degrees minimum but 45 degrees is best for Respiratory management. With that much Vicodin she wasn't able to handle her secretions and choked on them. Heavy post on people also generally have some sleep apnea and heavy sedatives decrease respiratory drive as well, which leads to cardiac arrest.
It’s not fair to blame him because he was the one to operate on her. Had it been any other patient, other than Kanye’s mother, he wouldn’t have been treated like this. Sounds to me like the blame is on whoever gave her 20 Vicodin pills in 20 hours. At the MOST, she should have only taken 6 pills in that time period right?

I’ve had 2 back surgeries. And after surgery, the bottle said “take 1-2 every 4-6 hours.” So that’s why I was assuming 6 in a 20 hour period. But you could be right. They may have given her the whole bottle. Sounds like they did.

Even the 911 operator was frustrated because the 2 women it sounded like were with her weren’t listening or doing what they said to do.

It sounded like they were panicking , and distracted, which is understandable, but she definitely didn’t have to die.
I was so frustrated listening to it.

I didn't miss the whole point. I do understand that she was given to much pain medication and her recovery team failed her. To my understanding her heart was not strong enough. She was refused by another doctor so she found another doctor that would perform the procedure knowing her life was on the line. What's really all the truth behind this? Do we really know? Similar happened to my aunt 30 years ago. She was at home and had a heart attack. She was sitting up in a chair. The paramedics came and laid her flat on the floor and she died. I had just started high school. I remember soon after is when EMTs started treating heart attack patients sitting up and not carrying them out flat on a gurney.

Every Dr has a duty to explain procedure to patient- what she should experience, as far as pain, recuperation, etc.
The Dr fills out a consent form stating the exact procedures to be performed + pt signing means it was all explained.
I understood the first surgeon she went to wanted her to have a specialist clear her for surgery first- the Dr had a concern about her heart.
She did not see the heart specialist but went to a different surgeon who did surgery.
Kanye's mom decided against Dr's recommendation for in- hospital post-op stay.

So did she have a heart attack, O.D...medical examiner should know reason but I'm guessing the right amount of money has left him uncertain.
What IS strange is that family's USUALLY want only the best for loved ones and, if anything, go overboard to make sure their relative stays alive + healthy.
From what I've seen it's the opposite- set up as many different ways for her to get into trouble.

The cousin says that he was never supposed to be post-op caregiver. It's all extremely sus. If it was her heart it was her heart... but he's adding all these other reasons... her care, the meds, her position. He's still trying to cover for the fact that he should not have performed 3 surgeries on her at a time. In 2022 we KNOW how dangerous it is.
Ever since she died he's been going downhill mentally....he needs real help and family from Chicago around him

I assisted on cases such as this before. Pt should always be in a sitting position afterwards. Its just the smallest things that can go wrong adding to a big problem. She is missed.

Recovering in a hospital is way safer than being at home. It's SAD that she died from her own choices after having that many surgeries at one time

Dr Jan is an amazing person and should not be blamed for this. I personally knew this man. He came to my house with a friend and showered my kids gifts.
