Its good you work for a company that allows these type of quality of life tool expenses. Our hands are irreplaceable and anything that reduces the wear and tear on them is worth it.
The cool thing about this tool is that it leaves the waste insulation on the cable. This lets you strip a bunch of cables and carry them up a ladder or something and then remove the waste part, preventing the ends from fraying/getting damaged in transport. Great review Lexi!
They make these for both AL and CU wires. I think you maky be using the AL on the copper wire and that is why it leaves the small piece on the wire that you are having to reverse. Our is the CU type and it works like when you did the AL and the 500 CU wire. It strips down so you don't have to reverse it, the wire just comes out the side. We love our stripper and will probably buy another one as a spare. Thanks for posting and I enjoy the videos Lexi.
I’m doing a steel fabrication plant and we have 20 or so panels with everything from 500 kcmil to 3awg feeding equipment. My company owns one of those but the foreman who has it won’t give it up. I’m running out of razor blades🙁
I'm curious: Can I assume they're making you supply the razor blades? If so, I'd tell the boss man either cough up the stripper or start supplying the blades or some wire ain't gonna get terminated.
You: hey boss why is this tool locked up here? Boss: Productivity You: I'm just gonna move it ok? Boss: 👷🏻♂️ 🔫👷🏻♂️ feeling productive Bob? Let this be a lesson put down the Milwaukee stuff and go play with the Ryobis
@@TOOL_TECHNICAL lol no quiet. We make electrical boxes for the city street lights and power distribution so when the guys need to strip 100 short pieces of 000 AWG wire it’s easier if yours not holding the wire stripper.
A knife nick on a wire strand will have you redoing them with some inspectors. Some counties dont have enough budget and rely on state electrical inspectors. He looked at a panel i did with bifocals. Commented I was the only one who didnt need to redo them today due to knife nicks. With the price of wire might be worthwhile.
really cool! Seems to me like youre supposed to turn it as you put the wire in? then it cuts it all off in a helical motion until its at length, and it spits it out the bit.
Thanks for showing this cool piece of equipment. I have been waiting to see this run. Can I use this battery on other Milwaukee tools or just this device? NICE!!!!
Hey it looks like a good tool, but in my job as service guy, the wires are smaller, and the handling is a lite bit easier, but i think i can it use at home actuelly 🙂
The industrial LNG plant im on requires us to use these or something like it. While I agree with you there are practical applications. And as an electrical inspector I’d rather see an inexperienced person use this than butcher strands on a low voltage cable.
If you have a set you have to strip back to back, this will be convenient for that application. That might be the main reason and or designs idea for this product. And yeah with skill makes speed.
My old boss never buying that stuff.. We used a sheetrock razor. Small companies can not afford fancy tools. I learned from an old korean vet and ww2 guys .
I just want to say that having used this tool several times, you need to feed it in, just strips the whole thing in a spiral action, no need to pull off insulation
Politely, are you doing something wrong? I watched this video when I was thinking of buying it but didn't because you have to rip the insulation off. Ended up getting the dewalt one since its comes off in a helix and doesn't need to be ripped off. Today, I just watched 2 different reviews of the m12 & m18 strippers and the insulation comes right off in a helix. So I came back to watch yours and it looks like it's getting stuck in the ejection port.
So many people say "ought" for zero, and so many others say "nought". I think I finally settled on "nought" because that's the British term for zero or nothing (dreadnought = fear nothing).
I know some guys that would use this on 14 gauge wire.. I've been curious, do you work for yourself or work with a shop? Are you a journeywoman or a master? Thanks!
"We're gon a do an inch and a half cause thats a decent size" get you a lady like this my goodness Jokes aside cool tool great RUclips but I feel for the price it's a little much to be practical but that's just me idk
I laugh. I've seen so many videos with plumbers using a Pro Press and the comments are flooded with idiots saying how its worse then soldering on copper. I look at the comments here and everyone gives tools that make a job faster, safer, more productive all thumbs up. Old people be old, can't get out of the past.
I like these videos but that ain't how we use the stripper. You gotta just feed it then rotate the cutter and it peels it like butter in one single piece. Literally 2 seconds lighting McQueen cah chow

Yeah I was looking at what battery tools they had going on for cables. I do like trying new things to make life easier. It's a 4oz knife that does the job in a few seconds, vs another 20lbs case and tool to carry around, it's not worth it considering the speed takes 10x longer than just using a knife.
what a waste of time and money. I could strip that with a knife faster than it took you to set up the tool. It saved you a shit load of time? How long does it take you to strip a piece of wire? lol

Good point

Hear that boys? Inch and a half is a decent size. 👍

I have used the Dewalt… loved it!! But I use Milwaukee… soooooo I’ve been wanting them to bring one out!!!
Such awesome gear thanks for the sweet demo Lex

You have to be a dunce to damage conductor with a knife
Are you required to reverse it off or can you just keep the trigger pinned and pull it off?
Looks like you can stay in forward
I see it works ok on THHN cable, how about on a more flexible, multi stranded copper cable?
really cool!
Seems to me like youre supposed to turn it as you put the wire in? then it cuts it all off in a helical motion until its at length, and it spits it out the bit.
That's how I was trained to use it. Spits the shavings out the side and on to the next one. No need to reverse and pull anything off

Do you have a tools list that would be your “go to” tools?

If it’s m18, yes. All m18 batteries fit on all m18 tools, and same for m12, all m12 batteries fit on all m12 tools.
It's pretty cool but is it necessary? I know klein makes a stripper that is pretty slick but I just use my knife. I'm sure that tool isn't cheap.
Great see you got your glasses on 😊 well for a bit of the video 😂😂 you can always buy tools but not eyes
I’ve only done stuff around my house. What’s the romex in the 500 MCM?
There is no such thing as 500 kcmil romex.....
Ele decapa até quantos milímetros???
I am actually a Milwaukee tool junkie both of my packout towers stand over 6 feet tall. This is a tool I do not possess and I think I have to have it.
Hey it looks like a good tool, but in my job as service guy, the wires are smaller, and the handling is a lite bit easier, but i think i can it use at home actuelly 🙂
if your building a house would it be cost effective to pre wire for solor and generator in case down the road you wanna add?
Honestly anything you pre wire for in the beginning can save you lots of money.
Is 4 ott the same as 40 like 4 zero ?
wow that'd be a huge timesaver over a week, imagine how much time is saved over a year??? plus cleaner than me and a knife
Is it easier than a razor knife?
Maybe it just me but seems faster with a razor knife/box cutter

I just want to say that having used this tool several times, you need to feed it in, just strips the whole thing in a spiral action, no need to pull off insulation
Or make a circular cut and then a lenghtwise cut with a knife and take it off in a second and save a thousand bucks

I know a few old heads that use plumbers old wheels as well.
