    Do you tend to avoid thinking about difficult emotions or memories? Have you heard it’s unhealthy to just “stuff down” all the hard things? In this video, I’ll present a helpful strategy to use in order to slowly and deliberately work on distressing emotions and memories. And it’s a resource that trauma therapists use all the time to help people.
    PTSD and Trauma can create overwhelming feelings. The container method is a way to slow down the processing of them until you are in a safe place. It's often used with other trauma-healing approaches like EMDR, CBT, or other forms of therapy.

    In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.
    And deeper than all of that, the Gospel of Jesus Christ orients my personal worldview and sense of security, peace, hope, and love www.churchofje...

    I feel like I've kept the traumatic memories locked up tight for years.. I've subconiously done this, but I am terrified to open it.

      I'm scared too, it's alright. I'm terrified of my own memories, triggers-the physical and mental discomforts that come along with them. But I also think we can be brave. You, me, all of us. I've already decided that I'm willing to do whatever it takes to feel like my old self again. You can do this. I believe you can do this, because you're never alone. None of us here are.

      It will eventually come to the surface im dealing with it too growing but at the same time healing, I am not my trauma nor does it define whom I am , it is however a challenge going through this ,

    I was diagnosed so many mental disorders and it was all because of the combinations of illicit and illegal and addictive Pharmaceuticals all together in one day every day for decades that would drive anybody crazy .I'm so glad I almost have 5 years clean and sober and no mental disorders.ty

    How to deal with uncontrol rage?

  • @Mnt2ride
    @Mnt2ride Месяц назад +1

    One of the first videos I watched on your channel was similar to this technique, but just taking the thoughts and placing them in a drawer. That helps me stop and relax and come back later to deal with them. Many times I just forgot them or they were anxious feelings that I for now can shut them off. Well sort of. I pray about them and seek help if they get out of control. Thank you so much.

      Get tested for POTS Syndrome because of dizziness

    • @soniamo4139
      @soniamo4139 Месяц назад

      I second getting tested for POTS. Also, get your blood pressure checked. If you can't get testing due to limited resources, talk to your doctor, increase your salt intake.if your blood pressure is generally low and if you can, try graduated compression socks.
      POTS is when your blood pools to your feet, making you dizzy.
