    Hi Marybeth, you showed some pretty items as usual. My daughter bought a house a few years ago and the owner had collected glass. They asked if she wanted anything from the house and she told them to leave whatever they wanted. One of the glass pieces was that square bowl that someone uses as a salad plate. She shared some pieces with me. It was like a free estate sale.

    Oh my Lord! When we were dating my husband was always snacking, and the first Christmas I gave him a pig cookie jar like that! You put batteries in it and when you flip his head up it grunts like a pig, it’s so funny and all the kids over the years have loved it. We started dating in 1991 & will celebrate 30 years married in 2024. We still have the pig and he still grunts!🥰

    So is the antiques market and collecting still strong in America? Because over in the UK, you can't give some of these things away, people's tastes, have changed so much. Blue Wedgwood can be picked up for literally a few pounds.
    Same with Royal Dalton figurines and cut crystal, you could fill shipping containers, with stuff very cheaply.

    • @LadyMaryBeth
      @LadyMaryBeth  2 года назад +2

      I need to head over to the UK to shop. Can hardly believe the deals you mention. The younger generation is fixated on the environment, so thrifting Mid-Century has become popular. Not everyone wants the elegant dish patterns and crystal. Has to be easy care these days. So much, that Waterford produces stemware in Slovenia that is dishwasher safe. It's not the same as classic Waterford and the cuts are not defined.

    Thanks for another great video. My father never sprinkled salt on his food; he always poured a small amount on the side of his plate and dipped his food into the salt because he was brought up with open/individual salt cellars. Remember the cruet stand being out on the table at my grandfather’s house with the blue glass liners for the salt cellar and mustard pot along with crystal bottle for malt vinegar.
